The first Pokémon GO Community Day in 2020 is confirmed. In January, you can catch the Water Pokémon Piplup.
When is the Community Day in January? The Community Day takes place on Sunday, January 19, 2020. There is a new division of times: In the Northern Hemisphere, it will occur between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM local time, and in the Southern Hemisphere between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM local time.
Which Pokémon is in focus? The Community Day brings you the Penguin Pokémon Piplup. It is the last remaining Starter of the 4th Generation that has not yet had a Community Day, following Chelast and Panflam.
What does the Community Day in January bring – Bonuses and Pokémon
This is Piplup: Piplup has, as is usual for Starter Pokémon, two evolutions. It first evolves into Prinplup and then into Empoleon. As usual, Piplup, like all other Community Day Pokémon, will also be available in its Shiny form. The Piplup family looks like this:
What attack does Empoleon get? No specific Community Day attack has been officially announced yet. However, all signs point to the attack being Hydro Cannon. This attack was also given to Water Starter evolutions such as Blastoise, Swampert, and Feraligatr.
To get the attack, you must evolve Prinplup into Empoleon within two hours after the event.
These bonuses the Community Day brings: So far, 2 bonuses have been announced for the Community Day in January. On one hand, the distance required for egg hatching will be reduced to one-quarter. This way, you can practically profit again from hatching eggs right after the hatching marathon. Additionally, there will be three-hour lures.
The Community Day is also always a great opportunity to try out raids with many fellow players. For example, against the legendary Pokémon Heatran.
