In Starfield you can take companions on your journey, flirt with them, and even marry them. However, one player was so disappointed with his wedding in the RPG that he made a rage quit.
On Reddit, the user “Ka0sin” described that he courted Sam Coe and prepared for the wedding. The preparation and the wedding itself made him really angry. He criticizes the romantic choices in the game and some game content.
Sam Coe is one of 20 companions you can recruit for your crew in Starfield. The companions also have their own backstory.
Too little connection to the character, too few options
This is what the player criticizes: On October 15, the user “Ka0sin” posted his contribution titled “Getting Married Made Me Rage Quit Today” on Reddit. There he describes that he courted Sam Coe and wanted to get married.
However, he had to ask Jacob Coe, Sam’s father, for his blessing, pick up Sam’s ex-girlfriend from the spaceport, and Sam’s daughter Cora from the bookstore beforehand.
Three things bothered him about the entire wedding situation:
First: Why isn’t the wedding held at ‘The Lodge’? Sam hasn’t spent a longer time at the Coe Estate in the last ten years and it has no significance for us as a couple.
Second: WTF?! Why are his ex and estranged father at our wedding, but not the members of Constellation, my parents, or really anyone significant to my character?
Third: Why just a few words and then poof, thanks, Mom?! MMORPGs have had wedding fanfares for ages, and even Skyrim made an effort to actually celebrate weddings.
That was just as lazy as the fact that there are only 4 optional romance options in a game […].

Another player had a little marital crisis because he wanted to donate money:
This is what other players say about it: The post currently has 1,800 upvotes and over 450 comments in the Starfield subreddit. In the comments, other players describe their experiences with romances and weddings in Starfield. Others express wishes and notes that are to be read with a wink.
The comment with the most upvotes comes from “Muldino”. He writes: “To marry Andreja, you have to fly to a planet and dig in the dirt for 2 seconds. Done.” (via Reddit). The user welk101 replies: “Do you kids call it that these days?”
“Creepscape” refers in his comment to the described absence of parents in the Reddit post: “My parents better come to my wedding; I give them pocket money every week.” (via Reddit). “I can confirm that they don’t,” replies “angrymacface.”
The user “Flicksterea” agrees with the post creator that “the romances are half-baked, especially when it comes to the wedding ceremony. And none of the other companions congratulated us at all. It’s as if it never happened.” (via Reddit).
Some players have already completed several runs in Starfield. And there are even different scenarios presented to you, as different circumstances can occur in each run.
NPCs then behave quite differently and surprise the players as a result. One player has now experienced in his fourth run of Starfield what it feels like to be betrayed by one of these NPCs:
Starfield shocks a player in his 4th run because he is betrayed by a beloved NPC.
