In Pokémon GO, you can now more easily obtain Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz. But how? We summarize it here.
What kind of Pokémon are these? Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz are known as the “Lake Trio”. They are three legendary Pokémon from the Sinnoh region.
The special thing about the three: They are among the very rare legendary Pokémon that you can theoretically encounter while walking in the wild of Pokémon GO. However, they are really extremely rare, and even encountering just one of them is highly unlikely.
Additionally, the three are regional Pokémon. So, they exist in different places around the world.
- Tobutz in North and South America as well as Greenland
- Selfe in the Asia-Pacific region
- Vesprit in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India
In Germany, you usually only encounter Vesprit, and exceptions are rare. One of those was the GO Fest 2024 – where you had a good chance to get them all, and with some luck also as Shiny. However, since then it has become significantly more difficult again.
But: Right now, you have a better opportunity to get the three. Because they appear in raids.
How to get Selfe, Tobutz, and Vesprit in Pokémon GO
From May 12 to May 21, the three Pokémon are available in 5-star raids. This way, you can obtain them without having to hope for great luck in the wild. The problem, however, is: They all only appear in raids in their respective regions.
This means that you can easily obtain Vesprit in Germany. Just look for a corresponding 5-star raid and try to complete it.
Catching Vesprit: In the raid, you should primarily focus on Pokémon of the Bug, Ghost, and Dark types, as a Psychic Pokémon Vesprit has a type weakness here. The battle isn’t too difficult; with the right counters, you can defeat it even with just two players. Use team play to hit it with particularly high damage.

How to catch Selfe and Tobutz? If you’re not randomly in the corresponding regions of either Pokémon, you can’t easily obtain them. However, you do have an opportunity: By using Remote Raid Passes.
With a Remote Raid Pass, you can challenge raids that are located elsewhere in the world. The important thing is that you need to be invited to do so. This way, you now have several options.
- You get invited by friends in the respective regions
- Or you use an app like Pokégenie, Campfire, or similar to get invited to such a raid

Are the Pokémon worth it? They are not particularly strong fighters; there are better alternatives. But you need them, of course, to complete the Pokédex – and if you don’t have the three yet, you can grab them much more easily than usual. There’s also the chance of a Shiny, but you need particularly good luck for that.
