In Pokémon GO the Lunar New Year event is currently active and has brought Sen-Long into the game. We have looked at how strong it is.
What kind of event is this? The Lunar New Year event has been running since February 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM and will end on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 8:00 PM. In addition to a global challenge, some bonuses, and a paid limited research, there are also some Pokémon that stand out during the event.
One of these Pokémon is Sen-Long. The Pokémon from the 7th generation of games has the types Dragon and Normal and is available in the game for the first time. We have checked what makes this Pokémon worthwhile for you.
A big dragon with little use
Is Sen-Long worthwhile for raids? Unfortunately, Sen-Long is not a Pokémon you should take to raids. While it is generally a solid Dragon attacker, there are many Pokémon that surpass Sen-Long in the list of the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO. You should rather rely on these.
Even as a Normal attacker, Sen-Long plays no role.
Is Sen-Long worthwhile for the battle leagues? Similar to raids, the situation is the same in the battle leagues. Sen-Long cannot convince in any of the three battle leagues and unfortunately plays no role in this area. Here you should opt for other Pokémon that are worthwhile for use in the battle leagues.
Is Sen-Long worthwhile for collectors? While Sen-Long is not worth fighting, collectors will be pleased. On one hand, it is available in the game for the first time, and on the other hand, it is not known if and how you can catch Sen-Long after the event. If you want to add it to your Pokédex, you should hurry.
Additionally, Sen-Long is available as Shiny during the event, so Shiny collectors will also benefit.

- Magikarp: Has a strong evolution in Gyarados for the Master League and a solid Water attacker
- Dratini: Its evolutions Dragonair and Dragonite are worthwhile for use in various battle leagues, Dragonite is also a strong Dragon attacker
- Fennekin: Its final evolution can be used as a Fire attacker
- Minccino: With Cinccino, you get a strong Pokémon for the Super and Master League
