A new system update has just been released for the PlayStation 5, which most PlayStation players in Germany and Europe will likely need to download as a day-one patch. What does the firmware update bring?
Although players in Germany and other European countries have to wait a little longer for the official launch of the PS5 on November 19, Sony’s new next-gen console is already available in the USA and some other countries.
Those who already own a PlayStation 5 had to download and install a day-one patch at launch. Now another update has apparently been added.
What is the new update about? MeinMMO has also received a PS5 from Sony for testing purposes in advance. I, Sven Galitzki, shooter expert from MeinMMO, have already tried Destiny 2 on the PlayStation 5 and also had to download the 868 MB day-one patch.
However, today another firmware update has been released – with version 20.02-02.25.00. It is also 868 MB in size and is essentially the first system software update since the first patch at launch.
It is not known whether German players have to download both patches or a cumulative update at launch.
What does the new system update bring for the PS5? The description is very clear. The new firmware update improves the system performance of the still young PlayStation 5, according to Sony.
No PS5 yet? If you’ve had bad luck so far and couldn’t pre-order or secure a PS5 at launch: At least there should apparently be new ordering opportunities at launch – basically a kind of third wave. Two German retailers have already announced this.
