Destiny 2 is coming to PC and the excitement for the launch is drowning in a sea of tears.
The PC release of Destiny 2 has delighted and frustrated PC gamers for years.
PC Release of Destiny 2 – An Emotional Roller Coaster
Even before the console release, Activision was sweet-talking PC gamers: Destiny – it would fit well on PC, they said back in September 2014. A contract had even been signed for a PC port planned for 2016.
From 2014 to 2016, there were repeated rumors about a PC port. However, those hopes were dashed each time. Destiny 1 took place without PC gamers.
Until 2017, when the news came: Destiny 2 is coming to PC! Many were excited at that time. It seemed clear: Great, we will all start with Destiny 2 on September 8!
PC gamers cautiously hoped: Maybe it’s only 14 days.
Later it turned out: PC gamers would start a full 6 weeks later. Only on October 24 would it begin.
An up and down of emotions. And this was all long before a PC gamer could lay their hands on Destiny for the first time!
PC Gamers are First-Class Citizens
To justify the late PC launch, Bungie said, the PC version just takes longer to be really good. They could have postponed the PS4 and Xbox One launch as well but chose not to. Bungie assured that they wanted to treat PC gamers well. Love them, and consider them as first-class citizens.
Despite all assurances, the decision for the late start was poorly received by PC gamers: “6 weeks longer to wait?” – that dampened the mood.
PC gamers suspected: Every secret, every story twist, every trick would have already been known if they started with Destiny 2.
The Beta was Really Good, But That Doesn’t Matter Now
The beta for Destiny 2 on PC went well, however. Players acknowledged that Destiny 2 on PC has a lot to offer. It didn’t feel like a console port, but like a real PC game. The new Guardians were excited for Destiny 2 on PC – a game with high frame rates and great resolution.
However, this excitement is hardly felt a day before the release. Destiny 2 is in a felt crisis as 6 weeks with Destiny 2 on PS4 and Xbox One have revealed some weaknesses. Especially the motivation to replay content is lacking, and PvP is a major point of criticism.
Especially many people who play Destiny 2 and post in forums are frustrated about design decisions made by Bungie and Activision. There is a desire to “fight back” and express their discontent to the world.
Under articles about Destiny 2 on PC, players advise against starting now. The mood is low. The momentum is lacking.
One thing is clear: The negative mood is not all-encompassing, and there are indeed players who are satisfied with Destiny 2. However, the negative voices are loud and clearly audible.
Bungie and Activision Misjudged
On closer examination: Even if everything had gone perfectly with Destiny 2, a new game with story and PvE content traditionally reaches a first low point after 6 weeks. The initial honeymoon phase has faded. Story and content are through, and faults and deficiencies become apparent. Hardly any game with PvE content looks better 6 weeks after release than it did at launch.
This is what years of experience with games that have a similar content structure to Destiny shows.
With The Elder Scrolls Online, the planned launch on PS4 and Xbox One was postponed by a year in 2014. 6 weeks after the PC release of ESO, the mood was at an all-time low.
Even with The Taken King, the peak of Destiny 1, the mood 6 weeks after launch was more like: “Now the next DLC could come.”
Also, with games like The Division, the excitement faded after 6 weeks.
Decision for Late Launch of Destiny 2 Raises Questions
Did Bungie and Activision really believe the mood around Destiny 2 would be ideal for a PC launch 6 weeks after release? Destiny 2 would have to be the glorious exception to the rule. The content of Destiny 2 offers no reason for such hope, especially since Bungie itself knew that Destiny 2 would not be a long-term success, speaking of respecting “the time of the Guardians.”
Either someone completely misjudged the situation or the skeptics are right who said: The late PC release was not a decision by Activision and Bungie, but was linked to concessions with Sony/Activision.
In any case, the late release raises even more questions than it did back in May when the decision was made.
How do you see it? Does the current mood affect your desire to play Destiny 2 on PC? Or are you unaffected by such things?
If you are eager to play Destiny 2 on PC, we recommend this article:
The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is getting a bit bigger today, as the DLC Clockwork City is here. It brings a large new area, a new raid, and another PvP battleground. Also, you can transmute your gear even without the DLC.
Clockwork City, is the last DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online that will be released in 2017. For 2,000 crowns (approximately 12 euros), you can explore the legendary Clockwork City from today, October 23, and experience adventures there. Players with an ESO subscription can enter at no additional cost.
The DLC offers a new region, a new city, open dungeons, the raid “Sanctorium Institution”, a new PvP battleground, and an item transmutation system.
Clockwork City brings new content to explore – Raid, Dungeons & PvP
The new DLC Clockwork City takes you into the alternate dimension of the Clockwork City. Everything there is made of metal, gears, and oil. Even trees and animals!
Thus, the DLC embraces steampunk: a style where gears, steam engines, and mechanics play an important role. But the steampunk idyll is in danger, and heroes are needed to save it!
If you are less interested in PvE, you can try out the new PvP battleground “Mad King”. There, the points to be conquered move wildly in the vegetation, leading to chaotic and wild battles. Beware: To play the PvP battleground, you need the Morrowind expansion. However, it is not required for the rest of the DLC.
However, keep in mind that you can only do this publicly in the Clockwork City. There is also a transmutation workstation for housing, and if you don’t have a house, you can ask a friend or guild member to let you use their workstation in their home.
If you want to spend a little more money, you can get the Clockwork City Collector’s Pack for 4,000 crowns (approximately 25 euros). This pack includes the DLC expansion, the Clockwork Skeevemite as a companion, the Kagouti Mechanoid as a mount, and five Scrolls of Learning.
When is the DLC Clockwork City coming to ESO for PS4 and Xbox One? – Release Date
The console version of Clockwork City will be released on November 7 for PS4 and Xbox One.

For a few minutes, Niantic apparently tested the new spoofer protection in Pokémon GO and denied many cheaters access to the game. The protection is now inactive.
Niantic continues to work on keeping cheating players away from Pokémon GO. This is now evident with a new anti-spoofing measure that was recently active for a few minutes. This works particularly effectively and does not allow spoofers to enter the game.
However, GPS fakers quickly found a way to bypass the protection. The measure has since been deactivated.
New in-game message for spoofers
Currently, the Halloween event is taking place in Pokémon GO, attracting trainers with frequent spawns of ghost Pokémon from the 3rd generation. There are also candy rewards. At the same time, the developers are trying to take important steps against the cheaters in Pokémon GO.
During the data mining of the penultimate update 0.79.2, experts found a blacklist function. Community experts suspect that certain GPS fake apps are on the blacklist and their users can be excluded from Pokémon GO through the list.
A few days ago, this new anti-cheat measure was apparently tested by the developers. Trainers with GPS fake apps suddenly could no longer enter Pokémon GO. (GPS fakers use programs to report a false location to Pokémon GO. This allows trainers to be anywhere in the game while lying on the couch at home. This is not allowed.)
The cheaters could not enter the game but received this message:
Source: Reddit user PikAtChuHuN
“We have detected software that may impact Pokémon GO. This includes apps that falsify your location. Using unauthorized software that has a direct impact on Pokémon GO is a violation of Niantic’s terms of use and may result in the loss of your account. You must uninstall such apps to continue playing.”
More aggressive tactics against cheaters were requested
With this warning and exclusion from Pokémon GO, Niantic has now taken a much more aggressive stance against cheaters. Previously, Niantic warned cheaters but still granted them access to the game.
With the new message, cheaters could no longer play Pokémon GO. Players from the community had long wished for such a tough stance against spoofers.
Cheat protection circumvented after a short time
As positive as the anti-cheat news may sound – they only lasted briefly. In the spoofing forum for Pokémon GO, there was already a way to bypass the blacklist about an hour later. Shortly thereafter, Niantic deactivated the protection again, and spoofers were able to enter the game with their fake GPS apps again. This pleases the spoofers.
Trainers who play without cheats are annoyed by the deactivation. For them, it feels like a defeat.
We are curious to see what Niantic comes up with in the future and whether they can effectively improve the blacklist.
Playing Overwatch as a woman is not so easy – at least when using the voice chat. Because then you get bombarded with hostility.
Unfortunately, hostility in Overwatch is part of everyday life. If you don’t play exactly how an aggressive teammate wishes, you quickly receive some harsh words thrown at you.
The YouTuber nweatherservice, who also regularly streams her Overwatch games, has compiled what she has experienced in recent months. There are numerous insults and hostilities – long before a match has even started. And that’s just because she is a woman.
“Go back to the kitchen?” – “Excuse me?” – “I don’t think I have spoken unclearly.”
Insults are part of everyday life in Overwatch
As almost always, this topic also causes controversial discussions in the community. While a large part of the players agrees that this behavior should in no way be tolerated, there are also a few dissenting voices. It is said that it was “just as bad” to respond to the insults and say something back.

There was also heated discussion about how a typically friendly player should react in such a situation?
Should one intervene and take sides with the lady? Then one quickly comes to be seen as a “White Knight” and might give the woman the impression that she is viewed as “weak” for not defending herself alone. Should one therefore stay silent? Then it may convey the impression of agreeing with the flamer.
The best response is probably a brief, harsh reaction that this is not tolerated, followed by blocking the player. Just don’t engage in a discussion…
The corresponding post on Reddit received more than 26,000 upvotes and has now been locked because the moderators can no longer keep up with addressing the violations – which they regret very much, as the topic is serious and should be discussed.
Have you been or will you be treated like this in Overwatch regularly when you identify as a woman? Or do you think this is just a concatenation of individual cases that are “not representative” at all?
In Black Desert Online your hero grows beyond himself with his awakening skills and only uses the stylish new weapon. However, in Korea, there are now new so-called “absolute skills”. With these, your regular weapons will be at least as strong as the awakening version.
A problem in Black Desert Online has been that you can actually throw your old weapons away without a care when you “awaken” at level 56. The new weapon you get is so strong that it is mostly indispensable. Who wants to hit around with bare hands as a sorceress when you can have a cool scythe with much more DPS instead?
But actually, it’s a pity because the old weapons would have had their charm. The developers are aware of this as well, because in Korea there are now new skills that hit as hard with the old weapons as the awakening weapons do.
Double to triple damage through absolute skills
The new skill alternative to awakening is called “absolute skills”. These are extremely powerful versions of some (but not all) existing skills. You can only use the new abilities from the awakening and they offer double to triple the DPS potential of the regular skills.
With the new absolute skills, you can really use the old weapon instead of the awakening weapon more often with a clear conscience. The downside of the new skills is that they cost a lot of skill points. Costs of 50 or more points are certainly possible. So you have to weigh whether to upgrade your old weapon or the awakening item.
Absolute skills and skill fusion are not the same!
Also interesting: The absolute skills are something different than the skill fusion from the also new mechanic “Rabam’s Enlightenment”. Both features are completely different and do not influence each other.
So far, the new absolute skills are only available in Korea and only for the classes warrior and ranger.
Since the information about the absolute skills became known, the community has been debating actively. Most players think the idea is great. However, there are concerns that it will take months before all classes have their absolute skills. So similar to the endless wait for the awakening weapon of every hero before.
Others, however, contradict this because the absolute skills are “only” improved values of old abilities, not new skills. However, some players fear that the constant increase in DPS skills will come at the expense of defense in PvP.
What is Massive Entertainment actually doing right now? They have little to do with Year 2 of The Division.
These days, numerous agents are eagerly awaiting Update 1.8. This is supposed to be released in Autumn 2017 and will bring a lot of new content, such as a map expansion, two new game modes, a revision of the Dark Zone mechanics, and a lot more stuff that players have long been yearning for.
What is interesting is: All this content is not being created by Massive, the actual developers of Division, themselves. The new game modes and the changes to the Dark Zone come from the “Red Storm” studios, and the upcoming Global Events are being worked on by the Reflections Studios. Both are Ubisoft studios.
Overall, it seems that the “Red Storm” studios are leading the charge for Year 2 of The Division. In almost every “State of the Game” livestream in recent months, two Red Storm developers were present to introduce their new content.
This raises the question: What is Massive actually doing during this time?
Has Massive given up The Division?
In fact, it has been over a year since the Division developers from Massive personally went public to talk extensively about the shared-world shooter. This was during Update 1.4, which fundamentally revised and improved the endgame experience. The lead AI designer from Massive, Drew Rechner, and the senior game designer from Massive, Nikki Kuppens, presented the key changes at that time.
After that, it became quiet around the developers of Massive. Already the Update 1.6, which introduced the PvP mode “Last Stand,” was primarily developed by the “Red Storm” studios.
While the first ETF (Elite Task Force, a group of community representatives) for Update 1.4 still took place at Massive in Sweden, the community representatives for Update 1.6 were invited to the USA at Red Storm. The third ETF for Year 2 took place in England, at the Reflections Studios.
One thing is for sure: Massive Entertainment itself is currently putting in no (or hardly any) effort into the Year 2 content of The Division. What are they doing instead?
Avatar and The Division – What Massive is working on
Since spring 2017, it has been known that Ubisoft is planning a new Avatar game, which aims to achieve great things. Therefore, a strong studio should be behind it, placing a lot of emphasis on details and approaching the matter with great passion – and this studio is Massive Entertainment.
When this information became public, agents were up in arms. There were fears that this would be a death sentence for The Division. That Ubisoft and Massive would abandon The Division and replace it with a new project.
Shortly after that, community developer Hamish Bode calmed the nerves: The new Avatar game will not affect the ongoing development of The Division. They are hiring new people. The work will proceed separately. Massive continues to work on The Division.
A look at the Massive page underlines this statement. The studio is currently hiring new people. Over 40 new full-time positions are advertised. The majority refers to the “Avatar Project”. They are looking for programmers and designers.
However, Massive is also hiring numerous people for The Division, such as programmers, artists, and designers. In other words, work is currently being done in the background on the future of The Division.
The Division 2 or a Year 3?
The question is: Is Massive working on a Year 3 or perhaps a full sequel, a “The Division 2”? There are good arguments for both possibilities.
For a Year 3 speaks, that Massive made great efforts with Update 1.4 to make The Division future-proof. This update was a complete overhaul for the shared-world shooter, in 2017 PvP modes were and are being added, slowly the game is outgrowing its teething problems. It would be a shame if, after Year 2, they said: “Friends, that’s it!”
In the last Ubisoft financial report, they also mentioned that they want to focus more on “live operations” in the future – meaning that a game will be supplied with new updates and content over the years. This approach is one Ubisoft wants to pursue more intensively – whether it will also be applied to The Division with a Year 3 or whether a full sequel will come, the future will tell.
For a “The Division 2” there are also several arguments. Already in February 2017, Ubisoft revealed that no new title would be released for a currently successful franchise in 2017 – as was originally planned – but that it would be expanded through updates. This means that for a franchise, the original planning was thrown overboard and the year 2017 had to be bridged.
We assumed and still assume that this refers to the Division franchise. After all, Year 2 currently seems quite improvised. And this would mean: Massive is already working on the planned sequel – but is taking (at least) a year longer to meet the high demands of the community.
Perhaps the year 2018 comes too early for a The Division 2. Maybe the agents’ journey will continue in The Division 1. However, it is noticeable how quiet it has become around Massive. Most likely they are currently working tirelessly behind the scenes on something big for The Division.
In Black Desert players discuss whether the Korean MMORPG is also a gamble for money in high-level play.
Currently, there is a discussion about loot boxes happening in gaming. Blockbuster games like Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Star Wars Battlefront 2 have ignited and fueled this discussion.
Players spend money on a loot box but do not know what item they will get. Isn’t that essentially gambling and should it therefore be treated and regulated like gambling? One would think that children should be protected from such things.
Wait, if loot boxes are gambling – what about Black Desert?
On the forum reddit, a discussion about the Korean MMORPG Black Desert has erupted. There are hidden random mechanics deep in the endgame that an angry forum poster considers “unethical.” After all, Black Desert is rated for players aged 16 – young people must also be protected from the developers’ methods.
The problem is: In Black Desert there is no proper auto-loot, you cannot simply crouch and with a push of a button loot the corpses of 400 pirates.
Instead, players have pets for the job. In the European version of Black Desert, each player can employ 4 pets, in Korea even 5. These are dogs, cats, or birds.
These pets then automatically loot the corpses. Pets come in 4 “tier” levels. The higher the level, the faster the pet loots.
If the pets are “too slow,” a pile of loot remains unused. A nightmare for anyone trying to get the most out of their gaming time.
RNG for the best possible pet?
The problem is, to obtain a “higher-level pet”, you must crossbreed two lower-tier animals. In the process, these animals disappear and a third pet is created, which can have the next higher level – or not. Here is where the randomness comes into play.
You can combine pet A (T3) and B (T3) and then get pet C.
If pet C has T4, then everything is fine.
If pet C only has T3, then players have effectively lost a “pet T3.”
These pets are mostly tied to the cash shop of Black Desert. It costs money if you want to take the chance for a better pet – and in principle, you can lose money there.
Therefore, one faction believes:
This is clearly gambling. Subtly, Black Desert forces me to part with money to play the game optimally. If I don’t do that and let only weak pets collect loot for me, then I have a significant disadvantage.
How bad is this RNG effect?
In principle, there are two opinions regarding the discussion.
One side says: Yes, this is the trick of Black Desert. It’s all aligned with the cash shop if you want to keep up in the endgame. This is typical for Korean MMORPGs to pull such tricks with RNG. When you reach the end of Black Desert, you realize: You constantly need to keep the PC running to generate passive income, which you then invest into such RNG upgrade games.
The other side says: Well, that’s also exaggerated. You don’t necessarily need these highest pets. You can do without. Black Desert may have weaknesses – but not in terms of pets.
In any case, this discussion shows how difficult the topic “Pay2Win” is in such complex MMORPGs. Because to understand where the problem lies, one must be familiar with the game and dive deeper.
It is often argued regarding Black Desert that: One can also buy the pets from the auction house for in-game silver. To which others respond: Yes, but no one ever puts them up because no one is foolish enough to do so.
Mein MMO says: These elements that tempt hardcore players to spend a lot of money in the shop are opaque and hidden. It’s about “game enhancements” and “game advantages” that only appear deep in the endgame.
Such RNG elements in upgrading items can become significantly expensive – but one typically only realizes this after investing a lot of time in an MMORPG, making it difficult to resist.
Korean MMORPGs like Black Desert or ArcheAge divide opinions with their cash temptations. Those who approach these MMORPGs with the ambition to compete at the top will be much more confronted with these elements than someone who is “just playing for fun.”
The video game market is constantly changing. Especially single-player titles are gradually becoming extinct. A trend that is hardly reversible, believes Cortyn.
Increasingly, the single-player campaigns no longer seem like the core aspect of the game, but rather just a nice addition. For example, the campaign of Star Wars: Battlefront II has an estimated playtime of just over 5 hours. More and more, it seems like a single-player mode is only meant to cater to fans who have not yet adapted to the market and are still stuck in the “old times” with campaigns lasting several days.
Even games that are purely single-player titles at heart, such as Final Fantasy XV, are gradually being expanded to include multiplayer modes.
Sure, now and then there are still single-player games with a large campaign, such as Witcher 3 or Mass Effect: Andromeda. But those are the big AAA titles that can generate enough attention to be profitable for the publishers.
So what is the reason that single-player titles are becoming rare exceptions? We want to get to the bottom of this with this article.
Reselling harms developers
In an interview with Gamewatcher, Arcade Berg from MachineGames talked about why he believes that story shooters with an offline focus are slowly becoming extinct.
The simple reason: money. A good multiplayer game generates significant revenue. Players tell their friends and invite them to play together. This means that all players need to own their own version of the game to play with their friends. That boosts sales.
Through additional multiplayer DLCs and microtransactions, such as new characters, weapons, or other bonuses, the studio earns a lot of cash long after the game’s release.
With single-player titles, it’s different. Once you finish the game, you lend it to a friend or resell it. The developers do not benefit from this resale.
I personally could never permanently part with my beloved games, but lending them out for a few weeks so that friends and colleagues can play through them? Of course! And just like that, a publisher loses a few customers again.
Too many games – even good titles get buried
There is an oversupply of games. While big releases are still somewhat special, smaller titles are increasingly struggling.
Sure, a publisher like EA can place ads everywhere until no one can avoid them. But small studios risk their games being swept away in the crowd.
This is particularly evident on Steam. The platform is globally regarded as the market leader for PC games and has rapidly developed in just over a decade. To have a small comparison:
In 2004, a total of 7 games were released on Steam.
2010 saw 276 games
and 2016 a proud 4,207 games.
For 2017, it is expected that Steam will end the year with 6,000 new entries
In other words: On average, 16 games are released on Steam every day these days.
We are currently in the crazy situation that more games are being released than we could ever play, even if we put 100% of our free time into it.
And since there is so much competition, developers prefer to focus on online features that hopefully bind a small core community. This in turn leads to games being financed long-term through microtransactions.
One last argument is the constant online “compulsion” that players face today. Whether on PC or console, basically every player is always connected to the internet. And no matter if on Steam, Origin or Battle.net, at any time of day or night, there are a few friends online with whom you can jump into the next match.
While this used to apply only to PC players, PS4 and Xbox One are now also made for online gaming: the respective networks are constantly in use.
Sure, if you really push it, you can also be “offline” and immerse yourself in a single-player title for a few hours. But before that can even happen, usually a few friends have to be “shooed away.” Especially with close friends, the pressure is higher to do something in a group, which is why pure single-player titles languish in our Steam libraries for years until our guilt becomes so great that we simply hide them.
Some who want to play alone today have to decline their friends who are used to gaming together.
In total, there are several reasons for the slow extinction of single-player titles. I can only hope that gems like some JRPGs or even great shooters like BioShock will still be available in the future. Because for me personally, even a “lonely” evening with a single-player title is a true relaxation.
The Festival of the Lost was the Halloween event in Destiny 1. Will it return in Destiny 2 ?
“Once again, we light candles, hang lanterns, and laugh in the face of death.” – Under this motto, the Festival of the Lost took place in 2016. This festival was the Halloween event in Destiny 1, where Guardians would don silly masks, earn new treasures and new shaders, and even receive a “flying broom” as a Sparrow .
This Halloween event took place from October 25th to November 8th, 2016. Therefore, many Guardians are currently asking: Will the Festival of the Lost return in Destiny 2? Shouldn’t it be starting soon?
Hints about Eva Levante
The contact person for the Halloween event in Destiny 1 was Eva Levante. She was always located in the North Tower, brought a short quest to the festival, and happily distributed her masks, which you were then able to wear.
Eva Levante is missing in Destiny 2. She is neither in the Tower nor in the Farm.
However: Concrete hints about Eva Levante have been found in the databases. The code directly refers to “Eva Levante”. This symbol is thereby connected to the one that was undoubtedly the symbol of Eva in Destiny 1: It also states that the full description of this character will be coming soon.
Some Guardians are concluding that Eva Levante will soon make a return in Destiny 2 and bring the Festival of the Lost. But will it really be so?
Festival of the Lost will be cancelled this year
No, that will not happen, reveals now the community manager DeeJ. On Twitter, he responded to the direct question of whether the Festival of the Lost will take place this year: No. We may see it again someday, but Season 1 in Destiny 2 is solely about the launch and the activation of the rituals. The first event in Destiny 2 will be “The Dawning”.
Whether Eva Levante will eventually appear in Destiny 2 or if the hints are just remnants in the databases remains to be seen.
By the way: The Festival of the Lost did not go over well with a large part of the Guardians in 2016. Because almost all event items were tied to loot boxes. You could only earn a few boxes with the characters – if you wanted more, you had to make microtransactions.
When does the TOTY come to FIFA 18 FUT? What predictions are there for the Team of the Year, which players will receive a “Team of the Year” card in Ultimate Team?
In recent years, the TOTY cards in Ultimate Team were always released in mid-January – as was the case in FIFA 17 FUT. The so-called “FIFA FIFPro World11” has always been awarded early in the year and presented in Zurich, which is why EA Sports released the “Team of the Year” cards immediately afterward.
This world eleven features the professional players who showed the best performances last year. In the Ultimate Team mode, these players receive blue special cards with significantly enhanced ratings. These TOTY cards are the best cards in the game – and therefore expensive and sought after.
However, the release of the TOTY cards in FUT 18 is causing confusion. The FIFA has altered the schedule, so the award for the best footballers of the year 2017 takes place on October 23, 2017, and not in January 2018.
Therefore, many fans are now wondering: Will the TOTY also come to FUT 18 now in October?
The release of the TOTY in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team is causing confusion
The speculation about a possible October release was fueled by the official German Facebook page “EA Sports FIFA Ultimate Team (German)“: The responsible editor “Niko” wrote that the TOTY will be released on 23.10. This date is the “pre-release”. The official release will be on 27.10.
Shortly thereafter, he clarified this statement, explaining that it was his personal assessment. These were not official statements. In the meantime, all these comments have been deleted, but quick Reddit users were able to capture them in screenshots.
Colleagues from GameStar inquired with EA Sports to end the speculation about the release date. They received the answer that the Team of the Year in FUT 18 will not be released on October 23. It is incorrect information on Facebook.
Today, on October 23, the official response from EA Sports came via Twitter. The “FUT 18 Team of the Year” definitely will not appear in October. More information will follow in the future.

When the specific TOTY release will be is still unclear. The developers may stick to the January date.
Because it would be quite unfavorable to release the best player cards in FUT 18 just a month after the official “FIFA 18” launch. This would take away the excitement and motivation from FUT 18. Furthermore, an event is currently running: The Halloween event Ultimate Scream. You can already pull special cards from the packs.
The players in the TOTY
Update: The players have now been released:
FIFA 18 FUT – These were the predictions for the Team of the Year
As soon as the players of the world eleven 2017 are known, we will publish them here. (see above)
Until then, you will find below predictions for the TOTY cards, which come from the fifauteam page. TOTY predictions are forecasts of which players deserve a spot in the Team of the Year:
Secret World Legends has just released the Halloween update, and the mystery MMO is already teasing the next patch. In November, several new things are set to come to the game, including a long-awaited quality of life feature. Is it an alternative DPS slot for healers and tanks?
Healers and tanks are the unsung heroes of every MMO. While their fellow DPS players deal damage to their hearts’ content and worry only about optimal skill rotation and a bit of movement, healers and tanks have a thankless job. They must constantly pay attention to maintaining aggro from bosses and mobs or time their healing skills perfectly so that the tank or careless DPS heroes do not go down immediately.
If there’s an opportunity for healers and tanks to deal some DPS, they usually lack the equipment and the right skills for it. They have to settle for ineffective flailing.
November Update for SWL brings Quality of Life Features & “Elementalism”
The hard fate of healers and tanks may soon change in Secret World Legends. In a teaser for the upcoming November update, the developers at Funcom spoke about a major “Quality of Life” update, meaning new comfort features. According to many players, this could refer to an extra slot for DPS gear that tanks and healers can use to pack the big guns.

This would be a great blessing for many players, as they would not always have to painstakingly assemble a second set of gear from their inventory manually. Another topic of the upcoming update is “Elementalism,” about which Funcom remains silent for now. Perhaps there will be additional effects and skills for users of elemental magic?

The Darwin Project aims to take a piece of the currently popular Battle Royale pie and will soon launch its first closed alpha phase.
Humanity is on the brink of extinction from the next ice age. To prepare and entertain the viewers, a show is being held in which the participants fight for their survival. You participate in this show and are brought to a frigid landscape where you must try to stay alive.
Survival and Battle Royale
However, this is not so easy. Because in addition to the harsh weather conditions, other participants want to get you too. Everyone wants to be the only survivor and therefore tries to do everything possible. You must constantly be on guard and fend off the other players.
Each participant has special abilities designed to secure their survival. For example, it is possible to recognize other players using a heat vision. Or you can use a shield that protects you from attacks. Others can become invisible and then strike from ambush or fly a short distance to surprise your enemies from the air.
Closed Alpha Starts Soon
You can soon experience how it plays. Because the first closed alpha takes place from November 10 to November 12. If you want to participate, sign up on the official website. With a bit of luck, you’ll get one of the coveted accesses. But even if you are not selected, you can find out how The Darwin Project plays. Because live streams from the alpha can be aired, which you can follow if you’re interested. Additionally, during the alpha, there will be a Twitch session with the developers who will share more about the game.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, unlike its predecessor. Are you unsure whether you should take a closer look at the game? Find out here if Destiny 2 is worth it for you!
Destiny is a mystery. Launched with huge expectations in September 2014, the FPS shooter quickly faced criticism. The story felt incomplete and confusing. The reward system was underdeveloped and the endgame content was almost nonexistent except for one activity.
This reflected in the reviews from the press, which rated Destiny with mediocre scores, sometimes as low as 6 out of 10.
However, the player base didn’t care. More and more Guardians dove into the Destiny universe. The last known number from Bungie speaks of over 25 million created accounts. For many, Destiny is considered the best 6/10 game of all time.
The Fascination of Destiny
If a game is so successful despite all its shortcomings, there must be other reasons for that.
The gunplay of Destiny can only be described as “outstanding”. Intuitive handling of weapons and precise aiming ensure that it has never felt so good to play with a controller as it does with the guns in Destiny.
According to initial tests from the beta, the control with mouse and keyboard on PC feels just as intuitive as with a gamepad.
However, the biggest success factor was the players themselves. Destiny 1 offered only rudimentary matchmaking, and there was no way to find other players in-game for the hardest content. This led the Guardians to become creative. External tools were created where Guardians could meet for various activities.
Often, random acquaintances became true friends and longtime companions. The Internet is full of stories of how Guardians from all over the world met in person after years of virtual acquaintances and reminisced about their shared experiences.
Over the years, a passionate and dedicated community has grown, bringing many ideas to the table and also being heard by Bungie. Many adjustments, especially in the early days of Destiny 1, were made due to player feedback.
Additionally, Bungie has released the API to their own databases. Clever players have developed fantastic tools for item management, finding players for joint activities, or detailed statistics on player performance in the Crucible. If you want to see how much time you’ve spent in Destiny, you can do that as well.
All these points are evidence of why Bungie was so successful with Destiny.
And with Destiny 2, the success continues
The press now presents Destiny 2 in a much better light than Destiny 1. On Metacritic (a site that collects reviews), Destiny 2 receives a metascore of 85 (maximum 100) for the PS4 version based on over 90 reviews. The metascore for Xbox One is even better at 87. This means Destiny 2 scores about 10 points better than Destiny 1.
The gunplay, the story, and the PvE activities, which come with impressive vastness, are particularly praised. The first hours in Destiny 2 are excellent.
Bungie has already promised improvements that should enhance the endgame. However, when and in what form these will come is still unknown.
Is Destiny 2 worth it for me?
Destiny 2 on PC has a lot to offer:
It is a graphically impressive first-person shooter. Especially on PC, it delivers a lot in 4K, HDR, and uncapped framerates.
It offers a detailed story and plenty of additional PvE content.
The social aspect is greatly emphasized. You can also play PvE content in co-op – some must be played together with others. For many, this PvE co-op experience is what makes Destiny fascinating.
But there is also plenty for PvP enthusiasts to do.
Below are the basics that you should know as Destiny newcomers.
The Races and Classes
In Destiny, when choosing your character, your “Guardian”, you can choose from three different races: Humans, Exos, and Awoken. These races differ only in appearance; your choice has no impact on the gameplay experience in Destiny 2.
Classes are different. As in Destiny 1, you can choose from the classes Titan, Warlock, and Hunter, which we have presented here in more detail. Unlike its predecessor, classes in Destiny 2 will have different special abilities that encourage differentiated play styles.
Each class has a selection of grenades, ranging from sticky grenades to homing grenades.
Additionally, you get a powerful melee attack.
The centerpiece is the super abilities. These can only be activated every few minutes but are intended to cause panic among your enemies when triggered. Depending on the class, you also have access to flying swords, a Captain America-style shield, or a bubble that protects you from enemy projectiles.
New are the class abilities. The Titan has a barrier, the Warlock has a healing or empowering Rift, and the Hunter can perform useful evasive maneuvers.
To truly grasp the full spectrum, it’s advisable to try each class at least once. Here we present each one in detail:
If you want to shoot aliens in the face, you need the right equipment for it. The quality of the gear is typically categorized into the colors White (normal), Green (unusual), Blue (rare), Purple (legendary), and Yellow (exotic). Typical for Destiny is that you may only use one exotic armor piece and one exotic weapon. So, the choice of equipment must be well thought out.
You have access to three weapon slots: kinetic, energy, and power weapons.
In the kinetic and energy slots, you can hunt aliens with the following weapons:
Auto rifles: Effective at medium range; just hold the trigger and plow through the hordes of monsters.
Pulse rifles: Fire bursts of 3 rounds. Effective at medium range.
Scout rifles: Single-shot weapons with high damage potential. Particularly recommended at long range.
Hand cannons: Strong at close and medium range. Critical hits deal massive damage.
Sidearms: Rapid-firing weapon effective only at very close range. The “panic weapon” when nothing else works.
Submachine guns: Automatically firing guns with high damage output – when you can control the weapon. Usable only at close range.
Kinetic weapons deal higher base damage than energy weapons, but energy weapons have advantages against enemy shields and in PvP against Guardians with an active super. Read all about this weapon system in Destiny 2 here.
Power weapons include the heaviest artillery in the Destiny universe. There’s something for every preferred range:
Rocket launchers: Self-explanatory. Pull the trigger once and enjoy the fireworks.
Shotguns: Absolutely deadly at close range. Shotguns can even take down elite enemies with little ammunition.
Fusion rifles: Fusion rifles must be charged but unleash their destructive potential after a short time. They are particularly effective at short to medium range.
Grenade launchers: A new weapon category for Destiny 2. Careful aiming is rewarded.
Sniper rifles: Even the snipers among you will get their money’s worth. Very strong at long range, even more effective with critical hits.
Swords: The popular swords from Destiny 1 make a return. Particularly the exotic ones are known as boss killers.
So your Guardian doesn’t have to run around naked, there are armor pieces that are nice to look at and that grant bonuses to the stats Recovery (how quickly you regenerate your health), Resilience (how much damage you can take), and Mobility (how quickly you can move). You can equip a helmet, gloves, a chest piece, and boots. There is also a class-specific item and an equippable Ghost shell.
Throughout the story, you will find better gear that makes your Guardian stronger and increases bonuses to the stats.
The Story
The story of Destiny felt unfinished and fragmented. Characters like the Exo Stranger, famous for her line “I don’t have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain”, appeared as quickly as they disappeared.
That Destiny has a thrilling and multifaceted background story is proven by the Grimoire cards, which could be found in the game and read on Bungie.net. One can argue extensively about the method of consuming this story, but not about its content. Bungie has created a highly complex universe filled with countless stories and characters.
For Destiny 2, the same thrilling universe is offered to us. Thanks to the experiences Bungie gained from the predecessor and the feedback from fans, the story will be much more coherent and visually impressive, including more than 50 cutscenes. You will always know why you are doing what you do and why you are being sent on this mission.
What awaits you in PvE, battling against the aliens, we have already presented in detail in our PvE guide. In essence, it’s about taking down nasty aliens, whether in the campaign, cooperative strikes with up to three Guardians, or the hardest content, the raids with up to six Guardians.
Additionally, there is a lot to do in the open world at various locations. Adventures, treasure maps, and the so-called Lost Sectors, to name just a few.
The Multiplayer Mode – PvP
Sometimes a bigger threat than the computer opponents are the other Guardians themselves. Step into the Crucible against human players to earn loot and honor. Destiny 2 will feature quick play modes as well as competitive modes.
The King’s discipline represents the Trials of the Nine – a weekly PvP event where you can earn the most loot with 7 consecutive victories.
Additionally, there is the monthly PvP event Iron Banner, where you can earn special weapons and armor pieces.
Clans in Destiny play a significant role in player interaction. Players can form a community, a clan, and share adventures together.
Previously, clans were just a group on Bungie’s website bungie.net. These functionalities are now more integrated into the game itself.
In Destiny 2, it is significantly more beneficial to be an active member of a clan. Clan members receive rewards for completing activities with other colleagues from the same clan.
Destiny 2 technically leaves nothing to be desired – as long as you have the necessary hardware. 4K, HDR support, SLI support – everything that is currently in vogue is offered in the game on PC. Furthermore, there will be no cap on the framerate.
The World of Warcraft – launched in 2004, captivated countless players. Some left, others came; the magic seems unbroken even to this day. I myself am a sheep from the first hour. For years I played through Azeroth. But as is often the case in life, the charm eventually faded but never completely disappeared. WoW became my on-off relationship. As an introduction as a writing force at Mein MMO, I want to share my personal story with WoW here.
I made my first steps in 2004 as a male Orc. I almost felt the dust under my bare, callused feet as I guided the pixelated avatar through the wasteland. It was a game like none before it, and I marveled at every newly appearing bush on the virtual horizon. No matter how bleak the starting area of the Orcs may be, it seemed to me like a dream gaming paradise!
The world seemed so limitless, so endless! I jumped off the cliff into the sea, wanting to challenge the vastness of the world. But even the sea was no boundary. I could swim, almost as far as I wanted. Well. At least as far as the crab let me, which killed me with just one swipe after no more than ten swimming strokes.
Dammit, that was awesome! I had never experienced anything like that before! Of course, I knew games like Gothic and even old classics like Might&Magic VI from 1998 already showed a never-ending world. But WoW was different. No loading screens between the individual zones, just a vast, open land full of unlimited possibilities.
Maybe this is how Europeans felt upon discovering America. In a pink, plush version of reality, without the slaughtering of Indians and without various diseases at least.
For months I enjoyed the game alone. I discovered worlds, fought my way through seemingly impenetrable jungles and through incredibly dangerous dungeons and temples. I finally found my first guild rather fittingly on Valentine’s Day 2006, and even then it was love at first sight. The name “The Dark Alliance” already suggests it: I had long switched to the Alliance. By now, I was running around as a spitting Human Warrior.
Farewell, Vanilla…
I will probably cry for a long time over WoW Vanilla. Back then, the dungeons were still difficult, you had to work as a team, come up with your own tactics. Everything seemed more complicated to me even after some playtime than it is today. I took my first WoW break after a few years, after Wrath of the Lich King. WoW had long become too simple for me. You just ran through the instances. Damage, damage, damage! Button smashing deluxe, without sense or reason.
But I played the Terminator and came back. “The guild is just so great!” I thought, or: “Well, I can take a look again, who knows? Maybe it has changed?” The game repeated itself often. My hopes were disappointed time and again. “It’s not you, it’s me!“
By now we are like an old married couple. Minus the conversations, of course. No, I’m not that crazy yet. But again and again, I log into my account hoping. Mostly after a new addon or when someone raves about the game to me. Then I bounce around Kalimdor as a panda for a few days, swing myself as a demon hunter through the lands, or, as recently, delightedly watch the cutscenes about the Legion. Then for a few days, I am 19 again and stare with heart sparkling eyes at the screen and at the little avatar. Azeroth is limitless for this moment again.
Until I again rub against the familiar game mechanics and disappointingly throw in the towel. But maybe the next addon will be better? Maybe the next BlizzCon will reel me in again with some fantastic announcements? And then, hopefully, also get me excited again for the long term …
BlizzCon, excite me!
In the last few days there have already been some very exciting finds hinting at news regarding WoW. Not only are there four new entries in the list of races, but also Patch 8.0.0, so a new game version, was briefly released. Will a new addon along with new races be presented at Blizzcon?
My personal dreams for BlizzCon:
The announcement of a new addon in general. Along with a cinematic trailer and phenomenally performed announcement
Completely new races. Get away with cuddle animals – excuse me: Pandaren – and subcategories of already playable races! I would be so incredibly thrilled if you could play Naga or Murlocs! In general: Naga! I want Naga!
A new world. In connection with the Naga, it could also be arranged that the entire sea magically disappears and thus the Naga must come ashore. Then there would be a multitude of unknown places, formerly sunken temples and cities andandand …
Again an updated graphics. Yes, I admit I am a visual person.
But I also like to be surprised.
What do you wish for from BlizzCon regarding World of Warcraft? And how is your relationship with WoW? I am looking forward to your opinions, experiences, and wishes!

At 12 years old, is one still too young to enter eSports? Well, not at Hearthstone. An “old” Magic pro wants to find out.
One has probably heard the saying “Practice makes perfect” from parents when they were forced into some “great” hobby they had no interest in as a child. However, if the hobby can lead to big winnings and is also a lot of fun because it involves video games, then most of us would have jumped right in.
At Dreamhack in Denver, a Hearthstone tournament took place, showcasing some newcomers among the players. Under the self-ironic name MTGKid, Quinn Kiefer quickly made a name for himself and became a frequent topic among commentators.
At just 12 years old, he is likely one of the youngest players to participate in professional tournaments. And things went excellently for Quinn. With 7 wins and only 2 losses, he secured his spot in the playoffs.

But that’s where his journey ended, as his opponent David Steinberg, also known as Shoop, showed no mercy and drew almost perfectly.
For MTGKid’s opponents, this is quite a dilemma. After all, who wants to eliminate a child from the competition – or be defeated by one?
Nevertheless, this is likely not the last time we will hear from MTGKid.
The Kiefer family has a great passion for card games. Like his brothers Lukas and Jack, Quinn has already achieved some successes, as they regularly play together and compete in Magic: The Gathering tournaments (hence the name “MTGKid”).

Particularly, the talent is perhaps not surprising given the background. Those who understand Magic in all its facets should find it easy to transition to Hearthstone. And it is indeed nice to see that even very young players can achieve real success in Hearthstone when they put in the effort. This makes Hearthstone even more of a family game than it already was.
A new book for World of Warcraft provides fresh hints about the next expansion – and perhaps the release date.
Meanwhile, a certain rhythm has been established for the release of new expansions for World of Warcraft. Whenever an expansion is nearing its end, Blizzard commissions an author to weave the story of the current game with the next expansion.
It seems that this is the case again. Because on Amazon, the book “Before the Storm (World of Warcraft)” by Christie Golden has appeared, which is set to be released on May 15, 2018. The description is, loosely translated, as follows:
“After the events of ‘Shadows of Argus’, World of Warcraft: Before the Storm tells the story of what awaits the heroes of the Horde and Alliance once the battle against the demonic Burning Legion has come to an end.”
At least the title “Before the Storm” suggests that the expansion has something to do with the sea – and therefore, Kul Tiras could indeed be the next travel destination. However, this is just speculation, and it will likely take until BlizzCon in 2 weeks for us to get more precise information.
Golden is now permanently writing for Blizzard
The author Christie Golden recently announced that she is now permanently employed by Blizzard. This likely means that we will experience new stories from the Warcraft universe in book form much more frequently in the future.

Some fans even believe they can derive the release date of the next expansion from this. The book about Illidan was released about 4 months before the launch of the Legion expansion. For “Before the Storm”, this timeframe would mean that the next expansion would arrive in September 2018, thus technically still falling in summer.
After a strong launch month in September, hard times have begun for Destiny 2 in October. A change in direction is necessary, but when can one expect it? Not anytime soon, believes our author Schuhmann.
About the time October arrived, the honeymoon period with Destiny 2 ended. While most players were still satisfied with Destiny 2 at the end of September, spending hours on the shooter and raving about the innovations, cracks began to appear in the perfect world from October onward.
Crises mood in Destiny 2 – these 5 reasons explain the crisis
5 reasons for the crisis mood can be quickly found:
Many conveniences from Destiny 1 did not make it over to Destiny 2. The game has made some strange regressions, lacking beloved comfort features. No one can explain this.
Moreover, there is a lack of noticeable developments – most improvements were limited to the story and leveling phase. For most, that was over in October.
Especially the lack of endgame is heavily criticized. After Bungie removed the “random rolls” on items for balance reasons, players lack motivation to repeat the existing game content. Raids, prestige raids, and Iron Banner rarely entice with attractive rewards. The loot hunger that used to drive Destiny players has vanished in Destiny 2.
As a first step, Bungie recognized and admitted the problems in mid-October.
In a letter to the community dated October 12, it was stated that they had noticed the feedback regarding the endgame and said: “These discussions are also taking place at our studio. We are listening, but we need time to respond.”
Furthermore, Game Director Luke Smith mentioned that they have internal ideas on how to make the endgame more appealing. Here, Bungie identified problems: apparently, many Destiny 2 buyers play more than 60 hours and reach the game but have nothing to do.
Luke Smith had already announced months ago that they have ideas on how to make “duplicate items” more appealing – now that random perks and thus the search for the God Roll have disappeared from Destiny.
Smith’s message was also: We see the problems, we are re-evaluating priorities, and this takes time.
Apparently, Bungie agrees: We need to change the direction of Destiny 2. We need to do something different than we originally planned.
But the schedule is already set
Those hoping for “soon” answers are likely disappointed. The statement that “time is needed” should be taken seriously.
Although Bungie had the opportunity to speak at TwitchCon 2017 over the weekend, it was clear that the plans for 2017 have long been set. And they are following this predetermined schedule, having no other choice.

Next, the PC launch will happen – on October 24 it will take place. This is important for Bungie to reach new players.
For November, three live streams are announced. However, it did not sound at TwitchCon as if Bungie is talking about their new plans or the negative player feedback, but rather sticking to the “old plans.” One should not expect heated debates – but rather these are probably pre-scheduled dates where Bungie will present the first DLC and the season change.
New content then with seasons and DLC in winter 2017
The new content is expected to arrive as a double pack in winter 2017 – likely in December. But even then, everything will go “according to plan.
The season change is a kind of ritualized, free content update as it was in Destiny 1. Every 3 months, they will adjust the weapon balance, bring new items, and change the inventory of the cash shop. No major gameplay mechanical changes are to be expected. This is only a new name for the sandbox updates that also occurred in Destiny 1. This sounds somewhat more extensive than before, but it’s nothing wild.
Also, the content of DLC 1 “Curse of Osiris” seems to have been clear for a long time. This will revolve around Mercury and the NPC Osiris. Compared to the Destiny 1 DLCs, one can expect a new zone here. Whether “Curse of Osiris” will bring about changes to the “Destiny formula” remains questionable.
When can Bungie implement the changes?
If the last 3 years at Bungie have taught us anything, then:
Bungie does respond to feedback – has adjusted the loot system
but takes relatively long – the winter date never brought significant changes to the formula, they always came in April/May or with the full release in September.
A glimmer of hope is that Luke Smith has already spoken before the release about an idea of how Bungie wants to compensate for the “missing random rolls.” One can only hope that this idea is well advanced and finds its way with the first DLC for Destiny 2.
Hopefully, Smith did not mean the “mods,” but really has a good idea up his sleeve.
A sign of how difficult it is for Bungie to change the path once set and process feedback.
With the PC launch now and fixed content plans, it could be even harder for Destiny 2 to deviate from the planned path than it was for Destiny 1.
One can be curious whether the streams in November will indeed show signs of a change in direction. Otherwise, these structural changes might be postponed to spring 2018.
More about the new items coming with the season change to Destiny 2:
The dungeons in MU Legend are intended for casual gamers and dungeon crawlers. Monster slaying, myth mode, and great challenges await you.
In a few days, the open beta test of MU Legend will start. On November 7th, it begins, and you can embark on your MU adventure. As preparation for the ARPG, the team has now released dungeon guides. This makes it clear that there is much to experience in the instances. The mythic mode gives you, for example, the chance for powerful items, but is only available for a limited time. Treasure hunts and group expeditions are also supposed to provide fun in the dungeons.
Dungeon Guide: Casuals and dungeon crawlers should have fun
Soon the ARPG MU Legend will enter the open beta phase and aims to attract as many curious players as possible who at least want to take a look into the game. The action MMO entices with hack and slay elements and MMO content like dungeons.
At the start of the OBT on November 7th, a large portion of the world map will be available to the players, which they will then explore. While you are in the areas of Enova, Duelden, Litenberg, and Ordhor, your levels and game progress will increase. In future player expansions, additional areas will be unlocked for free.
To ensure that everything goes smoothly while playing, the MU Legend team has published guides. Among other things, the new dungeon guide is included, which explains the core mechanics. Dennis Czybulka, COO of Webzen Dublin, explains: Casual players and “dungeon crawlers” will be pleased with the dungeon guide.
In the guide, the team discusses the various dungeon categories. Field dungeons, for example, are divided into the categories Normal, Epic, and Rift. Through treasure hunts, myth mode, great challenges, dungeon expeditions, and leveling, they aim to meet the various expectations of players.
A Rift is a randomly selected dungeon where monsters await you that are tailored to your level. There are even leaderboards there.
In the task hall, you gain access to special dungeons with unique rewards. There is a daily entry limit for the five special dungeons “Endless Tower”, “Distorted Magic Jewel Mine”, “Blood Castle”, “Luerys Secret Chamber”, and “Fabric’s Garden”.
The most famous dungeons like Blood Castle, Endless Tower, and Lupa’s Labyrinth have their own exclusive guides. Especially for group leaders, it’s worth taking a look at the team’s explanations, as this way you can successfully guide your group through the instance.
Could LawBreakers succeed as a F2P game? The boss does not rule out this move, but does not want to turn the game into Candy Crush.
The low-gravity shooter “LawBreakers” is currently struggling. The beta of the game attracted many gamers, but when the game transitioned to the full version for €30, many jumped ship. Recently, the concurrent players of the shooter on PC could be counted on two hands.
In an interview, boss Cliff Bleszinski explains that the idea of a free-to-play model is not off the table yet.
In the future, a team deathmatch mode and a ranked mode are supposed to bring more variety to the game. But what if these changes do not bring the desired increase in players? In an interview with GameSpot, Bleszinski talks about a possible free-to-play future. As many players have already suspected, this topic is not off the table.
Before the release, there were big news that LawBreakers would transition from a F2P title to a premium product. Could it now become a free product again?
Bleszinski explains that he does not want to use “Candy Crush” tactics because he wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. (The app Candy Crush funds itself, among other things, through in-app offers where players can buy new lives to continue playing.)
Bleszinski wonders, “Should LawBreakers have launched as free-to-play? Maybe. Would we possibly experiment with that in the future? I can’t rule it out. But I really don’t want to go into the sleazy free-to-play. Even though I want to keep the game afloat.”
Nevertheless, he does not want to rule out the F2P model. He points out that they are considering releasing LawBreakers in Asia. There, a F2P release would be almost a must. Subsequently, it might also make sense to apply this model in the USA, he says. “But I don’t want to see any weapon renting in the game for the time being.”
Mein-MMO says: Bleszinski is clearly skeptical of the funding tactics of many free-to-play games. Somehow, the team needs to slowly find a way to bring more players on board while still making money.
