A player sends in their broken graphics card and instead receives a better model back. The upgrade has paid off for them, but in everyday life, one should still opt for the cheaper graphics card. The high price difference is usually hardly justifiable.
A player reports on Reddit that their graphics card has broken down. Since their graphics card is still under warranty, they sent their model directly to the manufacturer to request a repair or exchange.
But instead of repairing their graphics card or replacing it with the same model, PNY exchanged the broken device for a faster version: Instead of an RTX 5070, the user received an RTX 5070 Ti. With the current market prices, this corresponds to an upgrade of about 350 to 400 euros (as of April 1, 2026).
RTX 5070 is significantly faster, but the price difference is hardly justifiable right now
Is the upgrade worth it? The Ti version is faster and more powerful than the standard version of the RTX 5070 in several respects. On the one hand, the Ti variant offers more video memory (12 vs 16 GB) and additionally more CUDA cores, which makes it more powerful. While the RTX 5070 is a purely WQHD card, with the RTX 5070 Ti you get a GPU that can even handle 4K with some compromises.
If you look at the current market prices for example on Geizhals.de, the high price difference for the Ti version is generally hardly justifiable: With today’s prices, you pay about 400 euros more for the Ti version than for a normal RTX 5070. For pure WQHD gaming, the normal RTX 5070 remains the more recommendable option, or simply AMD’s alternative, the RX 9070 XT. We count both among the currently best graphics cards you can buy.
