Marvel Heroes Omega – Superhero MMO on consoles this month
On June 30, it is finally happening. Then the open beta for the PS4 version will end and the Xbox version of Marvel Heroes will also be released on this date. From then on, you can download the game for free from the respective console store and play. As a free-to-play game, you do not need to spend any money on Marvel Heroes and can unlock your heroes in the game as well.
For those who want to progress faster, heroes and other goodies can also be unlocked immediately for real money. Unfortunately, the console versions of Marvel Heroes lag behind the PC version a bit. So far, only 38 heroes are playable instead of 60. However, the rest is expected to be added soon.
However, the console version has a cool local co-op mode. You can lounge and play with friends on the same couch.
Fans can now bring D.Va from Overwatch home as a statue. However, this will cost a pretty penny…
The fact that Overwatch has become such a huge success is largely due to the vibrant and colorful personalities that burst with character and offer plenty of points of identification. But those who truly love a hero from Overwatch not only play as her every day – they also display her on their desk!
The statue is hand-modeled and also hand-painted, making each statue a unique piece. The pose is D.Va’s “typical” appearance, as she sits on the weapon of her mech in her battle suit, brushing her hair behind the headset.
The statue measures 19 inches, which is a bit over 48cm. Therefore, it requires ample space.
Anyone who has given their heart to D.Va and wants to expand their statue collection can grab one now for a casual $450 and secure a copy of the statue. Due to D.Va’s popularity, interested fans and collectors should not wait too long because, as experience shows, the statues tend to sell out relatively quickly – the one from Tracer is currently no longer available.
Would you buy such a statue and display it in your room? Or would you find it a) too nerdy and b) way too expensive? Or have you already ordered it? Let us know in the comments!
Has a story DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda been canceled now? A rumor is circulating and causing a stir.
Update: Although the message below from “Sinclair Networks” apparently was a fake, they seem to be right in their general statement. The colleagues at Kotaku have confirmed from three anonymous sources at BioWare that the DLCs for Mass Effect Andromeda have been canceled. Many storylines will probably never be resolved – or maybe picked up again in a very distant future in a Mass Effect Andromeda 2.
Original message: No matter how you turn it, Mass Effect: Andromeda was received rather mixed by the fans. Many couldn’t get into the new galaxy, and some annoying bugs at the release of the massive RPG marred the gaming experience. When Electronic Arts then announced that the “Mass Effect” franchise was put on hold for the time being, the disappointment was huge.
The Austrian company “Sinclair Networks” declared on Facebook that future story DLCs for Mass Effect Andromeda have been canceled. Originally, BioWare had commissioned them to refine the game post-release and to add DLCs, as was the case with the other “Mass Effect” games.
Canceled DLC for Mass Effect was a fake
The catch is: The company Sinclair Networks probably doesn’t even exist! Not only has no one heard of the company, but BioWare also denies ever having worked with Sinclair Networks – let alone having heard of them.
The producer of ME:A, Fernando Melo, stated on Twitter:
“Although we can’t talk about the future yet, I can definitely say that we create our DLCs/patches for the games ourselves and do not hire fake companies for that.”

Michael Gamble from BioWare also says: “I have never heard of Sinclair Networks. Never.”
Apparently, the statement was a fake that wanted to get some attention and generate sentiment against BioWare and Mass Effect. It seems to have worked, as heated discussions about the topic took place in forums and on Reddit.
This is probably best summed up by another quote from Melo: “The internet is what it is” – and that includes these shadow sides.
LawBreakers starts today on PC in open beta. This allows everyone to download and play the hero shooter with the crazy gravity for free. Later, the game is planned to be Buy2Play.
The hero shooter LawBreakers is a PvP game where you play as either the law enforcers or lawless villains in a post-apocalypse. In this world, the moon has exploded, and since then, gravity has gone crazy. This also applies to the maps in the game, where strange gravity phenomena occur. Therefore, it can happen that you suddenly lose the ground beneath your feet in LawBreakers. Additionally, you can use gravity offensively against enemies.

Anyone who wants to try out the fast-paced gameplay and weightlessness of LawBreakers can start playing the open beta on PC today, June 30, 2017.
LawBreakers – Open Beta Free2Play, Release Version Buy2Play
In the open beta of LawBreakers, all PC players can try the hero shooter for free. But only until July 5. Then the beta will end. The release version is scheduled for August 8 (for both PC and PS4), which is now planned as a Buy2Play title. The reason for this decision was that the developers at Boss Key do not want to unnecessarily split the player base.
For example, if a player has a specific map pack DLC and then cannot play with those who do not have it. The Buy2Play version is supposed to include all contents and be the same for all players. The release version is expected to cost 29.99 euros.
The beta is therefore also a kind of demo version. Additionally, it includes a new map called “Vertigo” and a related new game mode called “Uplink”. In this mode, you must securely bring the namesake Uplink to your base and defend it for as long as possible.
LawBreakers – No campaign planned for now
LawBreakers will be a pure PvP game without a solo campaign. For the future, however, the developers do not want to exclude this possibility, as the game contains a lot of lore and story content. For example, one of the playable characters is responsible for the state of the moon in the game.
In the MMO shooter Destiny, the Trials of Osiris start today, June 30th. Which map will the Trials take place on?
Today, on the last day of June 2017, the whistle blows for the Trials of Osiris, the weekly PvP event in Destiny.
However, the Trials of Osiris will not be around for much longer. They will run through the entire month of July and will take place for the last time in Destiny on August 11th.
In Destiny 2, they will return – although not directly at launch. However, it will be easier for solo players to find other Guardians to play Trials together. The Guided Games are not only used for Raids or Nightfall Strikes but also for the Trials.
The Trials of Osiris begin today at 7 PM. They will last until the next Weekly Reset on July 4th. This time, the map Rostlande will be played.
What are the Trials of Osiris?
In the Trials, you engage in PvP combats in the “Elimination” mode. You compete in teams of three and try to fill your scorecard with victories. If the opposing team is completely defeated, you win a round. Fallen team members can be revived. It’s not only about having strong gear but also about communication among the Guardians. A good knowledge of the map is advantageous.
With 5 and 7 victories, there are random rewards from Osiris’s loot pool. Additionally, you should keep an eye on Brother Vance’s bounties for extra rewards. If you’re in top form, you can reach Mercury with a “Flawless” ticket and loot the chest with the fine loot there.

A new patch is coming to ARK Survival Evolved on PC. The update is numbered v260 and is expected to be larger. There will be new content, more bug fixes, and optimizations.
Update June 30, 2017: The ARK patch 2.60 was scheduled for Monday, and it was deployed today, Friday. Here are the patch notes for 2.60. The “most striking new feature” is this saber-toothed tiger. Players are already complaining on Reddit that Quetzal now has clipping issues. There also seems to be a bug with the “boss tributes.” This is already being heavily discussed on Reddit. The new accelerated patch rhythm seems to bring some friction for ARK.
Original message:
In a tweet, lead designer Jeremy Stieglitz announced a new patch – v260 – for PC.
Ark Survival Evolved – New PC Patch v260 – ETA is Monday
The update contains more bug fixes and optimizations. Just last week patch v259 was released, which brought a lot of bug fixes to Ark. Studio Wildcard apparently is not stopping here and is fixing even more issues in the game.
The following has been announced in Stieglitz’s tweet for patch v259:
New Tek technologies
New saber-tooth
More bug fixes
More optimizations
Rebalances
The update v259 is scheduled for Monday, June 26. When this patch will come to PS4 and Xbox One is still uncertain.

So far, there are no official patch notes available for patch v260. The last major update also came with some delay.
With the many fixes, optimizations, and balance changes recently, one can strongly assume that Studio Wildcard is preparing for the full release of Ark Survival Evolved:
Patch notes for the update 1.7 of The Division have been released for play on the PTS.
Since today (30.6.), the public test servers on PC are live – consoles will follow later. Massive published a lengthy list of the PTS patch notes for update 1.7.
Keep in mind that these patch notes are not the final patch notes for update 1.7. They will be adjusted over the coming weeks.
What changes with update 1.7
Once update 1.7 is available in the live game, all these contents are free for all players to download.
Initially, Massive lists the 5 most important new features:
Global Events: Time-limited events that add modifiers to PvE activities, making them more varied. You earn “Global Event” tokens that can be used to purchase rewards.
Commendations and patches: You will receive over 500 goals to fulfill that allow you to unlock rewards. Some commendations will reward you with a patch displayed on the agent’s right arm. For the PTS, these goals have been adjusted so they can be reached faster. Many goals and patches are missing.
Post-character customization: A “bathroom” will be installed in the terminal allowing you to customize the appearance of your agents.
Encrypted crates: There are new crates at the premium vendor that can only be opened with a key. You can buy and craft these keys with real money by finding key fragments in the game. The encrypted crates contain cosmetic items.
Classified Gear: These are new versions of already existing gear sets. If you equip five or six of these, you unlock 5-set and 6-set bonuses. Classified armor pieces will initially only be available during global events. They will then be added to the general loot pool. The primary stats are higher than those of “normal” gear, ranging from 1274 to 1401.
Note: Not all new features will be playable on the PTS from the start. For example, Global Events will come later.
Four examples of 6-set bonuses
In the patch notes, the new bonuses from Watchman’s Call, Striker, Recovery, and Final Measure are mentioned. While the 5-set bonuses increase the 2-set and 3-set bonuses, the 6-set bonuses improve the talents:
Final Measure: When you disable a grenade through the talent, all allies within 30 meters (and the player themselves) receive a buff. This buff depends on the type of grenade. EMP and shock grenades increase skill power by 15% for 8 seconds, HE and incendiary grenades increase weapon damage by 15% for 8 seconds, and flash and gas grenades increase armor by 15% for 8 seconds.
Watchman’s Call: NPC enemies can now receive up to 6 marks. After three marks, there is a 25% chance that each subsequent headshot on the target will also mark another enemy within 10 meters of that target. If a target has 6 marks, you deal 100% more headshot damage.
Striker: Each hit adds a self-healing bonus of 0.1% of max health per second. For every 1000 stamina, this bonus increases by 0.01%. Up to 100 hits are stackable. The bonus decreases by 0.1% per second. The bonus can be removed with EMP.
Recovery: The support station has a 25% chance not to have a cooldown when destroyed by an enemy. Every 1000 electronics increases this chance by 2%. Additionally, it has +50% support station revival speed, +100% support station healing speed, and +100% support station health points.
Additionally: The NinjaBike Backpack is making a comeback. Its talent is that it functions as an additional armor piece for all equipped gear sets, allowing the bonuses to be unlocked. The bonuses from the Classified Gear cannot be unlocked by NinjaBike. More information about the new NinjaBike Backpack can be found here.
More information from the patch notes
The SVD is being adjusted
The explosion damage of the Seeker Mine is reduced from 900 to 600. The damage of the air detonation mod is reduced from 300 to 120.
Numerous bugs will be fixed regarding talents, skills, and loadouts.
Bugs will also be fixed in activities such as missions, underground, Dark Zone, Survival, and Last Stand. In the Survival mode, you will now receive better rewards: In rank 1, there is a survival container instead of a gear container, and in rank 2, there is a survival container and a weapon container.
It will also fix issues that some agents may not have noticed, such as:
The scene where NPCs beat a dead body had no sound effects. This will be corrected.
The blueprint vendor in the terminal can now speak again.
When agents die, they no longer blink or move their eyes. “No to zombies”, says Massive.
The full patch notes with all bug fixes can be found in the Ubi forum.
In Destiny 2 you no longer have to search for the God Roll. Because there are no random weapon perks anymore.
In Destiny 1, a strong weapon alone is not enough. Because this weapon needs strong perks to really be useful – so random “extras” that grant the weapon certain advantages.
If a weapon drops with the best possible perks, it is referred to as the God Roll. Those who receive such a weapon are among the luckiest Guardians.
This randomness with the weapons can provide excitement and long-term motivation (to find the God Roll) on one hand, but also frustration when enemies refuse to drop the desired perk combination.
In Destiny 2, this thrill is gone. Because as it has now been revealed: There is no more randomness with the weapons. Will the loot now be boring?
No random weapon rolls in Destiny 2
Mashable quotes statements from Game Director Luke Smith: “There are no more random rolls on weapons.”
As an example, he mentions a Crucible hand cannon from Destiny 2 called Better Devils. This always has the same attributes.
In Destiny 2, the lineup for all stats and perks for each individual weapon and piece of armor is “hand-crafted.” This would give the sandbox team more flexibility when adjusting weapons.
Because in Destiny 1 there was a dilemma here. If you wanted to adjust a legendary weapon because it was overpowered or too weak, you had to make stat changes across the entire weapon category.
In Destiny 2, however, each weapon represents its own “category.” “This will give us more flexibility to tune individual items,” says Smith. In Destiny 1, this was not possible because that game was structured differently.
How will the loot stay interesting?
That Bungie can now adjust the weapons individually is in itself a great thing. However, the question also arises of what will happen to the thrill of searching for the God Roll. Numerous players enjoy spending a lot of time in the game to get the best items. This motivates them and is fun in the long run.
But how can a second, a third, or a tenth “Better Devils” still be interesting when you already know in advance what stats and perks it will have? Smith says this is a question they are asking themselves and that they will answer as soon as possible.
They have ideas, Smith says. Currently, he cannot share those ideas with us. He also does not know if these ideas can be implemented by September 6th. Then the release of Destiny 2 will be. He adds that they are very exciting ideas.
What do you think? Are you glad that this randomness is going away? Or do you already miss the God Roll drops?

Many players are already collecting loot boxes in Overwatch to cash in big soon. However, these fans might be bitterly disappointed…
The loot system in Overwatch is repeatedly a topic for heated discussions and arguments on Reddit and in the official forums. Too often, there are duplicates that cause more frustration than joy when opening some loot boxes. Blizzard has also recognized this and announced some time ago that it would thoroughly revise the loot box system.
The basic plan is that players will receive significantly fewer duplicates from the loot boxes in the future. At the same time, the earning of credits will be slightly increased, so that no one should experience any losses.
Loot is generated upon receiving the box
In supposedly wise foresight, many players have since begun to hoard loot boxes. The reasoning is clear: Those who accumulate several dozen loot boxes now will have many crates after the release of the next patch, in which fewer duplicates can be found.
But that is a mistake.
Community Manager Lylirra has clearly stated in the official forum that loot boxes are subject to a very specific functionality: the loot is generated at the moment of receiving the box.
In plain language, this means that “old loot boxes” will still drop the “old” loot after the release of Patch 1.13 – that is, lots of duplicates.
Anyone hoarding loot boxes now can stop and instead open them immediately – there is no “future gain” to be lost because it does not exist.
Have you already started collecting? Or do you open every loot box right after receiving it anyway?
A Shiny Pikachu is expected to appear in Pokémon GO next week. This rumor is circulating on social networks, but what is behind it?
The news that a Shiny Pikachu is supposed to appear in Pokémon GO next week is currently spreading through social networks. Many trainers simply accept this news as “real” and do not question where this information comes from.
The hint about the “shiny” Pikachu comes from the site SlashGear, which received a “tip”. However, it is not explained who this tip comes from and why it is supposed to be trustworthy.
Special Pikachu is coming, but is it Shiny?
With titles like “Shiny Pikachu is likely coming next week” the rumor about this special Pokémon is spread on social networks. The site Mobiflip is referring to an article on the website “SlashGear“, which promises “SHINY Pikachu coming to Pokémon GO.”
In the article from SlashGear, they justify this exclusive news about Shiny Pikachu by saying: “This morning we received a tip regarding the next rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO: Shiny Pikachu.” However, it is not explained where this tip comes from and whether the source has leaked events in the past and is trustworthy.
Instead, the rest of the article recounts the content of a Reddit post discussing a “rare Pikachu.” There was no mention of “Shiny” on Reddit.
Rare Pikachu will be released
The origin of the “Shiny Pikachu” news can be found on Reddit. There, user legoturtle92 shares an email sent to participants of a graphics/animation fair. Staff from Niantic will be present at the ACM Siggraph convention. The email explains that Niantic will be releasing a rare Pikachu.
Source legoturtle92
The email clearly mentions a “rare Pikachu.” The difference from the current rumor is a mysterious “tip” that SlashGear received. Apart from this tip, there are no other sources confirming a Shiny Pikachu.
At this point, we would like to point out that a release of a Shiny Pikachu next week is “possible.”
However, it could just as well be a special Pikachu for the anniversary of Pokémon GO, which, while changed in appearance, is not a Shiny variant. We will find out by next week at the latest which Pikachu this is.
The week is over and the weekend beckons. And with it comes games and gaming fun galore! We want to know how you will spend your free time this coming weekend.
Once again, we have a week behind us and all those who don’t have to deal with a pesky weekend shift can look forward to two free days full of relaxation. And as everyone knows, the best way to relax is by enjoying some cozy online gaming. There are a few that are particularly attractive this weekend.
Games this Weekend – MXM and Kritika Online – Action Fireworks from Asia
If you like colorful graphics and non-stop action, this weekend you have two cool new games that should suit your taste. Fans of MOBAs, top-down shooters, and arena brawlers can download the free-to-play game Master X Master for free and have a great time. You can also read about how fun the game is in our review of MXM.
If you prefer solid brawling, cel-shading look, and sexy anime girls, then Kritika Online might be something for you. The action MMO from Korea has now officially launched in open beta and is also free to play. In Kritika Online, you jump right into fast-paced missions full of combat directly from the lobby. Ideal for those who find traditional MMORPGs too slow now.
Games this Weekend – Necromancer in Diablo 3
Things are less colorful in Diablo 3. Finally, after what feels like an eternal wait during various betas, the Necromancer has officially launched. Every Diablo player can now create a necromancer and use death magic, skeleton servants, and disgusting flesh golems to make the devil feel the fire under his red butt!

We from the Mein-MMO editorial team are back at it this weekend. The following games are on our list:
Leya is bravely digging into Final Fantasy 14 to contribute to our big review of Stormblood together with Schuhmann.
Schuhmann is groaning and moaning under the many tasks in Stormblood. But he’s slowly making his way through and has almost finished half of the add-on.
Ttime is actually playing nothing this weekend. Instead of dedicating himself to decent gaming, the rascal is offline wandering around. Outrageous!
Patrick on the other hand sticks to his roots and will again go hunting for little virtual monsters in Pokémon GO. Raids and Arena battles are also on the agenda. To balance out all the colorful creatures, he conjures up the undead in Diablo 3 as a dark necromancer. You can find his favorite build for the necromancer here, by the way.
Cortyn first trolled me with typical “Cortyn games” like Red Orchestra 2 or Call of Duty, until I finally managed to get her weekend game out of her. It’s Dead by Daylight, what a surprise…
I, Jürgen, will continue to play my beloved Master X Master this weekend, of which I can’t get enough right now. I also downloaded Kritika Online in the beta and will check it out when I get the chance.
But enough about us! We want to know what you are playing this weekend! Let us know in the comments!

The discussion about taking out a loan for the development of the space MMO Star Citizen does not diminish the purchasing power of the fans.
Although many have been upset that Cloud Imperium Games has taken out a loan for the studio in England, this does not reduce the success of the crowdfunding campaign for the space MMO Star Citizen. In the meantime, the brand has exceeded 153 million dollars.
To show fans that the development is steadily progressing, a new video has been released.
Effects, quest NPCs and a space bike
In this video, the developers discuss what they are currently working on. These are mainly special effects such as particle effects for smoke, explosions, and the entry and exit of a spaceship from an atmosphere. These effects are mainly covered in the video. But there is more to tell. The developers also talk about shops and merchant NPCs as well as improvements to the quest NPCs. The recently introduced NOX Space Bike is also presented again, and animations are also a topic.

The scenes shown in the video look quite impressive. The dialogue with one of the quest NPCs feels very natural and interesting. The entry of a ship into the atmosphere of a moon also looks very good. The team is currently preparing Alpha 3.0, which will bring with it three procedurally generated moons on which you can land and explore. Star Citizen is making progress. However, a release date is still not in sight.

To understand all the heroes in Overwatch , one must play them all. Some take this rule very seriously.
Players of Overwatch occasionally set themselves quite absurd goals. While most players simply want a high skill rating or fun in their favorite mode, some gamers take it a bit more seriously.
“Order is half of life,” probably thought the player Treeboydave, who has achieved the amazing goal of playing every hero in Overwatch for exactly a proud 100 hours in Quick Play.
At the beginning, Treeboydave played Overwatch just like everyone else – and was a typical Mercy main.
In his original post, he states:
“At the beginning, I really had a lot of fun with Mercy. But then I played Mei and found her very fun as well.
At that time, I had nearly 100 hours with Mercy, and Mei was approaching the 100 hours too. Therefore, I decided to aim for 100 hours with all heroes.”
Meanwhile, this huge task is accomplished, and Treeboydave has exactly 100 hours of playtime with each character in Quick Play. The result is this satisfying overview display:

This makes him probably the only player in the world who can say that he definitely has no “main” in Overwatch.
With a playtime of 2400 hours, that means he must have played around 6 hours every day. Meanwhile, he is also working a full-time job – there probably isn’t much time left for other projects.
By the way, Treeboydave has also collected all achievements for the different heroes, so he has a pretty nice collection here as well. He only needed a little help with “The Floor is Lava” from Lúcio and “Rapid Discord” from Zenyatta, and he kind of cheated to get those achievements.
For the future, there is already a new goal. He wants a playtime of 150 hours on all heroes in the “All Modes” overview. Why? “Because it looks messy.”
Have you set any unusual goals in Overwatch? Do you think such an approach is crazy? Or is it a cool way to really get a feel for all the heroes?
Thanks to Steam sales and discounts in the console stores, there are great bargains for gamer bargain hunters in the summer. But what do you think about the specials? Do you take advantage of the current deals or do such sales leave you cold?
Every summer, countless gamers eagerly await the start of the Steam Summer Sale, which promises new bargains and super specials every year. And now there are also cool deals on consoles. Those who act wisely can snag their favorite targets and cool bundles at record prices and make a good deal.
Steam Summer Sale – The Major Assault on the Wallet!
The reigning champion of the specials has always been the infamous Steam Summer Sale. Every year, the providers come at the prices of their games with a heavy axe and chop them ruthlessly down. Therefore, current titles are often available at outrageous bargain prices every year.
This mainly applies to single-player games and offline titles, but MMO fans can also save big during the Steam Summer Sale. A whole range of online games, like ESO, Arc, or Black Desert Online, have decent discounts this year. What exactly those discounts are, you can read in our MMO Steam Sale Special. The Steam Summer Sale runs until July 5.
Big Discounts for PlayStation and Xbox
Until July 6, 2017, PlayStation players also have the opportunity to save big. At least if they are PlayStation Plus members. Because then there are double discounts on selected games. For example, Battlefield Hardline Ultimate Edition is 80% cheaper for only 13.99 euros!
A similar promotion is also being held by Microsoft on Xbox One and Windows 10. There are discounts of up to 65 percent. Xbox Live Gold customers are supposed to receive even more price reductions. The promotion runs until July 10.
But back to our question: Do you regularly take advantage of such sales? And have you made good purchases this year? Or did you want to, but didn’t find anything worthwhile? Let us know your opinion in the comments!

One should understand that such a cool hero like the Necromancer from Diablo 3 doesn’t need to dance. However, some players see it differently.
About two days ago, the DLC was released, which allowed the Necromancer to become a playable class in the action RPG Diablo 3. While he summons undead and golems and truly sweeps through his enemies, one thing he does not do: dance.
Necromancers do not dance!
Anyone entering the command /dance in Diablo 3 typically sees the heroes doing a little dance of joy. Not the Necromancer, though. Instead, he crosses his arms and says in a dark voice, “I do not dance! What would the skeletons think?”. After all, he is cool and does not make a fool of himself, which could cost him the respect of his enemies, who might not see him as so dark and threatening thereafter.
Blizzard issues a statement
As “funny” and fitting as this character’s reaction is, there have already been complaints, prompting Blizzard to feel the need to issue a statement. The Necromancer is a very sober character, and dancing would not fit his behavior or history. With the DLC and the new patch, they want to focus on the dark side of the world of Sanctuary, and a dancing Necromancer just does not fit into that. After all, the Necromancers would have been stripped of their emotions; why should he dance for joy?
But why does he then dance in Heroes of the Storm? Some fans feel this is inconsistent. However, the Necromancer probably does not care. After all, he has no emotions.

there are further innovations that many agents have long wished for. It has recently been revealed: Massive is installing a Bathroom in the Terminal, where you can change the appearance of your agents.
A Bathroom for Character Customization
When you enter the terminal, you can immediately turn right after update 1.7, where you will reach a “Bathroom”, as Massive calls it. There you will find three mirrors and three sinks. Here’s a clip about it:

Here you can retroactively adjust the appearance of your agents. Give them new hairstyles, new tattoos, scars, or glasses.
These are the same customization options you have at the beginning of the game when you customize your character. No new options have been added.
It costs no in-game currency to change appearance.
Face Masks and Encrypted Caches
Massive introduced two more innovations that come with update 1.7.
First, you will soon be able to equip your agent with “Face Masks”, which are masks that cover the entire face. These are cosmetic items for which there are no screenshots yet. They are said to be earnable through the Global Events. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
Secondly, you will soon be able to earn “Encrypted Caches” – meaning encrypted boxes. These will be available through the premium vendor in the terminal.
You can only open an encrypted box if you have a Cipher Key. You receive a Cipher Key by:
collecting 10 key fragments and crafting a key with them. The fragments can be found in the game
or purchasing a Cipher Key directly from the premium vendor for real money.
The encrypted boxes grant you a variety of cosmetic items. Each box contains three random items, such as backpack skins, weapon skins, or clothing. This way, you can get premium items without spending money.
The animation when opening such a box looks really cool:
