In Destiny 2, the Trials of the Nine are live! What new features are there in this PvP activity? What weapons and armor pieces can you win? How do I achieve “Flawless”?

On September 15, 2017, the first Trials in the history of Destiny 2 began. After the “Trials of Osiris” came to an end in Destiny 1 in mid-August, the Trials return in the sequel as the “Trials of the Nine”.

Now, there have been several changes to this endgame PvP activity. We summarize all the information about the Trials of the Nine.

These are the Trials of the Nine in Destiny 2 – Everything you need to know about the PvP event

The Trials of the Nine represent a weekly Crucible PvP event where unique rewards can be earned. This event starts every Friday at 7 PM and ends on Tuesdays at 11 AM (summer time).

Access Requirements for the Trials

You must meet these requirements in order to participate in the Trials:

• Complete the story campaign
• Master the “Call to Arms” milestone at least once
• Have at least Power Level 260

  

Ticket, fireteam size, map, game modes – All new features and information about the Trials

Once the Trials event is live, you can start it via the navigator. You will find it in the Crucible overview:

• The “Trials Ticket”, which shows your progress, can be viewed in the navigator above the Trials symbol. It costs nothing.
• Players who achieve consecutive victories receive more Trials rewards.
• Defeats only count on a ticket after you have achieved the first victory.
• If you have three defeats on a ticket, you must start over. The ticket will be reset.

How do I achieve “Flawless” in the Trials? – Flawless, new social space, rewards

The main goal of the Trials is: A Flawless Ticket.

To achieve “Flawless”, you must fill your ticket with 7 victories. There must not be any defeats on the ticket. In other words: You need 7 consecutive victories. There are no items like in the Trials of Osiris that can remove a defeat or grant a victory.

Your rewards for the Trials are obtained in a new social space called “The Third Pillar”. Access to this place is only granted after you have won your first Trials match. The Emissary is located there:

There are four reward tiers in the Trials:

• After each match, you receive items and “Trials of the Nine” tokens.
• The Emissary has a reputation system. Redeem tokens with her and receive Trials Engrams.
• If you achieve multiple victories per ticket, jumping platforms in the social space will be activated. These will transport you to additional emissaries. They have extra rewards for you. From 3, 5, and 7 victories, you can collect your rewards. Important: You can also receive the reward for 7 victories without achieving “Flawless”.
• If you achieve “Flawless”, meaning 7 victories without a defeat, you will receive an additional reward. You can then jump to the top of the tower and be absorbed into another dimension. Here you will find a huge head of the Emissary of the Nine (see our title image). There, you can choose between two rewards.

Note that some Trials rewards are Powerful gear. This allows you to reach the maximum power level.

In the Trials weapons, it is noticeable that all perks revolve around sliding.

These are the weapons available from the engrams – however, you can also earn additional Trials weapons:

• The hand cannon is called Judgment. When you slide, the weapon’s magazine is partially loaded and range and stability are improved for a short time (the slide perk can also be replaced by another perk):

  

• The pulse rifle is called Relentless. The slide perk causes the magazine of the weapon to be partially loaded by sliding, and handling and stability are improved for a short time.

  

• The scout rifle is called The End and looks like a sniper. The slide perk is the same as the pulse rifle (handling and stability):

  

• The shotgun is called “A Sudden Death“. The slide perk is the same as that of the hand cannon (range and stability):

Today, September 15th, marks the beginning of the first Trials of the Nine in Destiny 2. On which map will it be played? What is the game mode? And what do I need to know about the new trials?

Today, Friday at 7 PM, the first Trials of the Nine in Destiny 2 will begin. These represent a hardcore PvP mode, in which there are expected to be powerful items to win.

In Destiny 1, these trials were called “Trials of Osiris“. You had to achieve multiple consecutive victories to earn the rewards. A journey to the Lighthouse, where the best loot was found, could only be won with a “flawless ticket”. For that, you needed 9 wins and could not have a loss on the ticket.

In fact, very little is known about this activity just before the launch of the “Trials of the Nine”. The new trials will take place on several maps in different game modes (both change weekly), they will be played in 4v4, and according to data mining, a woman with a creepy voice will be the announcer.

All further information will be released today starting at 7 PM. We will cover the launch of the trials live and update this article.

The first Trials of the Nine in Destiny 2

According to an infographic from Bungie, this is the map and the game mode:

• Map: Eternity
• Game Mode: Countdown
• Start: September 15th at 7 PM
• End: Expected to be September 19th at 11 AM

Update: 7:05 PM: The Guardians are looking for the trials. Apparently, you must complete the “Call to Arms” milestone to receive the “Trials of the Nine” milestone. The loadout is locked. During the matches, you cannot change items. Level advantages are disabled. You do not need a “ticket”.
There are 10 slots. Presumably 7 slots for victories and 3 slots for defeats. These will be displayed above the trials symbol in the Crucible.

Update 7:20 PM: Bungie announces the access requirements: You must have completed the campaign, mastered the “Call to Arms” milestone at least once, and have at least 260 Power.

Update 7:27 PM:

• Before a match, all opponents will be presented with their loadouts, so everyone knows what the others are playing.
• The “Herald” will speak to you.
• You need 6 round victories to win a match. As a reward, there are “Trials of the Nine” tokens among others.
• In the Crucible, after a victory, there is a new place you can choose above the trials symbol. “The Third Pillar: Unknown Room”. The Herald welcomes you there. Here you can hand in the tokens:

Last night, Bungie teased the Trials of the Nine with a short video. We have embedded it above. It shows three circles forming the new logo for the trials.

This logo corresponds to the Destiny 2 trophy symbol for “So You Don’t Get Judged“. The requirement is: Make acquaintance with a Herald from beyond. This foreigner will likely be met through the trials. It might be the shadow figure briefly seen in the above video:

The Crucible of Destiny 2 is still in exploration mode – the best weapons in PvP are being sought. We want to know from you: With which weapons are you dominating?

In Destiny 2, it’s all about the firepower of the Guardians. Many players are currently looking for and trying out the best weapons for their respective content. With this article, we want to take a first look at the Crucible and see what weapons the Guardians prefer to use against each other.

For this, we will introduce some very popular gems before you are asked!

Is there a first “Crucible Meta”?

No, it is still too early for that. However, there are clear parallels to the launch of Destiny 1. Auto rifles are incredibly strong – some representatives even outside their intended range.

This is because the Crucible is heavily influenced by team fights, with fewer 1v1 encounters happening. In team battles, spray weapons like auto rifles are excellent.

Even at longer ranges, initial favorites are emerging. Scout rifles are very effective at long distances. For medium range, hand cannons should feel very good, but they are currently outperformed by auto rifles. Pulse rifles and pistols are only competitive in certain situations.

Submachine guns are also strong and are excellent for pushing weakened opponents.

With power weapons, tastes vary greatly, which certainly brings some variety to the mix. There isn’t a clear “meta” here, many power weapons feel good and powerful, only grenade launchers are currently not as strong and therefore chosen less often.

Auto Rifles – Lasers and Peashooters

Auto rifles are currently popular, whether equipped in the kinetic or energy slot. With the sometimes large magazines, players can fire at enemy groups for a long time. Furthermore, they are easy to handle, with the recoil being easy to control. We present two of the most popular auto rifles.

Origin Story

Origin Story is an auto rifle of the Vanguard and is equipped in the kinetic slot. Its specific perk is Precision, when firing, the weapon pulls vertically, meaning more upwards and less to the side, making the weapon easier to handle.

Additionally, the weapon offers the perk “Rampage”, which is valuable in both PvE and PvP. With kills, the damage of the weapon increases, and this effect can stack up to three times.

The magazine holds 32 rounds, and the weapon’s range is superb. With the vertical recoil behavior, recoil is easily controlled, and you have a real beast in your hands. Try it out, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Uriel’s Gift

If your kinetic slot is already occupied, but you still want to have an auto rifle at hand, try Uriel’s Gift. The weapon is similar to Origin Story. It also features the perk “Precision”, which makes the recoil behavior vertical.

The special perk of the weapon ensures that you have increased stability and weapon handling immediately after pulling the trigger, which is particularly useful in PvP. The weapon has 33 rounds and is an absolute laser. You shouldn’t have any trouble landing headshots.

Scout Rifles – from the Kingdom of Far Far Away

Scout rifles are effective at long range and score with good stability and large magazines. At longer distances, you can avoid the spray weapons auto rifles and submachine guns.

Unfortunately, the design of the Crucible maps is set up in such a way that the action takes place in tighter spaces, which means that scout rifles showcase their strengths less often than in the predecessor but are still extremely deadly with proper and strategic positioning.

MIDA Multi-Tool

There is no way around them. The MIDA Multi-Tool can be obtained relatively easily through an exotic quest and also drops at a relatively high power level. It grants radar while aiming and increases movement speed. Paired with the submachine gun MIDA Mini-Tool, you hold an absolutely deadly combo in your hands.

Hand Cannons – Pew Pew or Boom Boom?

Hand cannons have a hard time in Destiny 2. In their optimal range, auto rifles dominate, while submachine guns shred them at shorter distances, and at longer ranges, the damage is simply insufficient.

Yet, skilled players can still get a lot out of hand cannons. Precise shots are rewarded. We present two decent representatives.

Better Devils

Better Devils – this weapon is a homage to the known evil, in English known as “The Devil you know”.

It is a hand cannon in the kinetic slot with a rate of fire of 140 rounds. Its special perk is “Explosive Payload”, which corresponds to explosive rounds in Destiny 1 and shakes the enemy’s aim considerably. Additionally, the weapon deals area damage, which is a nice side effect in groups of enemies.

If you enjoyed using hand cannons in Destiny 1, you will likely have fun with this weapon. Better Devils is currently one of the best legendary hand cannons in the game!

The Old Fashioned

The weapon is not only named that, but looks that way as well. It feels heavy and hefty, and deals out significant damage. It is equipped in the kinetic slot.

Additionally, the other stats of the weapon like range, stability, and handling are very good. Even the reload speed can be enhanced. As a special perk, the Old Fashioned has the so-called Kill Clip. Reloading after a kill grants bonus damage (Reactive Reload in Destiny 1).

If you’ve always wanted to feel like a cowboy, you’ll have fun with the Old Fashioned.

Pulse Rifles

Similar to hand cannons, pulse rifles currently have no real place in the meta, as they compete with other weapon types at their optimal range. Pulse rifles also have the issue that they are among the slowest to kill, even if all shots hit.

Nevertheless, there are some fantastic representatives of this weapon class that we don’t want to overlook.

Nightshade

The star among pulse rifles. Its lightweight frame offers strong handling, and Guardians can move faster when the weapon is equipped. Stability and handling are top-notch, and the perk Kill Clip provides more damage if you reload right after a kill.

There isn’t much more to say about the weapon; it feels great and shoots very precisely even at longer distances. Additionally, the reload speed is very high.

Nergal PR4

The Nergal PR4 is the alternative to Nightshade for the energy slot. It is similar to Nightshade, with the intrinsic perk being identical (perfect handling, faster movement speed).

Additionally, this weapon offers full auto! Pull the trigger and watch the damage numbers. If you want to equip a pulse rifle in the energy slot, the Nergal PR4 is a solid choice.

To obtain the legendary weapons, you have to hope for random drops.

The MMO shooter Destiny 2 is a hit. Activision says so, and Bungie nods in agreement. Next, they present some impressive numbers.

It would have been a surprise if Activision and Bungie hadn’t released the “Yay, we are a hit!” press release. It arrived punctually today, Friday. While Activision and Bungie are relatively sparing with the figures, overall: Yes, Destiny 2 has made a big impact.

Biggest Launch of the Year – Strong Digitally

Destiny 2 was released on September 6 for PS4 and Xbox One – the PC release is scheduled for late October. As Activision happily announces, it is the “biggest console launch of 2017 so far”.

Additionally, Destiny 2 has broken further records in terms of player engagement and digital sales in the first week.

Destiny 2 sold more copies in pre-order than Destiny 1. Particularly in digital sales, there were more sold on Day 1 in the PlayStation Store than the first part.

1 Million Players Online Simultaneously – For 8 Days in a Row

Bungie also states: “We had more than 1 million players online concurrently at peak for 8 days in a row.”

Destiny 2 is also a hit on Twitch. Here, it has already amassed 600,000,000 minutes of viewing time. When the Destiny 2 raid went live on September 13, it shot to 1st place in simultaneous viewers on Twitch.

In Stores, Destiny 1 Probably Sold Better – At Least in the UK

So much for the press release. A few days ago, other news about sales figures emerged, not from Bungie, but landed in the NeoGaf forum. There, the “physical sales”, meaning the box sales, of Destiny 1 were compared with Destiny 2 in the United Kingdom.

In this comparison, Destiny 2 did not perform so well. Destiny 1 sold 192,000 units for PS4 and 17,000 for PS3 in the UK back in 2014, while Destiny 2 only sold 101,500 units for PS4 in 2017. That’s almost half. For Xbox One, however, the number has remained almost the same.

This could also be because in 2014, more PS4 players went to stores and bought a box. Today, it has become established to digitally purchase a game from the PS4 store.

The new raid from Destiny 2, Leviathan, offers plenty of space for explorers. Hidden in the endless corridors are chests. You need different keys for this. We will show you the locations.

The new raid in Destiny 2 is an overwhelming experience. Behind the normal raid area hides an elaborate system of corridors, switches, and jumping puzzles.

And in this huge underground area, there are 9 hidden chests. You can only open the chests if you have the corresponding key. You can earn these keys in the individual phases of the raid. Which key you get is random – all members of a fireteam receive the same key, which makes the chest search a bit easier since everyone needs the same one.

The well-known streamer Arekkz has now released a video that will help you find all 9 chests. Keep in mind that the area beneath the Leviathan is gigantic. For some chests, you will easily spend 10 minutes.

And what’s inside? The chests spit out legendary engrams, Calus tokens, and sometimes even exotic engrams.

This is how you access the underground of Leviathan – All chests

To even gain access to the chests, you need to go to a secret room directly under the point where you started the raid. Here you will find six levers that must be activated in the correct order. If you number the levers from left to right, the order is 1-5-3-2-4-6.

Now you can set out to the chest area by heading to the two converging pipes. There is a small jumping passage in the darkness that leads you to all the chests.

To gain access to some chests, you need to eliminate four guardian robots before they can call for reinforcements. They call for reinforcements as soon as a guardian is in their red search radius. So it’s best to equip a rocket launcher and take them out before they can see you.

If you fail, just go through a door out of the relevant room and re-enter after activating the lever again. If you did everything correctly, a door with the chest inside will open. The corresponding doors are easy to recognize; they are golden adorned and designed in the typical raid style.

Engine Key – Kiste

The way to the chest that requires the Engine Key is shown in the video from 2:17 minutes. Here you need to eliminate the four guardians without being seen before you gain access to the chest.

Fan Key – Kiste

From minute 4:11 in the video, Arekkz shows you how to reach the fan chest. You need to disable a huge fan before it literally slams you against the wall. After the second fan, the chest is located on a ledge on the left side.

Pipeline Key – Kiste

The chest in the pipe area can be found in the video from minute 4:41. Here again, you need to stealthily eliminate four guardians before they raise the alarm. If you did everything correctly, a golden adorned door will open again.

Conduit Key – Kiste

The path to the Conduit Key is long – Arekkz looks for it for you in the video from minute 5:23. Here again, you need to eliminate four guardians, but they are inconveniently spread out. So communicate well to avoid being discovered!

Irrigation Key – Kiste

The hunt for the Irrigation Key can be seen from minute 7:39 in the video. To reach the chest, you need to complete a tightrope act on drainage pipes. The chest is otherwise freely accessible.

Drain Key – Kiste

From minute 8:18, the video leads you to the Drain Key. Here you will again have to deal with four guardians before the door to the chest opens.

Transfer Key – Kiste

Armory Key – Kiste
