In Pokémon GO today, on April 16, 2024, there will be another Spotlight Hour, where you can look forward to three different monsters. What they are, when the event starts, and what bonus you can expect is summarized here on MeinMMO.
What is a Spotlight Hour? Every Tuesday, a so-called Spotlight Hour takes place in Pokémon GO. During this hour, a previously selected Pokémon is highlighted for 60 minutes and spawns seemingly at every corner of the game. With an additional bonus, this short event is also further enhanced.
Today is no different, but with a special feature. Instead of one Pokémon, you can encounter three different monsters during today’s Spotlight Hour: Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple. All belong to the Bug type and are currently part of the event Bugging Out

Spotlight Hour on April 16 – Start, Bonuses and Shinies
When does the Spotlight Hour start? The Spotlight Hour starts today, on April 16, 2024, as usual at 6:00 PM local time and will be active for 60 minutes. It will end at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are active? During the short event, you will primarily encounter a lot of spawns of Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple. These can be found everywhere in the wild. If that’s not enough, you can use incense to attract more specimens.
Additionally, they will be accompanied by a Stardust bonus. For every Pokémon you catch, you will receive double the amount of Stardust.
Can you catch Shinys? Yes, Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple are already active as Shinies in Pokémon GO. With a little luck, you can encounter a shiny specimen during the Spotlight Hour. However, note that the shiny rate is not increased compared to Community Day.
Is the Spotlight Hour with Caterpie, Weedle & Wurmple worth it?
How strong are the monsters? The three Bug Pokémon and their evolutions are not particularly strong. Weedle, which is not only Bug type but also Poison type, has a Mega Evolution with Mega Beedrill, which can be quite helpful in raids, gym battles, and against Team GO Rocket. But there are also several other Mega Evolutions that are even better.
Who should take advantage of the event? The event is especially worthwhile for shiny hunters who still need a shiny specimen for their collection. And the Stardust bonus is a good opportunity to replenish your stock. It’s best to combine this bonus with the three strong field research tasks that are currently active.
In these, you can encounter Paras, Sableye, and Trubbish with a bit of luck. These belong to the 22 Pokémon that generally provide more Stardust when caught, which can make this really worthwhile in combination with the Spotlight Hour bonus.
