The sandbox MMORPG Albion Online will receive its first major content update with the “Joseph Update” at the end of September since its release. The update includes, among other things, a new 5vs5 PvP arena, new expeditions, and weapon abilities.
Albion Online is a complex sandbox MMORPG from Berlin-based studio Sandbox Interactive. With the new “Joseph” update, the first major update since the launch of the sandbox game is coming. It will be released on September 27 and will bring a new arena, expeditions, and improvements to weapons and skills.
Albion Online – Joseph Update with Arena and Expeditions
The highlight of the update is the new 5vs5 arena. There, you conquer control points with your team to win. As a reward, you receive arena seals, which can be exchanged for rewards or traded with others. Each hero can collect three arena seals per day for the first three matches won – a maximum of nine arena seals per day are possible.
Additionally, the Joseph update includes two new expeditions:
The Eternal Battle: A horde of undead has settled in an old town. Drive them away to make room for the living!
The Three Sisters: Restore the reputation of a dishonored guard and explore a monastery where three ageless followers of Morgana reside.
Albion Online – New Treasure Sites and Abilities
Besides the expeditions and the arena, there are a few more new features with the Joseph update:
The old relics around Albion are replaced by treasure sites. There you will find plenty of silver and can engage in a fight with a spirit for more loot.
With the new “Smart Cast” feature, you can now cast spells freely according to your playstyle.
The UI has been improved. Additionally, there are UX improvements in the social menu.
Bows, daggers, cursed staves, swords, and spears from level 5 acquire new abilities.
The PS4 is receiving an update today, on 14th September. It is the system software update with version 4.74. Patch notes.

A brief overview of the latest reviews should help place the game in context.
Infestation is a free alternative to H1Z1: King of the Kill and a rework of “The War Z”. The game is an open-world shooter with additions like battle royale modes and PvP servers.
What the players say: Infestation is generally quite well received in the community, provided some bugs can be overlooked. However, many players are bothered by the unusually high number of hack users. The performance is often criticized as well.
Dark and Light is a survival game with magic and fantasy. Dark and Light focuses on PvE, where dragons can be tamed and ridden. There is also the need to fend off invasions. The fantastic world can be largely explored peacefully.
What the players say: Similar to Ark: Survival Evolved, the game scores with an open world where you can tame creatures and build houses. It’s often criticized that you are not safe after logging out (similar to Rust), and everything that has been built can be quickly destroyed. Additionally, enemies are said to be relatively tough and lags numerous.
Tree of Savior is an isometric RPG from the makers of Ragnarok Online. With 4 basic classes (“jobs”) and 56 advanced classes, the game offers many options for players to explore the world and defeat monsters in their own way.
What the players say: Tree of Savior exhibits nearly all the pros and cons that its spiritual predecessor Ragnarok Online had: loving design, an interesting story, and innovative mechanics, but significant issues with hackers, server instability, phasing (only a limited number of players per map), and time restrictions (cooldowns for dungeons, long wait times for crafting, etc.).
Funcom’s Early Access survival game in the barbarian setting of Conan. In Conan Exiles, players fight as exiles to survive in the burning desert, icy mountains, and other biomes, while defending against the aggressive wildlife and defeating or enslaving other exiles.
What the players say: Despite the strongly negative rating over the last 30 days, many reviews from the past 4 days are positive. Especially players with more than 50 hours generally rate the game better. Positive aspects include the design of the game world and the constant development. The biggest negative point is the instability, which became particularly noticeable after the last update. At many points on the map, players get kicked from the game.
H1Z1: King of the Kill is one of the pioneers of the battle royale genre. Fleeing from an ever-approaching plague, 150 players fight each other, parachuting into a small area until the last one survives.
What the players say: What exactly the fascination is, seems to be something that nobody can articulate very well. However, many write that each round feels different and triggers the same thrill. Likewise, negative reviews act similarly: those who dislike it simply find it bad.
A different approach is taken by the action-adventure MMO Citadel: Forged with Fire. In a mix of Life is Feudal and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, players build the world – and then destroy it, using magic and power.
What the players say: For most players, the mix of magic and open world is a reason to recommend the game. Those who dislike it often complain about the dwindling player base – which is not the case according to Steamcharts. Prognosis: Mixed.
In the wake of Jurassic Park World, the early access version of ARK: Survival Evolved was released in 2015. In the fight for survival, players build huts, fight through the jungle, find allies, and tame dozens of different dinosaurs.
What the players say: Despite the “mostly positive” rating, the negative arguments prevail. What bothers players the most is that a significant time investment is required for everything. Even taming the dinosaurs, which are intended to speed things up, takes a long time (under standard settings). The argument often cited for the game is: “Dinosaurs.” The teamwork, the diversity in the game, and the fact that there is always something happening are praised.
However, ARK: Survival Evolved is currently the best-selling MMO on Steam.
Warface: Blackout is a free-to-play shooter from Crytek. An action game featuring classic modes like “Team Deathmatch”, “Free for All”, and “Plant the Bomb”, etc. The specialty is the co-op and multiplayer missions, which are often lacking in related games.
What the players say: In general, Crytek shooters are always recommended. Most players see it that way, enjoying a largely fluid gameplay and exciting matches. However, criticism has arisen since the publisher change regarding server instability and accusations of pay-to-win.
Black Desert is an open-world game as it should be. Players have enormous freedoms. The focus is on group play, where players utilize their individual skills to overcome monsters, bosses, and sieges.
What the players say: Beautiful graphics, good gameplay, and combat system impress most players, but tedious grinding and increasing content that often ignores old issues frequently cause frustration.

On September 13, 2017, the Leviathan Raid opened its gates, and countless Guardians rushed into this 6-player PvE activity to put a stop to the new threat.
To play the raid, you must be at leastPower Level 260. The recommended power is 270, but you should ideally increase your power even higher before tackling the raid. This one is challenging.
In the following, we explain the mechanics of the raid. A note here: Spoiler Alert! If you want to explore the raid yourself, you should not continue reading.
Standard Bearers in the Castell – Solution and Strategy for Phase 1
You start the Leviathan Raid directly via the Navigator. Above Nessus, in “Nessus Orbit”, the symbol for the raid will be displayed. You have to form a fireteam of 6 players yourself, there is no matchmaking. Only later will there be Raid guide games.
You now enter a kind of palace, where everything is lavishly and golden decorated. Your task is to master several trials from Calus, the former Kabal Emperor.
It should be noted: During some activities, there are only limited revival tokens. These are displayed at the bottom right of the screen. This means you cannot revive indefinitely.
Let’s get started in the Castell:
In this phase, you must defeat Standard Bearers, hefty Kabal units. Once one is defeated, it drops a relic.
This relic is then picked up by a team member and placed in the center of the room:
Once you have hammered a relic into the device, Standard Liberators will gradually appear. They will try to take the relics away. In other words, you must defeat them as quickly as possible. If the Liberators succeed in stealing a relic, you must defeat another Standard Bearer. Ideally, always have 2 or 3 people in the middle to defend the relics.
During the fight, Council Members will appear. These floating Psions are immune to weapon damage from outside their bubble. Therefore, you must go inside their bubble and defeat them; a melee attack is sufficient. Always pay attention to the indicator at the bottom left of the screen to know when Council Members appear. Because they protect the Standard Liberators. Defeat the Council Members as quickly as possible to be able to defeat the Standard Liberators as quickly as possible.

Royal Baths – Solution and Strategy for Phase 2
In Phase 2, you should stop a bathing ritual in the royal baths. For this, you first need to split your fireteam.
Starting position: There are four plates that must be occupied. Each Guardian stands on one plate. The other two Guardians are in the middle.
As soon as you stand on the plates, you receive Psionic Protection. This protects you from the environmental damage of the dark goo. This protection lasts for 50 seconds.
The two people in the middle can refill the Psionic Protection in the middle. They help the Guardians on the plates so that there are always Guardians with Psionic Protection on these plates. Rotate through. The Guardian who is replaced by a Guardian from the middle now runs to the middle and refills his protection.
When every plate is occupied, the chains apparatus will move. However, you are not alone in this process. In addition to regular adds, Telaks will appear at the chains, who deal immense damage in close combat. Defeat these as quickly as possible so you can continue to occupy your plate. It’s best to whip out the power weapon.
Tip: As soon as your Psionic Protection is nearing its end, let your team know so that a Guardian from the middle can come to you. Communication is key here. Three Guardians should take care of the left two plates and three Guardians of the right two plates.
Do this until a music plays and the chains have been fully moved. Now all rush into the middle room. When you stand on the plate in the middle, you can deal damage to the incense vessels. Your goal is to destroy all of them:

But beware: In the middle, many nasty enemies will come that will make your life difficult. Don’t hesitate to eliminate them quickly with your super. Because your main goal is the purple vessels.
As soon as the psionic protection has expired, you must defeat Council Members as quickly as possible that appear in the middle.

Pleasure Garden – Survive the Hunt of the Royal Beasts – Solution and Strategy for Phase 3
Now you return to the Castell, where you must proceed as in Phase 1 to enter the next area.
Phase 3 takes place in the Pleasure Garden. Your task is to eliminate 6 royal beasts. These roam around and attack when they see you. So: Don’t let yourself be detected at first, stay hidden.
Let’s get started by picking up the Prism Weapons. Then enter the security room below.
Four Guardians now pick up Royal Pollen. These must be taken to glowing, purple flowers.
Once all four pollen holders are gathered around a flower, a Prism Weapons holder shoots a beam at the flower. For this, a Prism Weapons holder stands in a light. These lights are located on the rocks.

The Prism Weapons holders also act as guides. They lead the pollen holders from flower to flower through the garden, ensuring that their teammates are not seen by royal beasts. In addition, the Guardians with the Prism Weapon must eliminate Kabal Snipers that spawn.
If the beasts detect you, they emit a Psionic Howl. Now you have 30 seconds to return to the safety room, otherwise, all team members still outside will die. You can only return to the safety room three times. After that, it is no longer accessible. If you take too long, a Psionic Howl will sound as well.
The beasts have extremely high health points. By bringing the pollen to the flowers, you receive a buff that significantly increases your damage output. This buff is stackable – four times is ideal. This allows you to defeat the beasts quickly.
Tip: For every beast you kill, the psionic howl becomes deadlier. You have less time to return to the safety room. Therefore, you should first weaken the beasts considerably and then defeat them all at once. Ideally, do not kill any beast until all have low health.
It is also possible to kill all beasts in one round if you have a buff of x60.

You return to the Castell and must proceed as in Phase 1. Then the gate for Phase 4 opens.
In the Circus, you should initially stand on pillars so they sink into the ground. For this, you just stand on them.
Now you must defeat enemies, including heavy Centurions, until two psionic charges appear. Two Guardians pick these up and are teleported to the outer area of the arena – into a tunnel.
The Guardians with the charges must announce which circle is marked in red – there are the rows Top, Middle, and Bottom. Two Guardians not in the tunnel stand on the corresponding pillar opposite the barrier and shoot at the two arrows in the rows that are not marked in red. This must happen quickly. This will open the barrier for the Guardian with the charge. He must jump through the circle that was marked in red.
Example: If a circle in the middle is marked red (as in the picture), the Guardians must shoot the arrows in the Top and Bottom rows. Communication is important.
Repeat this for all barriers until the charge carriers are back outside. But be careful – the charge carriers must overcome an obstacle course in the tunnel. Once they are outside, they bring their charges to the center of the room. Each charge ignites a torch there.
Important: The Guardians that do not carry a charge must deal with the Council Members that spawn. Otherwise, the whole team will die. Take them out with a melee attack.
Once six torches are burning, everyone rushes into the middle room. There you pick up spheres that teleport you into the tunnel. You must then run through the tunnel together and pick up spheres that extend your timer. Each Guardian has an individual timer. Coordinate so that every Guardian remains above 0. Enough Guardians must remain at the end to fully “light up” the torches in the middle room.

Now it’s time for the final boss. You start the fight by shooting at the chalice that Calus holds. Numerous enemies will appear that must be defeated. Also, Council Members that you can take down (but not have to right away).
As soon as Calus claps his hands, all Guardians are teleported to another dimension, where a giant head of Calus faces you. Three must stay in this new place, three can teleport back by passing through a glowing sphere.
The three players who remain in the other dimension must announce which symbol is on Calus’ head. There is a chalice, a sword, a sun, and a dog. Each of the three Guardians sees a different symbol. There is only one symbol that no one sees. This one missing symbol is crucial.
These four symbols are also above the heads of four Council Members, whom the other Guardians can take care of in the throne room. The Council Member that corresponds to the symbols above Calus’ head must not be defeated. In other words, ignore all other Council Members with symbols that were announced.
Example: Player 1 sees the chalice symbol, Player 2 sees the dog, and Player 3 sees the sword, so the Council Member with the sun must be eliminated. Communication is essential here!
As soon as a Council Member is defeated, two more Council Members will appear that must be quickly defeated. Weapon damage is sufficient.
The Guardians in the other dimension with Calus’s head are now being drawn back to the head. Repeat the process several times, and the players in the other dimension come closer to Calus’s head. They must watch out for Psions and obstacles in the way.
Once they are directly in front of the head, it spits out skulls. You should shoot as many as possible, as they contribute to a “Force of Will” buff that increases your damage. You will need this buff for the final fight.
Once Calus stops spitting out skulls, the Guardians can pick up spheres and return to the throne room.
To obtain the “Force of Will” buff, every team member must stand on a platform and shoot at Calus. After a few seconds, you will no longer be able to deal damage to him. Therefore: All should stand on a single platform, shoot at him until he raises his arm, then move together to the next platform and shoot at him again.
In each damage phase, you should remove about a third of Calus’s health points. A good rotation for the pillars is to start with the top right, then bottom right, then bottom left, and finally top left.

And who or what is Benedict 99-40? – What raid gear is available as a reward in the Leviathan Raid?
In many chests, you will receive tokens called “Emperor Calus” tokens. You should bring these to Benedict 99-40 in the Tower. This is a new NPC. You will find him near Hawthorne. Go down the stairs, there stands the cleaning robot.

The big arena overhaul in Pokémon GO raises many questions: How do you earn coins? How many coins per day? We answer that here.
With the Arena Update in summer 2017, the developers brought fresh wind into Pokémon GO and changed the gym gameplay in many ways. The big gym rework still leaves some questions for some players or newcomers. For example: How do you earn coins in the new arena? Why did I only get 50 coins when several Pokémon returned home? Is there a daily limit?

Free coins – Defender bonus in the new arena
After the arena overhaul some players asked on social media how they can now earn coins.
Niantic addresses the question and explains:
A Pokémon earns coins depending on how long it has been in an arena. Once its motivation meter has been fought down by a trainer and its CP falls to 0, it returns to its trainer and brings the coins with it.
That initially clarifies the question of how you can earn coins. The support website of Niantic explains it in more detail:
You earn free PokéCoins when your Pokémon are in the arenas. The longer a Pokémon is “stationed” in an arena, the more coins you earn. So make sure to provide your monsters in the arenas with berries if they are to stay longer in the battle halls. If a fighter’s motivation falls to zero, that Pokémon must be defeated in another battle. After that, it returns to your collection and brings PokéCoins with you. When your Pokémon returns to you, you receive a notification about how many coins you have earned.
Important: You only receive the coins credited once your defender returns to you – not before!
The number of coins you can earn in a day is limited by Niantic. The daily cap is 50 PokéCoins.
It is important to note that this limit counts per account, not per Pokémon. If several of your Pokémon return from an arena in one day, you will receive many coins at once. Nonetheless, the limit remains at a total of 50 coins per day.
By using berries, you should therefore regulate how many Pokémon return to you in one day to avoid exceeding the daily coin limit and losing coins. If several Pokémon have no motivation left, it may be better to strengthen a few of them so that they can return to you on another day and not bring back more than 50 coins.
In Fortnite you can test the new battle royale mode before the release. We traveled with 99 enemies and tested the new PvP mode. Can it rival PUBG?
Fortnite is a successful colorful coop shooter from Epic Games. You are joined by up to three teammates and collect resources to build strong fortifications against hordes of zombies. So it’s a purely PvE experience.
But is it worth it? We took a closer look at the beta version of the new game mode – the official release is not until September 26.
Fortnite – Battle Royale – With the flying party bus into the slaughter
The game principle of battle royale in Fortnite is similar to that of the big role model PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: 100 players jump from above a lonely island and must kill each other. Whoever is the last one standing wins.
Teams are currently not possible, but those who team up with other players will be banned.
In the game, you seek out various weapons that lie scattered all over the island. Resupply is necessary because you play as a completely unarmed hero. Your progress and building plans from the PvE mode are irrelevant in the PvP.
But Fortnite wouldn’t be Fortnite if it didn’t incorporate some of its quirks into the PvP mode. It starts already with the fact that you don’t jump out of a plane, but rather float over the island in a flying “battle bus” before you jump. By the way, the bus is filled with muted party music. Fortnite never really took the apocalypse seriously anyway.
Fortnite: Battle Royale – faster than PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
After jumping out of the flying bus, you glide down onto the island of death! However, unlike in PUBG, the combat island is smaller and more manageable. Furthermore, everything is faster, both the gliders that allow you to land safely and the movement speed of your characters: Everything is slightly faster than the competition.
Due to the high speed and the comparatively small area, you will almost always encounter enemies shortly after landing. Unlike in PUBG, where cautious players can easily hide, a wild battle for the first weapons breaks out immediately. Because apart from your trusty pickaxe, you have nothing after the jump!
Battle Royale – More PUBG, less Fortnite
As soon as the first players are armed, the mass dying begins, and within minutes, the player count is usually halved. Since you are constantly threatened and another player could take you down at any moment, the typical gameplay aspects of Fortnite often take a backseat: resource gathering and building fortifications.
Whenever I tried to gather materials longer, I was taken out from behind. Furthermore, you cannot just build anything you want. Only the usual walls, floors, and ceilings are available to you. For instance, if you want to set traps, you first need to find the rare blueprints for them.
By the way, I only succeeded once, and before I could finish a trap, I was shot by another player.
Completely different gameplay than in regular Fortnite
Therefore, most players currently play the battle royale mode like in PUBG. They build nothing, but camp instead. Building fortifications at the beginning of a round is not worth it because eventually the storm (the Fortnite version of PUBG’s force field) will shrink the playground, and you will have to abandon your big castle.
Only at the end of a session can fortifications be worthwhile, because unlike in PUBG, almost all objects in Fortnite are destructible, and your cover can be shot to pieces. However, that costs ammunition, and those who build cleverly can possibly rob the enemy of valuable bullets that they will miss later.
Many players also built walls during the fight, which were quickly torn down but confused the enemy and wasted ammunition.
Fortnite: Battle Royale – Conclusion – Promising start, great potential
Even in the testing phase, where numerous lags plague the game, the battle royale mode plays fun and well. However, I find the pace a bit too fast; I prefer to equip myself leisurely and then stroll around.
This could be improved in Fortnite by gathering resources. However, due to the high pace and smaller game field, resource gathering right now is more of an invitation to sneaky attacks.
But the new game mode is still in its infancy and hasn’t even officially been released yet. If the developers are as diligent here as in regular Fortnite, the PvP mode could still receive one or two innovations.
For example, classes, special building options, and larger maps. Then Fortnite: Battle Royale could become a cool, colorful, and peppy alternative to PUBG.
Does Mei need more power in Overwatch? Players currently think: Mei needs a buff. But that’s delicate.
Blizzard is continuously working on balancing Overwatch to make as many heroes somewhat balanced and playable. The latest patches have adjusted D.Va, Mercy, Junkrat, and Orisa, among others. Since the animated short film about Mei, there have been calls for Mei to receive more love.
Coldly Discarded
The cute Chinese polar researcher Mei-Ling Zhou is among the least played heroes in Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch. There are several reasons for this; some of the most important include:
Mei’s frost beam takes too long to stop mobile heroes.
Mei’s ice wall can be simply ignored by most heroes in the current (Dive) meta.
Her greatest strength lies in 1vs1 fights, which hardly ever occur in competitive play.
She has no mobility, making her easy prey for offensive heroes.
Her ultimate is easily avoidable despite the buff, and mobile heroes can escape her without issues.
Especially the fact that other heroes bring similar control abilities but don’t take as long to be effective makes Mei appear weak. Good examples of equivalents are McCree’s flashbang or Roadhog’s hook.
Problem: If Mei gets stronger, the meta becomes static
A concise explanation was provided by the master streamer “ster”. According to him, it’s hard to make Mei stronger without making her too strong.
One could leave Mei as she is and only change the meta to make her playable again. However, it is not expected that she will ever move away from mobile heroes at this point. A meta in which Mei shines is, according to ster, “pretty unlikely”.

Some time ago, changes were made to Mei that made her alternate fire mode, the icicles, significantly too strong. The projectile damage was still enough at immense distances to instantly kill most heroes with headshots. This was frustrating and a reason for Blizzard to backtrack.
Since Doomfist joined the game, a change in the meta has been underway. However, with this change, thoughts about the seemingly forgotten Mei are surfacing again, leading to questions about a buff.
