However, the release of the TOTY cards in FUT 18 is causing confusion. The FIFA has altered the schedule, so the award for the best footballers of the year 2017 takes place on October 23, 2017, and not in January 2018.

The speculation about a possible October release was fueled by the official German Facebook page “EA Sports FIFA Ultimate Team (German)“: The responsible editor “Niko” wrote that the TOTY will be released on 23.10. This date is the “pre-release”. The official release will be on 27.10.
Shortly thereafter, he clarified this statement, explaining that it was his personal assessment. These were not official statements. In the meantime, all these comments have been deleted, but quick Reddit users were able to capture them in screenshots.
Colleagues from GameStar inquired with EA Sports to end the speculation about the release date. They received the answer that the Team of the Year in FUT 18 will not be released on October 23. It is incorrect information on Facebook.
Today, on October 23, the official response from EA Sports came via Twitter. The “FUT 18 Team of the Year” definitely will not appear in October. More information will follow in the future.
When the specific TOTY release will be is still unclear. The developers may stick to the January date.
Because it would be quite unfavorable to release the best player cards in FUT 18 just a month after the official “FIFA 18” launch. This would take away the excitement and motivation from FUT 18.
