Valorant is currently very popular with top streamer shroud. Therefore, he also believes that Valorant will not disappear anytime soon. According to his statement, Riot’s new team shooter will surely last another 10 years.
What did shroud say? The top streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek has been part of the Beta of Valorant from the beginning and remains a huge fan. In a stream on Microsoft’s platform Mixer, he recently talked again about the game and answered questions from his fans.
When asked if he was bored with Valorant, he reacted with surprise: “No, not at all! It’s really hard to be bored with this game right now.”
Later in the stream, he also said: “Valorant will surely last for another good 10 years.” That’s a bold statement, as the game is still in beta and has only been out for a month. Nevertheless, shroud stands by his statement and justifies it as well.
Why Valorant will stay alive according to shroud
These are shroud’s explanations: Overall, the shooter genre (FPS) is very strong. Successful shooters simply last long and continuously attract fans.
“[The] FPS [genre] is currently higher than ever before. It’s at its peak. Just the player numbers, it’s going crazy right now! […]”
The objection from a viewer in the chat that FPS games only have a lifespan of 6 months left shroud looking confused at first:
“Which FPS lasts only 6 months? Counter-Strike has been around for almost 2 decades. Escape from Tarkov, it just keeps going year after year after year. Valorant will surely last another 10 years. Call of Duty, the biggest FPS in the world! Every year again! Then there’s Halo, Overwatch … I don’t understand your argument. FPS is the genre! I believe these questions are from a troll, this can’t be serious.”
For shroud, it’s completely clear that successful shooters, like the ones he mentioned, will be successful for a long time due to the high popularity of the shooter genre. And Valorant has already broken various records on Twitch during the beta and has excited many players. If Riot doesn’t do anything fundamentally wrong, then shroud could very well be right.
