Nomi causes some frustration among players of World of Warcraft. The chef can do a lot – just not cook properly.

Professions have long been a staple of World of Warcraft, and with Legion, the developers wanted to give these activities a special touch. This has been successful in some cases – in others, not so much.

Nomi – not the chef he is believed to be

Players are currently experiencing a lot of frustration with cooking. In a few days, raids will begin, and everyone wants the coveted buff food.
Cooking works differently in Legion than before. Players do not need to research recipes themselves; most of this task is handled by the Pandaren Nomi, whom we remember from “Mists of Pandaria”.

The process itself is simple: You hand Nomi a lot of materials, and he gradually cooks them as work orders. After a certain waiting period, you can pick up your products – mostly burnt food. Occasionally, however, Nomi discovers a new recipe that the player can then learn. Sometimes, the motivated Pandaren also burns stacks of good meat without producing anything at all.

The developers say: This is intentional. Nomi will gradually become better in the coming weeks and months – the further the expansion progresses, the more useful recipes Nomi produces.

However, there is still a bug related to Nomi. If you keep handing the Pandaren the same type of meat, you often receive 4 or even 5 units of the same recipe. These can only be looted individually (since they are unique) and must then be deleted manually. One by one and in order. Blizzard is working on a hotfix – but without a definitive timeframe.

World of Warcraft: Legion is full of mysteries. One of the eeriest so far rests in the Nightmare of Val’Sharah – in the area “Dreadroot”.

The latest expansion of World of Warcraft has often proven in recent weeks that there are some secrets that will probably not be deciphered for many months. However, not all stories are as positive and cheerful as that of the long-forgotten Hippogryph.

The “Rose” from Dreadroot

In Val’Sharah, the Nightmare breaks through the corrupted World Tree into Azeroth and has ruined large parts of the landscape. One place is a former Night Elf settlement, now called “Dreadroot”. During the leveling phase, players only briefly pass by Tyrande Whisperwind here – there is a bonus quest and a rare enemy as well as later a world quest.

However, those who are observant will find plenty of eerie things here. In total, there are 7 notes scattered on the ground that can be clicked and read. For most players, the papers consist of gibberish – they are written in Darnassian. However, if a Night Elf interacts with the notes, they can read the messages. And they are creepy.

On the first notes, one can read the following (abridged):

“Every rose has its thorns. Every rose has its thorns. Every rose has its thorns. Every rose has its thorns. Every rose has its thorns. (…)”

The second message does not provide much clarity (also abridged):

“I am a rose. I am a rose. I am a rose. I am a rose. I am a rose. I am a rose. I am a rose. I am a rose. (…)”

The last message is somewhat hidden and can be found on the shelf in the house of Dreadroot. It is lengthier – and no less bizarre:

“If I am a rose, then I have thorns, but if I have thorns, then I am not pure, and if I am not pure, then I am not worthy, and if I am not worthy, then I will suffer, and if I will suffer, I will make sure that all the other unworthy will suffer and suffer and suffer and suffer…”

As if these messages weren’t creepy enough, the place has even more to offer. Those who look closely at the house will discover a striking number of skeletons, many of which have flowers growing out of their skulls – roses, to be precise. More than 10 skeletons can be found, some even lying in a grave dug especially for that purpose.

Magoria – just a “Named Mob” or a terrible fate?

But the spook doesn’t end there. Near the house, there is an elite opponent named “Magoria”. This enemy does not belong to any questline and does not leave any notable loot. He (or in the case of the name: she?) simply walks up and down the river, spewing “Seeping Eyes” repeatedly – regardless of whether anyone is fighting Magoria.

Particularly eerie: Magoria is classified as a “Humanoid”. This can only be a mistake or indicate a terrible incident that took place there. In any case, priests (Mind Control) and rogues (Persuade) can control Magoria for a set period. But even then, he/she/it still spits out eyes (and in doing so frightens itself).

But what has happened in Dreadroot? Do all these things tell a bizarre story of how a druid slowly succumbs to the Nightmare? What is the deal with the roses? Who or what exactly is Magoria?

What all these clues actually mean seems to still be a mystery. Perhaps there will be more information in the upcoming raid instance or the area will be needed for a yet-to-be-unlocked quest. All the messages there suggest an exciting story that will hopefully be deciphered soon.

In any case, this story proves one thing: World of Warcraft is once again full of mysteries and it’s fun to slowly get to the bottom of it. Even if some nightmares are probably better left unexplained.

Shadow Priests in World of Warcraft can rejoice: The Shadowform is returning to the game with a toggle switch. Additionally, there’s a hefty damage buff.

With the extensive class changes in World of Warcraft: Legion, there were some winners and also a few losers. On the shadowy side (Ha!), the Priests with the Shadow specialization were rather unfortunate.

Too shadowy and too weak

Even during leveling, it was noticeable that enemies fall very slowly and it’s quickly over when facing multiple opponents at once. But that was not the only complaint. Shadow Priests could not deactivate their Shadowform since patch 7.0.3 – it was a fixed part of the specialization. Only when switching to “Discipline” or “Holy”, could one admire their character in full splendor and without all that shadowy appearance. Especially annoying: Not even the cool artifact weapon Xal’atath can be seen in all its glory, as it also becomes transparent in Shadowform.

Due to numerous complaints in the forum, Blizzard is rolling back with Patch 7.1 and grants Shadow Priests their Shadowform back as a skill. In detail, the changes are as follows:

“Shadowform returns as a new spell for Shadow Priests:

• Assume a Shadowform that increases shadow damage dealt by 10% and reduces physical damage taken by 10%.
• You cannot cast Holy spells in this form.
• The “shadowy appearance” is tied to the Shadowform.
• Voidform now enhances Shadowform. It automatically activates Shadowform (if not already active), and you receive the bonuses from both forms.
• When Voidform ends, you return to Shadowform.

However, the actual playstyle does not change at all. In combat, the Shadow form will be permanently active anyway (you would be pretty dumb not to do it), and only the two buffs will come into play. Outside of battles, Priests can also shed their shadowy guise – just like before.

Cortyn says: I’m pretty happy about this small change because I have missed being able to occasionally drop the Shadowform. It was also simply impractical to have to look at the great new gear in another specialization to decide whether it visually fits at all. Although in Shadowform everything fits together anyway. Always. It also makes transmogging somehow boring.
