The Streamers’ Multitasking
Many participants in the Sauercrowd event show that despite the hardcore difficulty level, they cannot get out of their streamer skin. They always have half an eye on the chat, respond to questions, or talk to their viewers about various topics.
Other content creators occasionally insert breaks to react live to the death clips of their guild comrades, watch cooking videos (“cough” KnirpzBanane, on Twitch), or switch to a browser tab to look something up.
Usually, these things are not a problem; they are part of a streamer’s daily routine. However, in the context of WoW Classic Hardcore, the inattentive multitasking has already led to numerous unnecessary character deaths.
Brudivoeller, who shocked HandOfBlood with his apple strudel, for instance, died because he quickly checked information about potential weapons for his warrior while leveling. And not on a separate monitor, but directly in WoW. When he tabbed back, his character was defeated on the ground (Source: Twitch).
Other streamers failed to notice while chatting or writing that their health points were at rock bottom, that they were standing in fire (Emmo on Twitch), or were drowning underwater (BonjwaMaurice on Twitch). They pulled and fought and chatted … and died. In all these cases, the surprise was great.
I found it particularly curious that daniel_mowo died after activating auto-run, just to focus on something away from the PC (Source: Twitch). Meanwhile, his character was running straight off a cliff as ordered. Speaking of …
