In Pokémon GO, top raids featuring Mega Rayquaza will take place on June 29, 2024. We will explain how you can participate and how to obtain the Mega Evolution.
What kind of Pokémon is this? Rayquaza is a legendary Pokémon from Generation 3. It has the types Dragon and Flying. While the Pokémon is already a powerful attacker in its normal form, the Mega Evolution of Rayquaza is even stronger.
To trigger the Mega Evolution, you need the item Meteorite, which allows you to teach Rayquaza the charged attack Zenith Striker
. Additionally, you will also need Mega Energy for the evolution.
During the top raid day with Mega Rayquaza, you will have the opportunity to obtain both the Mega Energy and the item, as well as Rayquaza itself. However, this will be harder than what you are used to from regular raids.
All information about the top raids with Mega Rayquaza
When is the event? The event will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2024. There will be four different times when the top raids will start:
- 12:00 PM
- 1:00 PM
- 5:00 PM
- 6:00 PM
Keep an eye on the raids in your area if you want to participate in the top raids. The raid eggs that result in a raid will be visible long before the actual raid. Once a Mega Rayquaza appears, you have 45 minutes to participate in the raid.
What should I consider? Besides the times when Rayquaza appears, there is another limitation. Since these are top raids and not regular raids, the number of raids will be relatively lower.
Additionally, you cannot participate in top raids using a remote raid pass. If you want to challenge Mega Rayquaza, you must be present at the arena.
Also, note that Mega Rayquaza is a very strong Pokémon, and you should enter with appropriate good counters against Mega Rayquaza and with plenty of trainers.
If you defeat the Pokémon, you will then encounter Rayquaza. This is in its regular form.
How do I get the Mega Energy? If you successfully complete the raid, you will not only be rewarded with an encounter with a regular Rayquaza but also with Mega Energy.
The amount of Mega Energy you receive depends on how quickly the raid was completed. The faster you finish the raid, the more Mega Energy you’ll get.
How do I get the Meteorite item? In line with the event, there will also be a free, limited-time research task through which you can obtain the item. Once you have collected the item along with the necessary Mega Energy, you can trigger the Mega Evolution.
Is Shiny Rayquaza available? Yes, with some luck, you might also encounter Shiny Rayquaza after a successful raid.
