What is happening today in Destiny 2? Today, on October 22, with the Weekly Reset, new content of Season 8 is starting. From 7:00 PM German time, Guardians will be able to tackle the new exotic quest “Make bows, not war”, which ultimately leads them to a new weapon Exotic – the bow Leviathan’s Breath.

So that you can immediately dive into the new content well prepared, we have summarized everything that is known so far about the new exotic weapon and its quest.

Who can earn the new bow? The roadmap for Season 8 of Destiny 2 marks the new quest for the exotic bow with the Season 8 symbol. You will need the Season Pass for the Season of the Undying. This can be purchased separately, but is included with Shadowkeep.

The “Make bows, not war” quest – How to get the Leviathan’s Breath

What is the quest “Make bows, not war” about? In the new quest, the goal is essentially to access the hidden weapon workshop of Banshee-44, the gunsmith in the Tower, and get the new weapon there. However, this turns out to be more difficult than it sounds.

This is how the quest starts: Although the quest goes live this evening, the individual steps are already known through data mining.

The new exotic quest starts with the gunsmith Banshee-44 in the Tower. He wants to give you a weapon that he stores in his workshop. However, Banshee does not reveal where exactly this workshop is located.

However, the deceased leader of the Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6, apparently knew something about it. So you should first check the Tower hangar, as Cayde spent a lot of time there.

This is how the first quest step “Back entrance” goes: The quest itself is relatively simple, but the first step poses some problems for Guardians. There is no explanation of where exactly to search for the entrance. Additionally, there are no quest markers to guide you.

What do you have to do then? After that, you will need to work through a series of tasks. The quest sends you into Gambit matches or strikes, has you kill various enemies with bows or complete a special version of the strike “Waffenhändler”.

Your quest reward – The bow Leviathan’s Breath

If you complete all the quest steps in the end, you can finally retrieve the bow from the locked display case in Banshee’s workshop and call it your own. But what can the exotic bow actually do?

This is what makes the new Exo bow special: The combat bow Leviathan’s Breath is a novelty in Destiny 2, as it is the first bow that is classified as a heavy weapon in the power slot. Consequently, this weapon requires heavy ammunition (purple).

This is what defines Leviathan’s Breath: The bow deals Void damage and has a long draw time of 1328. The bow is also characterized by the perks Big Game Hunter and Leviathan’s Sigh.

• With Big Game Hunter, the bow shoots an extra heavy bolt that knocks back unshielded enemies. Additionally, the bow is strong against Unstoppable Champions.
• With Leviathan’s Sigh, a fully drawn bolt creates a large concussive explosion that pushes enemies back.

Although it remains to be seen how strong the new weapon plays and where it can shine, since one of the perks specifically targets Unstoppable Champions, at least one of the application areas is likely to be in the new Nightfall: The Ordeal where you encounter this new enemy type more frequently.

Do you want to get the best loot in Destiny 2 from the new Nightfall mode “Dusk: The Trial by Fire”? You should aim for the Nightfall on Platinum difficulty. What that means and what you need to pay attention to is explained here.

What is the new Nightfall all about? With Shadowkeep, in addition to the regular Nightfall, the new format “Dusk: The Trial by Fire” was introduced. There, you can collect more and better loot in the Dusk Strike as the difficulty level increases.

The Trial by Fire is one of the few sources for certain materials or high-tier gear that can push you above the power level of 950.

This is how Dusk: The Trial by Fire works: In the Trial by Fire, you can tackle a weekly rotating Nightfall Strike at 4 total difficulty levels:

• Master: recommended power level 750, 1 modifier
• Hero: recommended power level 920, 4 modifiers
• Legend: recommended power level 950, 6 modifiers
• Grandmaster: recommended power level 980, 8 modifiers

As the difficulty level increases, the number of modifiers also increases, but the loot gets better. Unfortunately, the enemies also become tougher. You earn more points per enemy accordingly.

Additionally, there are new special enemies – the Champions. These foes are particularly tough, have special abilities, and can deal significant damage:

• The Trial by Fire levels Master and Hero feature automated matchmaking.
• In Legend and Grandmaster, you still rely on a pre-made fireteam.

What is Platinum anyway? The difficulty levels determine the quantity and type of loot you can receive there. However, there are also further tiers within the Nightfall, such as Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. These are based on your performance – but not on points, rather on your performance against the Champions.

These tiers determine your chance for loot based on the chosen difficulty level – thus the drop probability.

Why should you aim for Platinum? If you achieve a Platinum completion, you have the best chances for the best loot – including Exotics.

You can also find loot in the other tiers, but rewards are significantly less impressive and with lower probability than in Platinum.

By the way, at 100,000 points, there is guaranteed high-tier gear in the Trial by Fire.

This is what you should keep in mind if you want the best loot in the Trial by Fire:

• Play preferably on Legend or Grandmaster
• You earn points by defeating enemies
• You have a 20-minute timer. If it runs out, your points decrease. If you drop below 100,000, forget about the high-tier reward – even if you were over 100k during the match.
• The more of the new Champion enemies you kill, the better your final rewards will be.
• There are 3 types of Champions: Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload. Be sure to use appropriate artifact mods against these foes.

• Barrier Champions have an additional Overshield that can only be broken with appropriate artifact mods (and Eriana’s Vow). Unstoppable foes have significantly more health and take less damage per shot. Overload Champions are very aggressive, pursue the Guardians, and can essentially only be stopped with abilities or artifact mods that disrupt enemies.
• What many do not know: While Platinum gives you the best chances for the best rewards, ALL Champions in a Trial by Fire Nightfall must be killed.
• If you skip any or if your teammates rush too far ahead causing Champions to possibly despawn, your chances for the best loot decrease and you can forget about Platinum.
• If you do not kill all Champions, you will still get loot, but of a lower quality. Because the chances of the best items like Ascendant Shards and Exotics decrease without Platinum.

So keep an eye on the timer, the right mods for the respective Champions, as well as the Champions themselves. Then, nothing should stand between you and the Trial by Fire on Platinum with corresponding loot (aside from the required power level).

We present you a Destiny 2 loadout that can really help you dominate in PvP. What weapons you need for it and where to get them, you can read here.

This loadout is seen more and more often: Especially with the first Iron Banner of Season 8, many Guardians are currently heading into PvP. In the Crucible – Destiny’s melting pot for PvP activities – they encounter a setup that seems to be increasingly dominant:

• The grenade launcher Mountaintop in the primary slot
• The submachine gun Recluse in the energy slot
• As well as the Hammerhead machine gun or the exotic rocket launcher Truth

These weapons are currently popular in PvP

This is what the Mountaintop can do: The legendary grenade launcher in the kinetic slot is one of the top weapons of Destiny 2 and requires special ammunition. It must be reloaded after every shot. The weapon belongs to the “Lightweight Frame” family, giving you intrinsic handling and a faster movement speed.

Thanks to the perk “Micro-Missile,” the weapon does not fire in a ballistic curve like all other grenade launchers, but in a straight line – similar to a rocket launcher. With a direct hit, the weapon kills instantly and essentially behaves like a kind of sniper.

This is what the Recluse can do: The legendary submachine gun is used in the special slot and fires with the Void element. This top weapon also belongs to the Lightweight Frame family and has a high rate of fire of 900.

Its special perk is called “Weapon Mastery” and increases the weapon’s damage for 5 seconds, comparable to perks like Kill Clip. The special thing about the Recluse is that every weapon kill activates “Weapon Mastery.” So you have a few seconds to switch to the now enhanced Recluse or you can continue to spray with increased damage right after a kill.

This power weapon should you use: When choosing for the heavy slot, you are a bit more flexible. Currently, the legendary machine gun Hammerhead and the exotic rocket launcher Truth are becoming dominant. But the Wardcliff Coil, also an exotic rocket launcher, is also frequently used.

How to get the powerful weapons

The weapons are now easier to acquire: Both the Mountaintop and the Recluse are top weapons. Both guns are obtainable through PvP quests from Lord Shaxx. During the quest line, you must enter the competitive playlist and complete additional specific tasks.

Recently, Bungie has worked on the quest structure and the competitive mode. The result is that both weapons are significantly easier to acquire, and every Guardian now has a fair chance at them.

• How to get the Mountaintop
• how to get the Recluse

This is how you play the loadout: The Mountaintop is dangerous at any range and is a one-shot kill on a direct hit. With its high projectile speed and “Micro-Missile,” you can even operate at sniper range with some practice.

After a kill, switch to the Recluse and benefit from the increased damage from “Weapon Mastery.” Thanks to the high handling of both weapons, the quick switch is no problem. If you don’t get a kill, you can usually finish off the weakened enemy with the Recluse.

For a short time, you are like an axe in the woods with your SMG, mowing down anyone who dares to come close. After each defeated Guardian, the “Weapon Mastery” ability is extended, chaining kill to kill. In close combat, the Recluse is also very strong even without a damage buff.

If you manage to pick up power ammunition, you become even more dangerous. With the precise machine gun Hammerhead, you have about 50 shots and are dominant at almost any distance.

The rocket launcher Truth almost guarantees a kill thanks to its proximity explosion and highly aggressive targeting. The Wardcliff Coil can obliterate entire groups of enemy Guardians. In all three cases, you switch back to your primary weapon and are almost unstoppable.

We recommend every Guardian to at least try out this PvP setup if you have the opportunity. If you are still missing weapons for the loadout, that shouldn’t be a long obstacle anymore – now is the time to take on the quests. They are essentially feasible for everyone now – even for average players.
