Surprise for the Sinnoh Tour in Pokémon GO: Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz are roaming in the wild. But catching them is not easy – except through the photo research.

And such a current development could also be noticed by players right at the start of the Sinnoh Tour: The legendary lake trio of Selfe, Tobutz, and Vesprit is roaming in the wild – everywhere. Look for the corresponding shadows of the Pokémon “nearby” at the bottom right.
Why is this special? Legendary Pokémon in the wild are already something special and rare. With the lake trio, it adds that they are regional Pokémon that are usually found in raids or very rarely in the wild, but in other parts of the world.
Locally, you can usually only get Vesprit, if at all. But during the Sinnoh Tour, you have a good chance of encountering all three. They can even be shiny. However, catching them in the wild is not easy. Fortunately, you can use photo research to ensure you get close.
How to catch a Selfe, Vesprit & Tobutz with the Photo Safari
What is the problem? Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz have a high flee rate in the wild, just like you know from the legendary birds. This means: If they don’t stay in the first ball, there is a high chance they will just run away.
You will need luck above all. But: There is currently a chance to catch at least one specimen of each safely.
How does it work? For this, you need to use the “GO Tour: Photo Safari” found in the “Events” tab on the left in the game.
For each of the three Pokémon, there is a photo safari tile. The task is basically the same for all three:
- Take a snapshot of Tobutz outdoors
- Take a snapshot of Selfe outdoors
- Take a snapshot of Vesprit outdoors
So: When you encounter the Pokémon in the wild, don’t try to catch them right away, but take a snapshot of them. You can do this using the camera icon at the top right of the catch screen.
Once you have done that, the respective photo safari is completed, and as a reward, you will have another encounter with the corresponding Pokémon. The specimens from the photo safaris will not flee from the battle, so they can be caught more easily.
If you want to catch more, you will have to rely on your luck in the wild.
