Pokémon GO: Friends list secretly gets an update

The friends list in Pokémon GO has received a small update that changes a minor detail of the feature.

What is the friends list? In Pokémon GO, you can add friends by entering their codes. This allows you to send each other gifts that contain items and earn experience points when you reach certain friendship levels.

Additionally, you can receive a lucky trade when you become lucky friends. This trade guarantees you a lucky Pokémon, which brings several advantages.

If you want to collect all variants of Vivillon, you will also depend on friends. For this, you need to collect postcards from different regions to obtain all patterns of Vivillon.

Small update, no announcement

What does the update include? With the update, which surprisingly made its way into the game without announcement, the maximum number of friends has been increased. Previously, you could have 400 friends on your list, and now you have the option to add up to 450 friends.

What does the community say about it? Besides some trainers who are happy about the increased number of friends, there are primarily additional wishes for improvements to the friends list. Some of them are as follows:

• We need an option for favorite friends, says one trainer on Reddit
• It would be nice if they finally added tags for friends. I use nicknames as tags, but there’s only so much information you can fit there, says another trainer on Reddit
• Great! Once I go to big events, my friends list increases by 50 at once lol. I wish we already had better organization features, notes another trainer on Reddit.
• Still, only 20 gifts can be opened per day, notes another trainer on Reddit.
