Project Odin, a new mobile MMORPG, aims to impress players with realistic and immersive gameplay. The game features strong graphics that would even impress on PC.
What is Project Odin? The mobile MMORPG Project Odin takes place in a world of Norse mythology featuring well-known characters like Odin, Freyja, and Thor. The tree Yggdrasil is also visible in a video.
To ensure impressive graphics, the developers utilize Unreal Engine 4, which Blade&Soul is also about to receive. According to the announcement, it will be the first mobile game to use “3D scanning and motion capture for realistic and immersive” gameplay.
Too Good to Be a Mobile MMORPG?
What can we see so far from the game? In addition to some screenshots, there is also an official teaser trailer for Project Odin. It shows a character running through a forest landscape and later up a mountain slope.
Notably, the beautiful graphics, realistic animals, and sounds in the trailer create a genuine feeling of being placed in a real yet harsh environment. It slightly reminds one of the successful game Skyrim. The first glimpses are certainly convincing.
However, the trailer reveals nothing about the gameplay content of Project Odin. This is also due to the fact that it is still early in development.

Who is developing the game? Project Odin is being developed by Lionheart Studio, a new Korean game studio. The studio was founded by Kim Jae Young, the developer behind the successful mobile game “Blade: Sword of Elysion”, in May 2019.
The studio was supported with funding from Kakao Games, the publisher of PUBG and Black Desert Online, and WeMade, the developer of the “Legend of Mir” series, with a total of 9 million USD.
The release of Project Odin in Korea is already planned for 2020. Whether and when it will come to the West is currently unknown.
The streaming platform Twitch has dedicated a clip to the streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek (25) to honor him. He is leaving the platform for Mixer. It is evident that Twitch highlights its great features: The message is that on Twitch, small streamers can become stars and benefit greatly.

What can be seen? The trailer shows Madam Lazul, one of the leaders of the Ü.B.E.L. League. Epic files the next lawsuit! This time they are targeting companies that sell merchandise from Fortnite without a license.

What is the reason for these ratings? It is not technical issues or lack of content that are to blame for this review bombing. Aspects such as controls, gameplay, sound, multiplayer, and graphics are actually well-received by most users – aside from some technical problems, there is hardly anything to criticize regarding gameplay or content.
However, what is responsible for the majority of negative reviews is a controversial discussion surrounding the portrayal of Russia as the enemy within the single-player campaign.
Many consider the depicted image of Russia to be overly exaggerated, sometimes even labeling it as Russophobia or pure propaganda.
The game seems to do everything to portray Russia in a bad light – to an extent that has never been seen before, according to the prevailing sentiment of most negative reviews.

However, the Highway of Death actually stands for controversial attacks by US forces and their Western allies during the Gulf War (1991). The US-led coalition bombed Iraqi units that were retreating along the highway, destroying thousands of vehicles that were piled up along the highway. There are also reports that among them were 350 unarmed Iraqi soldiers who were killed by US forces.
Many players, however, believe that it is just a game with a fictional setting and that it therefore has no relation to reality. And even this, as far as Russia is concerned, would not necessarily look any different.
Moreover, in this context, other nations, such as the Germans, often serve as a clichéd enemy image. Therefore, many do not understand the whole fuss and find it exaggerated.
Furthermore, there are indeed allied Russians in the new Modern Warfare, so not all are automatically portrayed as bad. The barbaric troops would belong to a rogue general and do not represent Russia as a whole.
Others, however, emphasize that Modern Warfare has gone too far this time. Previously, there was the enemy image of Russia – but never as extreme, exaggerated, and poorly resolved as this time.
It feels almost like a political campaign and brings the complete opposite of what the developers promised with Modern Warfare – a realistic depiction of war, without black and white, but with many shades of gray. They wanted to shed as authentic a light as possible on our world as we currently live in, along with its conflicts – even if in a fictional work.
Many players believe that this has not really succeeded and leaves the game in an unfortunate light.
