There are many ways to show pride in your Pokémon GO team. Some of them are unnecessary and can harm the reputation of the team.
Being part of a team is important to many people. Whether it’s a real-world football club or a fictional team doesn’t matter. Teams give a sense of unity and are often associated with many emotions. However, when one develops “hate” towards other teams and feels the need to show everywhere in the world that their team is the very best with no regard for others, then that team pride goes too far.
Pride Without Boundaries?
In Pokémon GO, there are teams, and trainers join one of three factions. The followers of different teams squabble amongst themselves or tease each other. Some feel a stronger connection to their own team and their Captain in Pokémon GO than is usual. But the fact that some develop outright hate towards others is going too far.
But even “too much” pride can be a serious problem.
The Reddit user aheadwarp9 uploaded this image showing a Pokémon GO team logo located on a cemetery building. On Reddit, the community almost unanimously condemns this behavior. Team pride is okay, it is said in a widely discussed thread, but this crap goes too far.
The image shows the Mountain View Cemetery in San Francisco. The mausoleum where the team logo is located is one of many PokéStops in the cemetery.
Mein MMO says: Those who behave disrespectfully towards their surroundings not only cast a bad light on themselves but on all Pokémon GO players.
If you are out playing Pokémon GO, do so with the necessary respect. Actions like those shown in the image are just foolish and unnecessary.
Fools’ hands smear tables and walls
A library in Utah had Niantic remove its PokéStop because trainers could not behave there and even sold the building’s electricity.
