In Pokémon GO you can currently challenge Dynamax Regice. MeinMMO shows you how to perfectly prepare for the battle.
What kind of monster is this? Regice is a legendary Ice-type monster from Generation 3. It is part of the legendary giants, which also include Regirock, Registeel, Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas.
When is this monster in the game? You can challenge Regice for the first time in Dynamax battles on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You can find the monster in 5-star Dynamax raids and need 800 Dynamax particles to challenge the boss. If you want to start the battle remotely, you will also need a Remote Raid Pass.
How to successfully defeat Dynamax Regice
Which attackers are suitable? Regice is an Ice type. Therefore, Fighting, Rock, Steel, and Fire-type attacks are very effective against the boss.
The best attacker you can rely on is Zacian in its Sword Hero form. If you choose the legendary dog, you should teach the monster the moves Metal Claw and Giga Impact.
Alternatively, you can also rely on the following attackers, who are weaker than Zacian but still well suited:
- Gigantamax Cinderace with Fire Spin
- Gigantamax Machamp with Karate Chop
- Gigantamax Charizard with Fire Spin
- Dynamax Flapple with Fire Fang and Overheat
- Dynamax Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash
Which defenders should be used? To soak up Regice’s attacks and charge your Dynamax meter, you should rely on the following defenders:
- Dynamax Regice with Targeting Shot
- Dynamax Latias with Fire Breath
- Zamazenta (Hero of the Shield) with Metal Claw
- Dynamax Suicune with Water Gun
- Zacian (Sword Hero) with Metal Claw
- Dynamax Gallade with Psycho Cut or Low Kick
For defenders, it is crucial that they can take damage and provide a type advantage against Regice. Additionally, you should use a Fast Attack that has a duration of only 0.5 seconds to charge the Dynamax meter as quickly as possible. The Charged Attack is therefore secondary for the monsters.
Which healers are suitable? Healers are meant to provide the group with shields and healing. The following monsters are suitable for this:
- Dynamax Healer
- Dynamax Wailord
- Gigantamax Snorlax
- Gigantamax Lapras
- Dynamax Vaporeon
- Endynalos
How many trainers are needed? The exact number of trainers you need to defeat the boss depends on your team, your strategy, and a bit of luck.
On social media, you can find videos of trainers who have managed to defeat the boss solo. To do this, the trainers used a Dyna Mushroom and challenged Regice when it knows the moves Focus Blast and Earthquake.
Additionally, a strategy was applied where the trainers quickly switch out their monsters to absorb Regice’s attacks.
You can see how such a solo battle plays out in this video:
For safety, you should rely on more trainers. A maximum of 4 trainers can participate in a Dynamax battle together. Make sure that you take on different roles in the battle and organize your teams accordingly.
It is not sensible for all 4 trainers to focus solely on attackers. A balanced mix could, for example, consist of 2 attackers, one healer, and one trainer who provides shields.
Not only Dynamax Regice is waiting for you in the current month in the game. March is again packed with events, raid bosses, and other content. If you want to know what they are and when they take place, feel free to check out our overview with all events in March 2026 in Pokémon GO.
