The fantasy MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV (PC, PS4) introduces two items with its new expansion Stormblood that allow players to take a shortcut. For real money, the main story is instantly completed and the hero is set to a high level. Our author Leya met with chief developer Naoki Yoshida at a preview event for Stormblood. She learned more about the controversial feature and the simplification of the game.
The MMO player of today is different from the past. He is much busier, always has something to do, and thirsts for quick entertainment. We live in a bustling time where one prefers not to take on additional commitments alongside obligations like work, household, or children. Casual gaming – playing without pressure – fits many better with their lifestyle than a deep commitment to an MMORPG.
This group of gamers can no longer be served by the complex MMO Final Fantasy XIV.
Naoki Yoshida is the chief developer of FFXIV and described this change in his players. At the preview event for Stormblood, he stated that it is too difficult for new players to find a starting point in Final Fantasy XIV.
In addition to the new content, there will be many adjustments with Stormblood that simplify the MMORPG. Two items will also be added to the shop, which will allow players to significantly shorten the MMORPG experience and jump directly to the endgame. The items are also called Jumping Potions.
Adjustment of job actions and skills for better clarity: The adjustment of job actions and skills makes up a large part of this simplification. The action bar was too cluttered for the developers, and they decided to remove or replace some actions. The system will be adjusted so that the actions are now tailored to the roles of the characters: Tank, Healer, Damage Dealer, or Mage. This will make actions disappear from the cluttered bar, improving clarity.

Jumping Potions intended as a shortcut – they are expensive:Jumping Potions are two boost items that will launch in the shop with Stormblood. For real money, players can skip the main story and once instantly set a job to maximum level. Jobs in FFXIV are the classes that a character can learn. This feature is controversial and is being discussed in the community. Some believe that grinding through the story and the game is essential to a real MMO. Others have a problem with the high price, as the potions are costly. A job boost costs €21.75. The story shortcut for the base game costs €15.75 and €21.75 if you also want the Heavensward expansion on top. Additionally, you still pay monthly fees of €12.99.
If we had given the potions for free, players would have been even more upset
The developers do not want everyone to use these items. The high price is meant to be a hurdle and encourage players to carefully consider the shortcut option.
Buying the story and job boost together totals the price of a new game – €43.50. This is intended to ensure a good balance in the game.
If suddenly every new player used these potions, it could disturb the balance of the endgame, and veteran players would be even more upset. Endgame content filled with inexperienced players can lead to frustration.
Players who have struggled through all content may feel that their achievements are not appreciated. Time is precious, and the potions are meant to reflect this value. Yoshida emphasized that the potions have a limit. Each account can only unlock the job boost once. If the developers wanted to earn a lot of money from the boosts, they would not have set a limit.
They aim to provide an option for players who cannot or do not want to invest time to still be able to participate.
Yoshida compared FFXIV to a mountain. When a new player stands at the bottom and looks up, it appears impossible and intimidating to start climbing. However, if players are placed halfway or three-quarters up the mountain, it no longer seems impossible.
The data and experience show that players no longer have time for MMORPGs
The Jumping Potions and the streamlining of Final Fantasy XIV cater to the modern gamer. The developers closely observe their players and analyze their data.
It was found in the database that players are spending less and less time in the game. They looked into how often an account logged in, how long they were logged in, and when they logged out.
The developers created surveys to find out why people are not playing FFXIV anymore or are playing less.
Time. The lack of time was at the forefront for many. Yoshida talked about the data analyses and his own experience. He used to have a large group of friends with whom he spent a lot of time in MMOs. Most have now transitioned to casual games and MOBAs.
Yoshida sees this trend and is aware that many gamers now prefer quick and fleeting entertainment. They no longer want to marry themselves to a game.
Zelda is the reason Final Fantasy XIV is transforming now
Yoshida describes himself as an absolute MMO junkie and enthusiastically plays his own game – Final Fantasy XIV. Nevertheless, he also checks out other titles from time to time. A masterpiece for the developer is Zelda – Breath of the Wild. He enjoys the game as a player but also asks himself questions like “Why do I like this game so much? How do they do it?”
As a developer, Yoshida attempts to learn from other games.
Who would have thought that Zelda would influence Final Fantasy XIV?
While playing, he noticed something: Zelda broke its own rules. In the Zelda series, the main character Link usually uses a shield, a sword, and a bow. In Breath of the Wild, this rule is broken. Link uses, for example, an axe or a spear. The weapons can also break, which is a new mechanic.
Yoshida found this bold and learned that Final Fantasy XIV must evolve to keep the game engaging and successful in the long term.
Will the changes be able to fill new positions in Final Fantasy XIV?
Regular players and “beginners who bought their way up” – can it work?
Leya says: Whether players will accept the changes as Yoshida hopes remains to be seen. Veteran players are skeptical and feel that grinding through the game is simply part of an MMO. New players might find the price of the potions too high.
Many also doubt whether it can actually work for newbies to play alongside veterans. Because despite the streamlining, Final Fantasy XIV remains a complex game.
I myself created an account in preparation for the event and felt immediately overwhelmed by the complexity. I gave up quickly.
At the press event, I tested the already implemented simplifications. I ventured into a dungeon with 3 veteran players. Since our group – as always – had no healer and wanted to play, I took on the role. My veteran companions recommended a White Mage for me to start with.
With patience and humor, it can succeed
On the first run, I couldn’t keep my team alive, and our tank died right at the first mini-boss. With humor, we dove back into the fray, and with (a lot of) help from my group, it went better on the second try. It took one more attempt and valuable tips from a main healer. But then we defeated the end boss and cleared the entire dungeon.
If you want to play alongside experienced players and don’t have time to level up, these potions can indeed work based on my first impression. Veterans can guide you until you get the hang of it. However, they must also be patient with the newcomer. Using the potions solo and successfully playing through the end content without experience – I find that difficult.
In the MMORPG Crowfall, you create your own hero, which you are also allowed to customize – but only to a certain extent.
Until recently, races and classes were tied together in Crowfall. However, a higher budget for the game allowed you to assemble a more individualized hero. Class and race are now separate.
Additionally, there is the possibility to customize the appearance of the character. However, you are not entirely free in this regard.
Not every race-class combination can look the same
This was explained using the example of the Confessor class. If you want to play a Confessor focused on fire magic, you can also choose the race. However, in terms of appearance, you are somewhat limited. A Confessor must sacrifice a part of its “beauty” for its power. This means you cannot choose every hairstyle and “head”. For another class, it looks different. Certain hairstyles, skin colors, and heads are lore-restricted to specific race-class combinations.
Heroes are meant to look unique
The developers want to provide players with as much freedom as possible, while also keeping the races and classes visually interesting and unique. For example, an elven knight should not look the same as an elven Confessor. However, the hope is that players will feel that they can play a hero that truly looks unique and plays accordingly.
The MMORPG Crowfall is currently in the alpha phase and is constantly being expanded. A soft launch is planned, but the date is currently not yet set.
Some gamers simply have no limits – with a player level of 3000 in Overwatch , you have to play more than 6 hours every day!
In the hero shooter Overwatch, players are always chasing new records. Sometimes it’s about the highest damage dealt, the most healing, and the most eliminations. But no value expresses how much time one has spent in the game as much as the player’s level. As reported by colleagues from GameStar, one player has now topped it all: the current record is held by the player Desterix_452, as he has now reached a player level of 3,000!

Level 3,000 is anything but a walk in the park. It actually accounts for nearly 2210 hours of game time in Overwatch and more than 17,000 matches played. This means that Desterix_452 has played nearly 6 hours daily since the release of the game last year.
He also has favorite heroes. Almost 5,000 of the 17,000 matches were played with the healer Lúcio. 2700 games were on Genji and 1500 more on Hanzo. All other heroes are far behind.
Interestingly, Desterix apparently doesn’t care much for the ranked game mode. Even though he has achieved a more than decent skill rating of 3639 (placing him in the top 11%), he spends most of his time in Quick Match, where games last only a few minutes and usually run a bit looser. It’s unclear how many additional hours he spent in the Arcade, as these values are not recorded by websites like masteroverwatch.
It was played on the PlayStation 4.What level have you achieved in Overwatch? Have you unlocked a silver or even a golden portrait? Or is the player level not that important to you?
The beleaguered online role-playing game Echo of Soul is getting another substantial dose of new content. Over the course of the year, three major updates under the name “Echo of Soul: Phoenix” are set to be released.
Echo of Soul is an MMORPG that has a tumultuous history. Initially, it was successful in Korea, but then it collapsed due to a lack of endgame content. Eventually, it was completely shut down.
After that, there was a rather lackluster release in the West and a relaunch in Korea under the Black Desert publishers Kakao Games. Now, the Western publisher Aria Games, along with the developers Mr Blue (actually a Korean comic publisher), wants to release a new massive update titled “Echo of Soul: Phoenix”.
Echo of Soul: New content for the West, expansion into the Middle East
The major Phoenix update is set to bring substantial new content to the West servers of Echo of Soul. The update will be released sometime in 2017. What exactly it will contain is still unknown. The Phoenix firebird seems to play a prominent role.
In order for Echo of Soul to bring even more success to the developers at Mr Blue, they successfully negotiated with publishers to release the game in the Middle East and Turkey.
The China version was already secured under publisher Hoga by the end of April. The Korean relaunch version still belongs to Daum/Kakao Games.
Can games just be “finished”? Cortyn believes that constant patches and new content have their downsides as well.
Basically, I consider change to be a good thing. It leads to improvement and progress. But there are also areas where I would simply prefer to have “everything as it was,” without a new hero or game mechanic appearing every month.
If I want to play a round of “Super Smash Bros.” against friends on my old Nintendo 64, I can be sure that the game is still exactly as it was 18 years ago. All moves work just like they did back then, and if I’m in a really bad mood, I can take down my enemies as Link with the Down-and-A attack.
An example where I noticed this extremely was TERA. I played the game quite intensively for about half a year at the first release with my Destroyer. I enjoyed the world, did a lot of RP, and could take down most BAMs by myself – I was proud of that back then. Three months ago, I logged into TERA again, and a lot had happened. The transition to Free2Play, the overhaul of all classes, a comprehensive redesign of the interface, many new game modes for PvP or dungeons, and of course, numerous new classes.
As great as the new possibilities may be: I couldn’t handle it anymore. After about an hour, TERA was removed from my hard drive again. The game had changed so much that I couldn’t find a point to re-enter. I wandered aimlessly, couldn’t manage the key bindings anymore, and didn’t really know where I was supposed to go or why. It wasn’t fun.
Too many innovations hinder re-entry
Constant new content may be good, but it increases the hurdle I need to overcome to get back into a game. With each god release of SMITE, it becomes less likely that I will ever “really” start looking into the MOBA again. The same will probably happen with Heroes of the Storm once I lose interest in the game for a few months.
That’s why I wish that some games – like Overwatch, Hearthstone, or even Dead by Daylight – would just be “finished” again. That if I stop today, I can come back in three years and dive right back in without having to study new abilities, heroes, cards, and game modes.
I miss this consistency in the fast-paced world of constant patches and the demand for “more and more content.” Am I the only one feeling this way? Or can you relate to me?

Loadouts: These are now in the game. They were implemented early with 1.6.1
Seasons: Events designed to increase the replayability of existing content
Feats: Cosmetic items that are intended to show player progress
Now there are more details about the “Seasons” and “Feats”.
Seasons Become Global Events
The seasons are now called global events. They take place once a month and last for one week (may vary):
A global modifier will be active that affects all PvE content (these should be “positive” modifiers that make the content more fun – and easier)
During the event, special activities will be packed into a playlist. Additional activity modifiers can be added to this playlist to make the content more challenging, or a group modifier can be added to include group mechanics – this will require more teamwork and coordination.
These modifiers increase the chances of receiving better rewards at the end
During a global event, you can earn new items, stat items. This allows you to further customize your character builds.
Additionally, there are “global event” tokens to earn during the events. You can use these to open crates that will have a new type of loot. These items are not supposed to be cosmetic items.

The feats are called “commendations” in 1.7, which translates to “awards” in English. These are in-game achievements. When you achieve the specified goals, there are rewards.
Some commendations reward you with points upon completion that increase your overall score. With a high score, you gain “bragging rights”.
Other commendations directly grant new cosmetic items (these are supposed to be different from those we know). This way, you can show in the game what you’ve already achieved.
There are many commendations. Some are meant to be completed passively during normal play, while others require a change in playstyle. Some are said to be very challenging.
Commendations are account-wide.
Tomorrow, on June 1st, the “State of the Game” livestream will take place. We can expect further info about 1.7. We will report on it.
More Info:
Update 1.8 brings a new rogue mechanic, new features, and various content
Update 1.7 is expected to deliver more than just the previously introduced content. It is expected in summer.
There are supposed to be completely new content in year 2 – not just rehashed old content. rxlyaT says he would even pay for that (all content in year 2 is free).
The closed beta of the online shooter Escape from Tarkov was supposed to start a few months ago, but the developers are taking more time to provide a good player experience. The shooter is considered ultra-realistic and hardcore.
Now there is an update regarding the status of the beta. According to this, the closed testing phase is approaching rapidly. The final systems are being optimized, and some things are still in the works. However, the goals set for the closed beta are coming within reach.
The game is being worked on diligently
Among the things currently still being worked on are:
Optimizations and bug fixes as well as further work and improvements on animations, equipment, external modules, and more.
Quests will be implemented soon. Currently, the focus is on incorporating trader missions and working on quests that are intended to help the player earn money, receive rare rewards, and gather resources.
A “insurance system” for all who participate in raids and lose equipment due to defeat.
Loot and economy – This includes tools for trading, medicine, and a revision of the balancing of existing systems.
New customizations for weapons.
A new area that is supposed to be twice as large as the forest landscape. However, the first version will still be small but will be expanded steadily.
Improvements to chat.
Bug fixing
Currently, there is no date when the closed beta of the online shooter Escape from Tarkov can be expected.

A cult of fanatic Christians as opponents in the new Far Cry 5? Not everyone likes this, or at least it gives rise to trolling.
Ubisoft has introduced Far Cry 5. As opponents, they have chosen a Christian fundamentalist cult. This becomes a controversial topic in the charged climate of the USA.
For there is a rift running through the USA: On the coasts and in the big cities, many people have different views and problems than those in rural areas. The social, religious, and economic differences harbor enormous potential for conflict in a divided society.

Far Cry contains political dynamite – and trolls have lighters – For the lulz
A game that plays with this divide in the background becomes a political issue: In the eyes of some, it demonizes the hardworking, Christian-conservative rural population and turns them into villains. In the eyes of those critics, political goals are being pursued.
However, there are also people on the Internet who enjoy such a situation – in places like 4chan, a culture of “for the lulz” has emerged. Just for fun, they poke the hornet’s nests and rejoice when something happens. Political correctness and any kind of restriction on freedom of speech are the arch-enemy. There are no taboos, no consideration for feelings or sensitivities. Anonymity protects the instigators.
Villains in Far Cry 5 should become Islamists – Also more Black and Hispanic characters
There are calls for Ubisoft to absolutely change the villains in Far Cry 5. They are totally unrealistic. They should be Islamists, and violence from “inner-city gangs” is also on the rise.
Even if American Christians are used as villains, more racial diversity should be brought in – not just Whites at the table. There are many nationalities – Ubisoft should include a few Black and Hispanic characters.
As a tip for Ubisoft, they also suggest adapting the setting to the market. Anti-Americanism might be okay for France. But certainly not for Americans. For the US market, it would be better to set Far Cry 5 in Canada.
Petition as satire
The petition is recognizable as a biting satire with some allusions to recurring themes on 4chan like Gamergate. It is clear that this is about “for the lulz”.
Ironically, Ubisoft has at least complied with one of these demands, likely without knowing it. In an image showing a larger section of the famous cover art, a Black character is visible. Perhaps this will appease “Gamers United.”
Rogues get an exclusive pickpocketing quest in patch 7.2.5 of World of Warcraft – big gold rewards await!
Thanks to the order campaigns, almost all classes in World of Warcraft: Legion have been able to experience a large part of their class fantasy. However, rogues have largely lost one aspect that has often been an important “minigame”: pickpocketing.
Rogues can pickpocket most humanoid (and demonic) enemies with an ability. In Legion, there’s mostly just junk or a few copper coins to find. Occasionally, one might find a coin for Marin Noggenfogger, which can be exchanged for random rewards in the order hall – but the true “theft” feeling is not present.
With patch 7.2.5, that should change! There will be a series of new pickpocketing quests.
A quest starts with pickpocketing on the Broken Isles. Players must buy a magic lamp in the rogue hall from Griftah (a troll NPC), which houses a genie. Players need to steal “coins of the air” for this genie, which can be obtained from almost every mob in Legion. By collecting the coins, the genie becomes stronger and the magic lamp is further upgraded. Ultimately, even larger “treasures” can be stolen from enemies, which can be exchanged for several hundred or thousands of coins of the air.
Through a weekly quest, players can repeatedly earn 5,000 gold pieces – a solid, small source of income. Those who collect more coins can earn 500 gold each time they do so – but that will take some time.
Further rewards are not yet certain, but there are hints of specific rogue pets and unique shirts that visually match the genie. Whether these rewards will actually come into the game, we will likely find out only with the release of patch 7.2.5.
A similar system already existed in Warlords of Draenor with Griftah and the Shabby Iron Coins. Here too, players could unlock much gold as well as some toys and special belts.
The rewards of the Arena of Hearthstone often lead to dissatisfaction. The Game Director wants to change that.
Among the most lucrative game modes of Hearthstone is the Arena. For 150 gold coins or nearly €2, players can assemble a deck by repeatedly choosing from three cards. With this deck, they can compete until they achieve either 12 wins or suffer 3 losses.
Depending on how many wins are achieved before exiting, a different number of reward chests are provided afterward. These contain gold, arcane dust, card packs, or sometimes even individual cards. However, these cards are often a source of frustration. Quite frequently, a pack contains only a common card and isn’t even golden. For many players, this feels like mockery, as the value of this reward chest is less than one-fifth of a card pack.
Ben Brode, the Game Director of Hearthstone, has addressed this issue and explained on Reddit that this feedback is highly valued. In a future update, they plan to revise the Arena rewards.
However, it is not about a blunt increase in value, but rather a redistribution of rewards. The “overall value” of the rewards should not change. This means in clear terms that if they enhance the chest with the common non-golden card, then one of the other chests must lose some value. However, they did not specify concrete plans for this.
In the future, the developers of Hearthstone aim to deliver smaller updates more quickly to address bugs and other issues early on. They acknowledge that this hasn’t worked very well so far.
By the way: “Earlier,” the “common non-golden cards” were still a reward chest containing 5 arcane dust – making them even less valuable. In comparison, a single card looks much better, doesn’t it?
In the new trailer, Ubisoft presents the Fallen Ghosts DLC for Ghost Recon Wildlands, which is now available for download for premium members.
With the new expansion “Fallen Ghosts”, Ubisoft provides players of Ghost Recon Wildlands with new content for the tactical shooter. After the first DLC “Narco Road” was focused on action with racing cars and monster trucks, Fallen Ghosts brings combat content. At least the four new enemy types shown briefly in the trailer suggest this.
For players with a premium pass, Fallen Ghosts is available from today. Players without a premium pass will have to wait until June 6 for Fallen Ghosts.

Warframe, the dark science fiction shooter game by Digital Extremes, has a deep and exciting story. This story will soon not only be told in the game, as a comic series based on Warframe is planned.
Warframe is a coop shooter set in a distant, dark future. Our solar system is dominated by fascist and degenerate clones, completely immoral corporations full of “Grofit-greed” and repugnant mutant aliens. Only the Tenno, a type of space ninjas with biomechanical suits, fight against the hostile scum after a long cryosleep.
Until now, you could only experience this battle as a Tenno in the game itself, but soon the bizarre Warframe universe will be brought to you closer as a comic.
Warframe – Comic series with free start
Matt Hawkins, the CEO of the comic publisher Top Cow, is friends with Sheldon Carter, the head of Warframe. Therefore, Carter showed his buddy Warframe about a year ago, and since then Hawkins has been fascinated by the game’s dark world. So it was only a matter of time before they thought about creating a Warframe comic.
A comic series about Warframe is now a done deal. The first issue will be free. You can download it for free approximately three weeks from now and view it digitally, or you can go to the San Diego Comic Con or the Tenno Con. There you will receive a free print edition while supplies last. The series is set to officially launch between September and November 2017 and will consist of five issues. However, these will no longer be free.
Warframe Comic – Human and new villains
The story of the comics revolves around the Grineer, a people of genetically defective clones who have established a military dictatorship on Earth. Their General Vor occupies an island and searches for an artifact from the Orokin era, a golden and long-lost time.
The Warframe Excalibur wants to prevent Vor from getting the artifact and confronts the clone general. While the Grineer are merely cannon fodder in the game, they are meant to receive a bit more humanity in the comic. Especially General Vor might appear almost sympathetic according to Matt Hawkins.
It fits that he is probably not the only and last villain in the comic. In addition to a completely new type of Grineer, a new arch-villain is also set to make their debut in the comic before they appear in the game.

A new TOTS in the “Ultimate Team” mode of FIFA 17 is live! While the major leagues receive their Teams of the Season on Fridays, the smaller leagues will take their turn on Tuesdays at 7 PM. In addition to the Bundesliga TOTS, the TOTS of the Turkish Süper Lig and the Saudi Arabian Dawry Jameel League are now available in packs.
The MMORPG Legends of Aria evolved from the online RPG Shards Online and aims to offer players great freedom now.
The so-called “Emergent Gameplay” is at the forefront of Legends of Aria. This refers to the players’ freedoms to do all they want and to carve their own path, mastering situations in their own way and changing the world.
This essentially represents a strong contrast to theme park games like World of Warcraft.
Players should not follow a predetermined path
In World of Warcraft, quests proceed almost like on rails. There is a predetermined story, a goal to achieve, and a specific way to reach that goal. Every player taking on that quest follows exactly the same path and receives the same outcome at the end. This is not intended to be the case in Legends of Aria.
There will be no predetermined paths to achieve anything. Players need to find their own ways and methods. This way, players should feel much more like a part of the game world and not be restricted in what they can do.
How players complete tasks is up to them. Will they pick the lock to the treasury or blow up the door? Will they ambush the guard and steal the key? Will they transform into a mouse and crawl under the door? Such freedoms, according to Warren Spector, are what makes the medium of video games so special.
Many freedoms for players
And such freedoms should be enjoyed by players in Legends of Aria. The game’s developers are aware that this may not be to everyone’s liking. After all, World of Warcraft as a theme park game is extremely successful. And in a way, WoW is also competition. Because those who play WoW have less time for other players.
However, the developers of Legends of Aria believe that there are many players who desire more freedom in an MMORPG. And they want to give these freedoms. The online game is expected to be released later this year.

Many fans wish for a campaign in Overwatch . Blizzard has now responded to a fan inquiry.
Overwatch is very popular, but there is one criticism from many players: they long for a campaign. Especially after the event “Uprising”, where players could complete a short PvE mission, the hunger for more was awakened.
The story of Overwatch has become very extensive, and there are pages of entries about most characters in various wikis that cover all story details. Many of these are told in cinematics, comics, or the small dialogues within the game. It is all the more frustrating for many fans that Overwatch as a game itself does not place much value on telling the story.
On Twitter, user Loy Turns asked if Blizzard has any plans to ever release a single-player campaign for Overwatch. The relatively disappointing answer came quickly: there are currently no plans for that.

Many fans had hoped after the success of “Uprising” that Blizzard was already working on a campaign behind the scenes, but these dreams seem to be shattered for the time being.
There is a small loophole in the statement, though. Since the questioner explicitly asked about a “single-player campaign”, many fans are feeling new hope. Because a denial of the single-player campaign does not mean that a multiplayer campaign in the style of “Uprising” is also ruled out. So many fans hope that this was just a clever choice of words to “hide” that a 4-player campaign is already in development. However, this divides the community, and one half of the players hopes that the other half does not cling to their dream wishes.
Update 9.19 for World of Tanks brings ranked battles and a special new currency called War Bonds. With it, you can purchase particularly powerful equipment and directives.
The upcoming update 9.19 for World of Tanks brings ranked battles, in which you can earn a special currency called War Bonds. These bonds are extremely valuable, as you use them to purchase special equipment.
World of Tanks – Update 9.19 improves equipment and directives
War Bonds can only be obtained in ranked battles and only at the end of sections. The amount depends on your ranking position. Additionally, there’s a large batch of bonds at the end of a season. You can use the bonds to purchase special equipment, which replaces the standard version of it.
The ventilation system increases crew skills by 7.5 percent
A stabilization system reduces dispersion during movement and turret rotation by 25 percent
The innovative loading system reduces reload time by 12.5 percent
The wear-resistant gun drive decreases target acquisition time by 12.5 percent
An experimental optic increases visibility by 12.5 percent up to 445 meters
The extended spare parts kit decreases repair speed by 40 percent
In addition to the improved equipment, there are new consumables called directives, which apply to a battle. They also cost bonds. Directives provide you with strong bonuses to your team performance or your equipment, such as a boost to your fire-fighting or even shorter reload times.
Patch 9.19 is still in beta but is expected to go live later this week.
In Destiny 2, fundamental changes are coming to the armor pieces. Additionally, exotic armors are already known.
In Destiny 1, three things determine the value of your armor:
The Defense: This value reduces damage from enemies and contributes to your character’s light level (maximum 400)
The Perks: These grant you special bonuses
The Attributes: Intellect shortens the cooldown of your Super, Discipline that of your grenade, and Strength that of your melee. The higher these attributes, the more often you can use your abilities.
This tripartite division of gear stats will be dissolved in Destiny 2. The attributes will be removed, and armor pieces will then influence three other stats.
The attributes Intellect, Discipline, and Strength will disappear in Destiny 2. This means that your armor pieces can no longer influence the cooldowns of the three abilities in this way. Moreover, there will also be a fourth ability in Destiny 2, the class ability.
In the character menu, the three attributes will be replaced by Armor, Agility, and Recovery:
Armor: Increases the amount of damage you can take before you die
Agility: Increases movement speed and maximum jump height
Recovery: Increases the speed at which you regenerate lost health
Experienced Guardians will already be familiar with these values: They are displayed in Destiny 1 in the focus overview. Certain focus nodes can be adjusted there.
A look at already known focuses shows, however, that these focus nodes will be absent in Destiny 2. In other words, it will no longer be the focus, but rather the armor pieces that will determine armor, agility, and recovery. This will likely open up more possibilities to influence these individually.
In the character menu, the three values are displayed with a bar indicator for each armor piece:
Armor pieces still have a defensive value (here 200) and perks. Previously known perks:
Additional mobility at the cost of “shield strength” (and vice versa)
Grenades recharge faster (the cooldowns of the abilities can therefore be reduced in Destiny 2 through perks)
Improved weapon handling
Class ability charges faster
By the way: The classification into helmet, gloves, chest armor, leg armor, and class items remains. The slot filled with artifacts in Destiny 1 was locked with a lock symbol during the gameplay premiere.
Exotic Armor Pieces in Destiny 2
We have already presented numerous exotic weapons from Destiny 2. However, a few exotic armor pieces have also been spotted when the developers talked about the Exotics.
These are Titan gauntlets with violet glowing horns:
Only the gloves are exotic; the other armor pieces have already been discovered on other Titans:
So far, there is no information on shaders in Destiny 2, but a look at these two images suggests that we can color the armor pieces differently again.
This image also shows an Exotic. Most likely, the helmet is the exotic item, as it definitely has a striking design:
Lastly, this Warlock chest piece with an extravagant look was shown:
The front is adorned with golden embellishments, and in the center is a red, ruby-like stone. However, the real highlight is seen on the back – golden wings:
What exotic perks these armor pieces possess is still unclear. However, it can be assumed that this Warlock chest piece will enhance the Dawnblade subclass.
What do you think of these Exotics?
