In Pokémon GO there is currently the task “Explore 1 km”, but some trainers report problems. How to solve it?
During the currently ongoing Hoenn Tour in Pokémon GO, you will receive the new special research “Legends Hunt”.
At both level 3 and level 4 of the research, you need to complete various tasks, including: “Explore 1 km”.
The phrasing varies a bit from the usual “Walk 1 kilometer” or “Run 1 kilometer” and causes problems at the same time. Some trainers report that they have walked one kilometer, but the task was not completed.

What is the problem? Some trainers, such as in the Pokémon GO subreddit “TheSilphRoad”, share their experiences with the task. A user asks what he did wrong, as the task does not want to complete despite walking longer (via reddit).
Other trainers agree:
- “The challenge is definitely faulty. On both sides, I had to walk several kilometers before the one kilometer was registered” (via reddit).

In recent days, trainers have also reported that the Adventure Sync feature is not functioning properly or that walking distances are not being accurately recorded. This could be related to the problem.
How to solve the task? Despite the wording “Explore”, it is simply about walking the distance. So you are doing nothing wrong if you just walk to collect the distance. However, it may happen that you need to walk a bit more than a kilometer.
Trainers also share tips:
- “It helps to restart the game every now and then to get the kilometers” (via reddit).

- “It is best to run straight as much as possible, back and forth often does not count” (via reddit).
So it can help to choose a direct route and, if in doubt, restart the game if you want to complete the task as quickly as possible. Over time, the task will almost solve itself if you are running anyway.
Once you have completed the one kilometer, you must complete further task steps depending on the level. This includes spinning stops and gyms, catching certain types of Pokémon, and battling Kyogre and Groudon.
However, among other rewards, you will receive proto-energies for the evolution of one of the two monsters. For both, depending on your available proto-energy, you can perform the proto-morphosis. This is one of the most important features of the Hoenn Tour.
