In Pokémon GO, there apparently are more Pokémon than the ones Ditto currently disguises as. We will show you which ones they are here.
What is the deal with Ditto? If you are looking for Ditto, you will never encounter it in its untransformed form. Instead, Ditto transforms into various Pokémon, and only after you have caught it will you see if it is actually a Ditto.
You can find a list of Ditto’s currently possible transformations here.
Additionally, Ditto can only be found in Pokémon GO for a limited time and not year-round, which increases the difficulty of finding and catching a Ditto.
In which Pokémon can Ditto now also hide? As the community reports, there are now additional Pokémon in which a transformed Ditto can hide. These include Arktip, Mollimorba, Monozyto, Knofensa, and Velursi.
Officially, there is no new information from Niantic regarding this. Whether there are still other Pokémon that are actually a transformed Ditto is not known.
You can find the Reddit post about it here:
Good for collectors and for older special research
What do I need Ditto for? Due to the difficulty of Ditto not being directly recognizable and you only knowing if it is a Ditto after catching it, there are still some trainers who have not been able to register Ditto in their Pokédex. Especially in its shiny form, it is a rare catch that you might be interested in and that you still lack.
Additionally, you need to catch Ditto to fulfill older special research tasks. This includes the special research for Mew as well as the special research for Meltan. Many trainers are still waiting to complete these special research tasks, as Ditto can only be found for a limited time and is not directly recognizable as Ditto.
What about you? Do you still need Ditto for the special research tasks for Mew and Meltan? Or are you still looking for the shiny variant?
Feel free to check out which events are still upcoming in December in Pokémon GO.
