A user explained that he finally knows why his computer always runs hot. To demonstrate this, he shared several photos on Reddit.
But the photos shock even players who have seen and experienced a lot. Because the PC is completely covered in dust. Both the front of the computer and the radiator of the water cooling are completely covered with the gray mass. A graphics card, by the way, is not visible in either of the pictures.
Dust and dirt cause heat that throttles your PC
Basically, one can only speculate why the user’s PC looks so bad: He does not mention how long it has been since he last cleaned the PC, nor do we know if he is a heavy smoker or has pets at home.
Some users explain that they themselves either smoke or have pets (or both), but their own gaming PC has never looked that bad. There are recurring reports that gaming PCs can look terrible after many years if you don’t take care of the technology.
Why should you clean your computer regularly? Dirt and dust block access routes for air or your fans. This then causes some components to not dissipate heat properly and therefore overheat.
The processor and graphics card then throttle performance to cope with the heat or shut down in an emergency to protect components. Your PC will thus become increasingly slower.
Especially pets can be a reason why your gaming PC gets dirty very quickly. Then you not only have dust, but also pet hair stuck in your system.
