In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare a new update is available. It was released this evening, on Tuesday, November 19, and once again addresses a controversial weapon.
What’s included in the update: The patch notes for the new update are rather small. The following changes are coming:
The update is already online (since around 7:30 PM German time) and is available for download on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. It is an internal update. A large download is not necessary.
Update from November 19 – Patch Notes in German
Buff for the AUG: The submachine gun AUG was already strong before and is a popular alternative to the strongest submachine gun MP5. The update has given it buffs in two areas:
Increased damage at close range
Increased damage at medium range
The AUG in action.
However, its damage multiplier to the chest has also been reduced. Overall, it should have become stronger.
Significant reduction of the damage range achievable through attachments
Small increase in hip-fire spread
Reduction of effective hip-fire damage
With the adjustments, the 725 should no longer be convertible into an effective sniper rifle. It also loses some of its edge at close range, which could save many opponents from frustration.
Additionally, bugs that caused the constant display of loadouts in Ground War and disrupted the UI have been fixed. Exploits have been removed and bugs in other modes have been corrected. The complete patch notes in English can be found on reddit.
A study by the University of Chichester examined the stress levels of eSports professionals. It revealed that these professional athletes are on par with others.
What is the result of the study? The study looked at 51 different stress factors among professional eSports players during a major event. Among these were factors such as communication issues and performances in front of an audience.
It turned out that the stress levels of the eSports players are as significant as those of professional athletes in football or rugby. Players who competed in a tournament in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive were tested.
What is the biggest stress factor in eSports? According to the study, poor communication is one of the biggest stress factors. In difficult situations, players may react with excessive aggression or withdraw from communication. Both result in negative consequences regarding performance.
This will likely be one of the reasons why the LoL team G2 Esport was so successful at the Worlds. Even in tough moments, the players still joked around and likely relieved some stress.
What will change because of the study? The authors of the study aim to draw attention to the need to consider psychological health in eSports. Co-author Dr. Phil Birch states:
eSports has become a multimillion-dollar business that fascinates audiences worldwide, but there is little research on the psychological factors that influence gameplay.
Rams Singh, himself a successful Quake 3 player and now coach of the university’s eSports department, also finds the results important:
This study is important for the industry. We need to understand how to best support the health of our players and keep them at the highest level – just like any other professional athlete.
Discussions about eSports and sports: For years, there has been a debate about whether eSports is “real sports” or not. We also asked you. The study confirms that eSports professionals face the same stress levels but does not address other physical attributes.
The team Fnatic is one of the largest LoL teams in Europe. The jungler Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen faced criticism after his team’s exit at the League of Legends Worlds 2019. He defends himself on his Twitch stream. But shortly after, rumors arise that he will leave Fnatic.
Who is he? The Dane Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen (22) is the jungler for Fnatic. He is also a Twitch streamer with about 165,000 followers.
This is his problem: Fnatic actually had a pretty good Worlds performance. Many thought they would be eliminated in the group stage against SKT1 and RNG.
This was still a good time for Fnatic: The team managed to survive the group stage. Broxah is the second from the right.
In the quarter-finals, they faced FunPlus Phoenix, the eventual World Champions of the LoL Worlds 2019. Fnatic did not look good here. Especially the midlaner of the Chinese team, Doinb, and the jungler, Tian, dominated the series.
Broxah was said to have “searched for ganks that weren’t there” – Tian was “in his head”, were some comments on reddit.
Broxah contradicts rumor, Rekkles wants to get rid of him
This is what Broxah says: In the Twitch stream, Broxah says it is brutal to hear that fans blame him for the team’s exit. That’s just ridiculous. One cannot make someone the scapegoat.
You lose in LoL as a team – and it was a team effort to get as far as Fnatic has.
Broxah publicly defended against now being the scapegoat for Fnatic’s exit at the LoL Worlds 2019.
Recently, rumors have also surfaced that Fnatic’s star, Rekkles, wants to get rid of him. The two allegedly do not understand each other. Broxah denied this on Twitter. Everything is fine between him and Rekkles – they respect each other.
He shows a picture of the two hugging each other.

The developers of the MMORPG Lost Ark have once again confirmed that they want to bring their MMORPG to the global market. This is expected to happen in 2020 after the release in Japan.
What’s new about Lost Ark? At the major Asian gaming convention “G-Star,” the PC MMORPG Lost Ark not only won a huge number of awards but also announced some new information.
In an interview, the developers from Smilegate reiterated their aim for a “global release.” The “overseas offensive” is set to begin as soon as Lost Ark is successfully published in Japan by Neowiz. This is expected to happen at the beginning of 2020.
Additionally, Smilegate has confirmed that they are working on both a mobile and a console version of Lost Ark.
What does this mean for us? Even though the developers do not explicitly talk about a European release, the interview is still a good sign.
Lost Ark is an IP that has attracted a lot of attention from players abroad. I believe the overseas market has a lot of potential.
Cheong Ji-gl, Smilegate developer
Therefore, Smilegate is planning a full offensive for 2020 with the goal of gaining recognition internationally as a major developer. The developers are convinced this will drastically increase the company’s value.
Moreover, work is ongoing on a console version of Lost Ark. Since the gaming market in Asia is massively dominated by mobile titles, the console version should target Western players more.
Is a European release in 2020 realistic? In the past, Smilegate has taken a long time to release their MMORPG in other countries. The Russian version of Lost Ark went into open beta almost a year after the release in Korea, and the Japan launch is not yet officially confirmed.
Until now, Smilegate has only spoken about a “global release,” so we cannot say for sure which country will follow Japan. It is also possible that a North American version will be released first.
No publisher for the European release has been announced yet. Possible candidates would include both Mail.ru, which operates the Russian version of Lost Ark, as well as Neowiz, which is responsible for Japan. However, it could also be a completely different publisher that will handle the European release.
Realistically, a launch in 2020 is quite possible, but it would probably not happen before the end of the year.
What do you think? Do you expect Lost Ark to come out in 2020? Or do you believe that the developers will keep European players waiting?
In FIFA 20 some players receive Flashback cards that can be earned through SBCs. There are already four – who could be next?
These are Flashback cards: Flashback cards are player items that recall the past performances of great players. This means: A player like Piszczek, who has a rating of 81 today, receives a really strong card again. The Dortmund player, for example, received an 86-rated card that was meant to remind of old times – and is popular with teammate Manuel Akanji.
Ultimately, the Flashback cards can be unlocked through SBCs. Besides Piszczek, these Flashback cards have been available in FIFA 20 so far:
Javier Mascherano (87)
Theo Walcott (85)
Juan Mata (87)
We checked in with the community on reddit. Which Flashback cards would players like to see next?
7 players who deserve Flashback cards
These are the candidates: Only players currently included in FIFA 20 are eligible for Flashback cards. They all share the fact that they had even stronger cards in the past than they do today.
Claudio Pizarro
This is what Pizarro’s Flashback could look like: Claudio Pizarro has almost reached legendary status in the Bundesliga. The forward is still attacking at 41 years old – and in his career, he has scored an unbelievable number of goals.
Since he is still available in FIFA 20, he could receive a Flashback card that recalls old times at Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich. A strong Pizarro card would also attract many interested players in FIFA 20.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
This is what Mkhitaryan’s Flashback could look like: Currently, Mkhitaryan has a rating of 81 playing for AS Roma. However, his best time was probably at BVB. Especially in FIFA 16, Mkhitaryan collected strong cards – accordingly, his Flashback card would be inspired by the Informs from that time.
Ricardo Quaresma
This is what Quaresma’s Flashback could look like: In FIFA 20, Quaresma only has a base rating of 81. However, especially in FIFA 17 and 18, the Portuguese collected very strong special cards, which a Flashback card can be inspired by. With Flashback Quaresma, one would get a very strong offensive card on the right wing.
Mario Gomez
This is what Gomez’s Flashback could look like: Mario Gomez is now in the 2. Bundesliga with an overall rating of 76. But at his peak, Gomez was a real goal machine.
For FC Bayern, he scored countless goals and collected strong special cards in FIFA. For example, in FIFA 12. A Flashback card for the current Stuttgart player would make many teams instantly better.
Sokratis
This is what Sokratis’ Flashback could look like: Sokratis is another familiar face from the Bundesliga on this list, whom many FIFA players would like to see stronger again. His current card with a rating of 84 is also impressive.
But of course: The former Sokratis was a notch stronger. He collected particularly strong special cards, for example in FIFA 17 for Borussia Dortmund. If the Arsenal defender received a Flashback, it would likely be especially strong.
Mario Balotelli
This is what Balotelli’s Flashback could look like: For a while, it seemed that Mario Balotelli could become the next really big striker. But several scandals and many transfers derailed the striker’s career.
He mostly managed to score his goals anyway. Many will still remember that one legendary Euro goal against Germany. A really strong Balotelli Flashback card would be a very good reinforcement for Serie A teams.
Gonzalo Higuain
This is what Higuain’s Flashback could look like: For many years, Higuain was among the most dangerous forwards ever. In FIFA 20, he still has a decent rating of 85 – but only a pace of 63 now.
A Flashback card would likely boost that. At Real Madrid, Napoli, and Juventus Turin, he was a real weapon – hence his card would also be extremely dangerous. Just that it now carries the Piemonte Calcio badge.
Ideally, such cards would help to score more goals. By the way, this is supposed to be what the current update does as well:
In the past, everything was better, especially for MMORPGs. But what is worse today than it was back then? A reddit discussion on the topic “Guides and the Internet” got me thinking.
Has the Internet destroyed MMORPGs? The reddit user Crimpacc wrote a post discussing the topic “Influence of the Internet on MMORPGs”. What initially sounds a bit contradictory makes sense in the course of his argumentation.
According to Crimpacc, the creators of guides for games share some blame for his MMO frustration. Constantly seeing guides with the most effective farming methods, the best class builds, and complete solutions to difficult puzzles has completely destroyed his interest in exploring and experiencing a game world.
It also increasingly feels like playing an MMORPG is a race where only speed, distance, and skill matter. But is that really the case? Has the growth of platforms like YouTube and Twitch had such a negative impact on the genre?
Guides – The End of MMORPGs?
Crimpacc is particularly bothered by the fact that, right at the start of a new MMORPG, players tab out of the game to find the best leveling skills and grind their way through them. It feels impossible to play without a guide anymore, as everything else seems ineffective.
But how was it during my early days? Were there not also guides back then?
What was it like back then? My first MMORPG experiences were with Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars 1. Even back then, there were already isolated instances of guides. Typically, people exchanged information in forums, text chats, or directly in-game.
However, even though guides existed, they were nowhere near as well-known, widespread, and detailed as they are today. They mostly consisted of a few lines of text, and I had to work out part of the content myself. The issue of trustworthiness was also different back then.
While I roughly followed the guidelines, I still brought my own touch to my gameplay, doing a little something differently. The guide writer didn’t necessarily have to have found the perfect build, right?
What is it like today? This changed somewhat as platforms like YouTube became more well-known and especially more accessible. Even in Guild Wars 1, it became common over time to refer to templates for PvP builds and watch videos for speed clears.
In Guild Wars 2, it became almost standard by release to have videos of jumping puzzles open on a second monitor. After all, you wanted to quickly claim your achievement points and the chest at the end of the puzzles.
Nowadays, you can find videos on YouTube or detailed solutions on fan sites for all MMORPGs. No matter what question I have or what topic I’m searching for, someone has already created a guide about it.
While this does destroy the immersion of a gigantic world full of secrets on one hand, it significantly benefits players who can invest very little time in an MMORPG. They can find their way around immediately, which has become extremely important.
Changed Mentality and Target Audience
What is different in MMORPGs compared to before? If I ask myself the question of whether the Internet and guides have a negative influence on MMORPGs, I also need to look at what has changed in the games. And there has been a lot.
In my opinion, modern MMORPGs are:
Equipped with beginner-friendly tutorials that explain game content better.
Better at making all game content accessible, thanks to features like LFG or LFR.
All of this shows for me a shift in mentality as well. MMORPGs have become more beginner-friendly and suitable for the masses, and they have introduced some features to keep players engaged, such as login rewards or extra loot for achievements.
Storytelling almost like in a single-player RPG in SWTOR
So it’s not just the guides that have changed and simplified MMORPGs, but at times also the developers themselves. As a result, they have become more mass-market-friendly.
Is WoW to blame for the change in mentality? Before World of Warcraft, MMORPGs were still much rougher, emptier, and grindier. There were games where leveling was even exhausting and where there was almost no endgame. Players would have to entertain themselves with role-playing or their own challenges.
World of Warcraft itself is also a good example of the development of MMORPGs. While Classic requires much more grinding and much more cooperation with others, in Retail, many tasks can be completed independently and, above all, faster.
What is the problem with modern MMORPGs? The fact that a game like WoW could excite the masses was also due to its beginner-friendliness and coherence compared to any MMORPG before it. This made it a phenomenon that, in this genre, there likely won’t be a second occurrence.
However, players are now accustomed to a certain level of comfort due to the many simplifications, which they are no longer willing to part from. From this comfort, the desire to compare has developed, whether through speed clears, world firsts, or other crazy challenges.
The desire to optimize oneself and one’s achievements, whether to keep up or to prove something to oneself
Are the guides and the Internet to blame now? And it is exactly in these problems that guides can step in, providing solutions to both issues at once. With little time and effort, one can perfect their gameplay and achieve all set goals, which fits well as we generally have less time available than we used to.
What can be lost in the process is the actual experience of the game. Instead of simply enjoying wandering through flower meadows for hours and discovering a little Easter egg in a nook, we want to keep up with streamers or friends who may be able to invest more time in the game than we do.
Especially through streamers, who can earn a living from gaming, we get a distorted view. One feels left behind and starts to treat the MMORPG as work rather than relaxation.
In my view, Crimpacc faces this problem as well. But it’s not just the videos and guides to blame. They simply show the easy way. Whether the easy way is the right one has to be decided by each individual for themselves.
What are your thoughts on the topic of guides and the Internet? Have the many tips and tricks positively or negatively influenced your experiences in MMORPGs?

Pokémon Sword and Shield are the new classic RPG Pokémon games that have been released on the Nintendo Switch. New for the franchise are online multiplayer raids that are clearly inspired by Pokémon GO. Our editor Leyathinks the raids are brilliant and explains why.
Pokémon Sword and Shield are the new main titles in the classic Pokémon RPG series for the Nintendo Switch. They bring a new gameplay mechanic that has never been featured in classic Pokémon games before: Dynamax Raids. Those who are familiar with the raids in Pokémon GO will recognize some parallels to the raids in Sword and Shield – they are almost identical.
Small but fine differences include that raids in the mobile game are displayed with eggs over an arena, while in Sword and Shield they are indicated by a large red beam. In Pokémon GO, you play with up to 20 players, while in the console game, you can play with up to 4.
Dynamax Pokémon are huge and can only be defeated in a group
I have been playing Pokémon since I was 6 years old and haven’t skipped a generation since the first Game Boy game. The new raids are one of the best innovations that have ever come to the classic RPG games for me. As always, when a new Pokémon game comes out, I am ready from the release and dive into one of my favorite universes for a while.
With these expectations, I approached the new games: In advance, Sword and Shield faced a lot of criticism. Poké collectors have a problem with the fact that they can only use and catch 400 Pokémon in the new game, while the entire franchise with the new generation includes about 800 monsters. The graphics are not up to modern Switch standards when looking at titles like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the muddy textures disappointed some players for a full-priced title. There is even more criticism from the community, which I will not go into here.
Admittedly, I consciously turned a blind eye to these criticisms because I just wanted to dive into a new Pokémon without ruining my anticipation. So far, I have enjoyed every main installment and felt safe. Now I am glad that, for a gaming journalist, quite unprofessionally, I had my guard down.
Perhaps the previous shitstorm could at least have been mitigated if the Pokémon Company had spotlighted the nature zones and its Dyna-Raids more. They are a real centerpiece.
Pokémon Sword and Shield had to endure a lot of criticism before release
I let myself be held up by Dyna-Raids
I have now spent nearly 20 hours in the game since release (November 15) and am progressing slower than ever in a Pokémon game before. Usually, I strictly follow the story. After that comes the grind for Pokémon, hatching eggs, evolutions, and side content.
At the moment, I am spending a lot of time in the large nature zones that are located between the cities. These are vast areas where the Pokémon are freely visible and approach you for a battle. The Pokémon that roam here adapt to your progress in the game. In these nature zones, there are large nests where the gigantic Dynamax Pokémon await for the raid.
In the vast nature zones, raids are shown by a large red beam.
What I find so great about the Dyna-Raids: The challenges are a welcome change for me. I excitedly run towards every nest from which a large red beam shines – the sign that there is a raid boss here.
Especially cool is that the raids can be tackled in online multiplayer. There is matchmaking that allows 3 other trainers to join the raid. Which Pokémon they bring and how they proceed is always a surprise.
I love the feeling that real people from all over the world are sitting on the other end and fighting with me. Here, my MMO heart is taken care of, beating for the connection to other players. If you don’t have an internet connection, you can bring 3 NPCs along.
The feeling of battling a raid with other real trainers is great
My inner child is also quite excited when my Pokémon bursts at the seams, grows, glows, and sputters with Dyna-energy around its head. Little Leya would probably have experienced the first Dyna-Raid with flushed cheeks.
The victory feels good every time, as really good rewards await, which I am of course keen on. Among them is the raid boss that I can catch after a successful raid. Some of the raid Pokémon have special forms, making the joy of capturing them even greater.
So I am currently leisurely going from raid to raid in the nature zone, catching the Pokémon that jump in front of me and forgetting my actual mission: to become the best arena challenger and Pokémon master.
How tiny the trainers are next to the Dyna-Pokémon.
Why the Pokémon GO raids in Sword and Shield are a good thing
The raids in Pokémon GO have the particular strength of being an above-average social feature for a game. After all, you go out on the street and meet real people to participate in a raid. Solo play is also possible, but it is more challenging. The raids provide an incentive through rewards to face particularly strong Pokémon and offer a greater challenge.
These are the aspects that can now be integrated surprisingly well into Pokémon Sword and Shield. Already in 2017, the CEO of the Pokémon Company, Tsunehazu Ishihara, spoke about how Pokémon GO would influence the entire franchise in the future (via Gamasutra). They were surprised at the time by the success of Niantic’s mobile game which alone generated over 800 million dollars for Niantic in 2018.
In the case of Pokémon Sword and Shield, this influence is most strongly felt in the raids. This fresh breeze around the Poké-nose does the RPG good and allows for a new perspective on the DNA of the game – fighting, trading, and collecting together.
Campers are a forever topic in CoD. This is also the case in the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. But the annoying tactic can also become quite dangerous – for the campers.
This is shown in the clip: The reddit user PPerkinss posted a short clip on reddit, in which he totally surprises two campers. Campers are players who wait at one specific spot throughout the match and take out their opponents from there. On the new map Shoot House, he simply moves around to flank the enemies.
Here he stealthily approaches two campers waiting at a wall. He positions himself precisely between them, does nothing at first, and then takes out the first one. As the second one looks around, he immediately gets hit next.

PPerkinss himself is using the hated shotgun 725. However, he states that he only uses it to unlock new skins for it.
Campers in Modern
Warfare – An eternal problem
What makes campers so annoying? In Modern Warfare, it is very popular to park oneself in buildings on many maps and simply wait for opponents. This takes away a lot of dynamism from the gameplay and leads to frustration.
Players complain that they often come around corners and buildings only to get hit immediately. Even if they are careful, it doesn’t always help. Claymores like mines increase this frustration, as they were way too powerful for a long time.
Why camp at all? Campers are not necessarily notorious spoilsports. There are also good reasons to bunker down. For instance, weapons challenges for rare skins are easier to complete – which probably the two victims in the clip above were trying to do.
But even in certain larger modes like Ground War, campers are not necessarily annoying, but can even be useful. They provide cover and reconnaissance with sniper rifles. However, they also live considerably more dangerously in this mode because there are more opportunities to take them out:

EpicSC even views this as a problem of skill ratings:
If you see a shotgun in every killcam, you’re not playing smart enough and running into every opponent before securing the area. […] Maybe this is really a problem at lower MMR, but at least in higher ranks it’s kind of useless to sit in a corner with a pump shotgun because people will hear you and react quickly when checking corners.
However, there are currently bigger problems with matchmaking. The upcoming patch could already address some of the complaints:
The next chapter of Dead by Daylight has been revealed. The killer “Oni” is coming and is a samurai demon that looks really dark.
For several days now, the developers of Dead by Daylight have been revealing small teasers and hints about the next chapter. It was already clear that the killer will have a connection to the Yamaokas – the Yamaoka estate is a map in the game and Rin Yamaoka is “The Spirit,” one of the killers. The next killer has a connection to this family and is a huge samurai demon. He is “The Oni” and was revealed in the new trailer for the chapter “Cursed Legacy”.

What can be seen in the trailer? The first half of the trailer shows a wild motorcycle ride of a young Asian woman. In the middle of the road, she then dismounts to confront her pursuer. He steps out of the darkness and turns out not to be an ordinary man, but a very large being in samurai armor, before his eyes begin to glow red.
What is in the new chapter? In the last image, the contents of the next chapter are revealed:
New killer “The Oni”
New survivor: Yui Kimura
New map: Sanctum of Wrath
What are Oni? In the broadest sense, Oni is a general term in Japanese mythology. It includes ghosts and unnatural creatures up to large ogres or simply dark demons or demonic soldiers. The latter seems to be the inspiration for the Oni in Dead by Daylight, who has a rather typical samurai armor with a katana and a powerful sword.
What abilities do killers and survivors have? The abilities of the killer as well as the perks of Oni and Yui are not yet known. However, it can be expected that the PTR with the new patch will go live later this evening. Then we will also learn what the characters can do.
When will the chapter be released? The new chapter “Cursed Legacy” will be released in December. There is no more specific date yet. Usually, a release follows 2-3 weeks after the announcement, provided there are no major balancing issues.
What do you think of the new killer and the survivor? A cool expansion for Dead by Daylight? Or rather a disappointment after the “Stranger Things” chapter?
The largest LoL team in the West is Team Solo Mid (TSM). However, they have been having problems for years: Now, new help should be found for the superstar of League of Legends, Bjergsen. It looks like they are changing the bot lane.
This was the major upheaval: Team Solo Mid had been the dominant team in the USA for years – but they just couldn’t shine internationally. At the Worlds, they were eliminated early every time.
The star ADC Doublelift had to go – he vowed to destroy TSM and did so repeatedly with great joy for Team Liquid
Jungler Svenskeren left the team, he joined Cloud 9
Support Biofrost also had to leave the team, he went to Counter Logic Gaming
This allowed them to let go of the core of a nationally very successful team: TSM had won the LCS three times in a row in 2016 and 2017.
But they literally chased “TSM” into the air. It was a big risk that was supposed to ensure international success.
Doublelift – he has been on a revenge mission against TSM since 2018.
TSM gets high-profile replacement and it only gets worse
This is how it went afterwards: TSM replaced the bot lane with the European duo “Zven” and “Mithy,” who were successful in Europe and won everything with G2 Esports in 2016 and 2017. As a jungler, they picked Mike Yeung, the Rookie of the Year 2017.
But the results were disappointing. Nationally, they surrendered dominance in the USA to Team Liquid, where Doublelift thrived. They then won the LCS four times in a row.
New upheaval 2019 – help comes from Europe and the past
These are the latest rumors: According to new rumors, TSM is now looking to rebuild its bot lane:
They are allegedly looking to sign ADC Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup (via dotesports). He was the ADC for Splyce, who represented Europe at the World Championship
As support, TSM is allegedly looking to bring back Biofrost after 2 years – a trade with Counter Logic Gaming is said to be in discussions (via espn)
Furthermore, it seems that the “jungler” position is open, as TSM is apparently also looking for a replacement after significant issues arose in 2019
However, these trades are not yet finalized.
What’s behind this: TSM is known as the “club with the money.” However, the last major expenditures turned out to be mistakes. Apparently, the team wants to recover from this now.
There is a fear among fans that they are wasting the “best years” of midlaner Bjergsen. He is now already 23.
The fun in WoW Classic is currently massively diminished. Thousands of players are complaining about an addon that provides unfair advantages in PvP.
When it comes to interface addons in WoW Classic, the player base is divided into several camps. While some addons, like an imported “LFG Tool” sparked heated discussions, another addon has now generated significant controversy. Especially in PvP, this addon is so powerful that numerous players want it banned. We’re talking about “Spy”, which gives players a tactical advantage.
What is the Spy addon? This WoW addon is currently the bane of many players in Classic PvP, especially rogues and druids are complaining. The addon generates a list of all players within range. This includes all players that can be captured by the combat log – as well as players who might be behind walls or inside buildings. Furthermore, the addon warns as soon as a player in range goes into stealth.
With just one click, all players in the list can be targeted and thus easily found. Stealthed players cannot be selected, but you can still see that they are in stealth.
Due to these features, many players are calling for a ban on the addon.
Can Blizzard do something about it? That’s difficult. The Spy addon doesn’t use “super-secret” information, but simply reads the game’s chat log. So basically, it only reads what players – in theory – could also see manually. If Blizzard wanted to specifically disable the functionality of this addon, then addons might generally no longer be able to access the combat log. This, in turn, would rob hundreds of other addons of their functionality, such as “Damage Meter” or aggro addons.
Players’ opinions: The addon is actively discussed on Reddit. Here are some opinions for you.
Flexappeal says:
If you can’t see a player with your human eyes, then you shouldn’t have an addon that tells you when someone is nearby. Period. I don’t understand why this can even be considered controversial.
HunterGaming sees it a bit differently:
I use Spy because you have to be on the same level as those who use it.
I wish it could be disabled because I loved world PvP where you could do things like hide behind a tree while people had no idea you were there. But now they walk by, target you, or stop to search for you, and you have to fight battles you weren’t prepared for.
Maednezz finds the addon acceptable:
The addon simply reads the combat log and displays the information better.
However, the fact is that the “Spy” addon wasn’t as widespread back then and was used by very few. Nowadays, the mentality of many players and the spread of knowledge on the internet is quite different.
What do you think about Spy and such addons? Are they acceptable because they existed back then? Or do they completely ruin the gaming experience?
In Fortnite, the next update 11.20 is expected to improve graphics and prepare the game for the future. The patch should be released this week, although not today. We will show you what exactly changes.
What kind of update is this? The upcoming update 11.20 for Fortnite is expected to bring improvements to the graphics. Unfortunately, what else the update will bring for the battle royale mode is not yet known.
Epic has not yet announced exactly when the next update will be available. Usually, patches are released between Tuesday and Thursday. Today, the patch will likely not be released, but we hope it will be in the next few days.
The graphics and performance will improve on high-end PCs
On which platform will it be improved? The graphics are expected to improve on PCs with update 11.20.
How will the graphics be improved? Until now, Fortnite required graphics cards that are compatible with Microsoft DirectX 11. However, that is set to change, as players will have the option to play the PC version with Microsoft DirectX 12.
With DX12, the frame rate will be more stable if you have a high-end graphics card installed. This is because DX12 helps with CPU performance and allows the distribution of rendering processes across multiple cores.
In the future, Epic Games plans to support more features with DX12.
Why is this graphics improvement so important? A graphics improvement is especially important for the competitive scene. In the endgame, when many opponents are left, this can lead to FPS issues.
There can be disruptions that make the game difficult and could have a negative impact on the placement of participants. With this change, those problems could be addressed, greatly improving the future of tournaments in Fortnite.
What cannot be ruled out are lag problems when too many players build structures that take longer to load on the screen.
How do you feel about this improvement? Will you take advantage of it?
The head of Path of Exile, Chris Wilson, sees it as a good thing that Diablo 4 is coming from Blizzard. He even hopes for a collaboration with Blizzard on the season launches. Wilson believes that every player of Path of Exile will likely buy Diablo 4, and he hopes that Diablo 4 players will also develop an interest in Path of Exile.
This is the situation: We do not yet know a release date, but Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 will likely compete with each other starting around 2021:
Blizzard will invest a lot of money in Diablo 4 – This is good for Path of Exile
This is how Path of Exile sees the competition: The head of Grinding Gear Games, Chris Wilson, remains humble in an interview with PC Gamer. He says:
“Path of Exile is successful and earns good money, but we do not even remotely make Blizzard money. Diablo 3 probably earned more in its first week than our company will ever earn. A lot of people had a lot of fun with Diablo 3 – regardless of what hardcore fans and our fans think about it.”
But Wilson does not see it as an “either-or”:
“Diablo 4 looks like a full-price title, and we are free-to-play. Blizzard will spend a lot of money to promote Diablo 4, and that is great for the genre. This means that if players like Diablo 4, they can also play Path of Exile because it costs nothing.”
Wilson even hopes for some sort of collaboration with Blizzard. Because both games have leagues. These could be timed so that there is something to do in both games.
Path of Exile is designed to be played a lot at the start of a league and then switch to other games:
“We are not talking to Blizzard about season launches, but if both companies were clever, they would set it up so that the launch times work well for both player groups.”
Wilson believes that likely every player of Path of Exile will buy Diablo 4 and have fun with it. That’s great.
He hopes that many players from Diablo 4 will also try Path of Exile.
The “Rising Tide” Theory
What it’s about: Wilson advocates the “rising tide” theory, which lifts all ships: A lighthouse game brings new gamers into the genre, expands the target audience, and ultimately everyone benefits.
Many studio heads had also said this about Fortnite: It would bring many people to gaming, who would then turn to other games. This has proven to be somewhat true – many publishers struggled in the aftermath because Fortnite absorbed players.
Warframe is considered a title that has developed very well.
In Path of Exile, the market is smaller than in shooters. Path of Exile is already a popular and established game – here the theory could really hold. In Warframe, a similar effect could be observed: They actually could benefit long-term from the boom of the genre through Destiny due to good work.
Ultimately, Path of Exile has been benefiting from Diablo 3 in a certain way for years.
In FIFA 20, a new update is coming. The latest patch will primarily focus on shots and passes. Additionally, there will be bug fixes and new Game Faces.
When is the new update coming? The new Title Update 7 will also initially be available for PC. It is available now. Console players will have to wait a bit longer: It will arrive later for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Patch Notes: What’s in Title Update 7
This is the most important change: Title Update 7 will improve shots and passes, but only in certain situations.
The first change will strengthen shots from a distance of up to 15.4 meters. This means shots taken inside the penalty area. These should now be less error-prone and function more like in real life.
Shots in the penalty area will be stronger
Simple passing situations will be stronger: Additionally, passes are expected to be more accurate when you execute them in “simple” situations. For instance, when the player is not under pressure and is looking in the right direction.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting a new patch this week. Patch notes are not available yet, but the developers have hinted at what changes are coming.
Original – When will the patch be released? According to Senior Communications Manager Ashton Williams, the new patch for Modern Warfare will be released “this week.” It is expected to be available by Friday, November 22.
It is currently being tested. After that, it will likely be released.
What’s in the update? There are no concrete patch notes from Infinity Ward yet. However, developer David Mickner tweeted that three things are being worked on for the update:
Fixing issues
Improving the game
New content

New patch in Modern Warfare – What’s coming?
Improvements to Modern Warfare: The upcoming patch is expected to help make the kill feed cleaner (via Twitter). This provides more space for more important displays in the feed. Some messages will no longer appear, for instance, when players:
A discussion about “skill-based matchmaking” is currently dominating the topics in the community. There will likely be no change regarding this with the patch. However, the developers may respond to the matter.
Issues addressed: There have been frequent problems with the officer challenges in Modern Warfare. These are among the issues that the developers will likely fix directly in the patch.
What are the new contents? It is currently still unclear what new content is coming. However, some leaks are already talking about three major new contents:
However, we do not yet know if and what will be included in the upcoming patch. Some new content is likely to be released with the upcoming Battle Pass in December:
In Pokémon GO there is again a major topic of criticism. The rewards for raids have changed, which is causing a lot of discontent.
What has changed? It is about the rare candies in legendary raids. There, when you got any at all, you received 3 at once. This has now been reduced to one rare candy.
So the 3-pack of rare candies has simply been divided by three.
Fewer rare candies in raids leads to sharp criticism
This is now different. If you received 12 rare candies from a raid, you now only get 4 (4x the bundle of one rare candy).
This means for the players: You will now find it significantly harder to get the coveted candies. Leveling up legendary Pokémon will likely become trickier. Rare candies were often used for this purpose.
There are also changes here: Players report that there are now more rare candies in Level 3 and 4 raids. It seems that the bundles have been increased for these.
Level 3 raids, such as Gengar, are now more worthwhile
So if you want to have a lot of rare candies, you should focus on the smaller raids and skip the legendary raids.
How is the change received by the players? The majority is upset. The lack of communication from Niantic on this topic is also criticized. There were no statements from the developers regarding this, they simply changed it suddenly.
Here we collect the opinions of some players:
theeggman12345: “This is a terrible change and there is no justified explanation for it.”
vitamster03: “Niantic thought it was a good idea to reduce the bundles of rare candies from 3 to 1, making rare candies now three times harder to obtain.”
Tidea: “It has been 3-4 days, and Niantic has not commented on the severe rare candy nerf of Level 5 raids. We need to make some noise.”
What do you think of the changes? Can you understand the nerf or are legendary raids now less attractive to you?
Do you stick to one MMO or do you play several in parallel, depending on your mood? Let us know!
What is this about? MMO games are now as common as sand on the beach. Many of them have been around for years and have a loyal fanbase. Others have only recently hit the market and are still very fresh.
And you can invest a lot of time in many of them. However, time is a very limited resource, especially when you have to manage jobs, family, friends, and perhaps other hobbies at the same time. So we often have to decide what we want to play and how long we want to do it.
How many MMOs do you play? Even if sometimes you want to play many different MMOs, you often have to stick to a few.
Does only one MMO get your full attention and do you invest your time only in that one game? Or has the excitement faded at some point? Some players have a strong bond with their favorite MMO, while for others it can become boring after many years of continuous play.
Or do you have several MMOs that you jump between? Some MMOs have so-called “drought periods” between their content patch cycles, where activity in the game decreases. Players who have already completed the current content and have nothing to do turn to other games that they play in parallel.
However, some MMOs are specifically designed for short gaming sessions. You jump in and out of one or two quick matches. Such MMOs can be juggled fairly easily, depending on what flavor you feel like at the moment.
But how about you? How many MMOs do you play in parallel? Are you loyal to just one game or do you need more variety? How intensely do you play your MMOs? Let us know in the comments!
The Alterac Valley “Korrak’s Revenge” in World of Warcraft is the most fun that WoW: Battle for Azeroth currently has to offer. At least that’s what Cortyn thinks and spends the whole night in it.
PvP in World of Warcraft was never my strong suit. Even though I quite like the war mode and the thrill there, or had heroic moments with my fishing rod in battle, I often find PvP encounters exhausting and “not worth the effort.” PvP in World of Warcraft is usually too hectic, frustrating for me, and with the general conversation in chat, I usually get fed up after about 30 minutes and think to myself: “That’s enough for this month.”
All the more it surprises me that WoW created a PvP event for its 15th anniversary that I would describe as “nearly perfect.” Because “Korrak’s Revenge” is constantly fun and manages to be rewarding even in defeat, so that the frustration is kept in check.
What is Korrak’s Revenge? For WoW’s birthday, players can sign up for the PvP group search for the battlefield “Korrak’s Revenge.” This is a modified version of the Alterac Valley, based on the original version from Vanilla. Although it is not exactly like it used to be, many details are at least similar:
All players are downscaled to level 60.
There are extremely many strong NPCs on the map.
There are no “tickets” – a battle only ends when the enemy boss is defeated.
Quests and summons (like Ivus, Lokholar, or the ram riders) are important and can secure victory.
Additionally, there are thick rewards in the form of XP, making the battlefield perfect for leveling, because:
Daily quests grant 10% – 25% of a level-up.
Every 60 seconds, there are 2% – 3.5% experience points of the current level in the battlefield – no matter what you do.
Victory and defeat give another significant bonus on the XP, with 50% – 70% of the level easily achievable.
Summoning Ivus – one of the best moments ever.
The combination of old and new is genius: But it is precisely the mix of the “old” and the “new” WoW that creates such a strong appeal. Because where you currently only “spam one ability in the Zerg” in WoW Classic PvP, in current WoW you have more options and alternatives.
I can hardly keep the grin off my face when my “Living Bomb” explodes in the middle of 30 Horde players and spreads out, only to explode once more. Then I run (absolutely suicidal) in with Dragon’s Breath, trigger a shockwave, and end up at the spirit healer.
Was that tactically smart? Probably not. Even quite certainly not. But it’s a hell of a lot of fun, because Korrak’s Revenge is more relaxed than other battlefields. Even if you encounter one of those dreaded (and somewhat cliché) “Russian BGs,” in which you are mercilessly overrun by players from Russian servers who show coordination as if they worked on it 24/7, it isn’t frustrating.
Ivus – about 3 seconds before he creates 20 Horde corpses.
Over time too good, due to too much XP: But it is also clear that the rewards in the form of XP are “too good” to be a permanent bonus in WoW. Because then everyone would level up like this in the future and AFK players would occupy the battlefields. But as a birthday event for a limited time, it is nearly perfect. A wonderful relief and just the right thing to shorten the rather long waiting time for Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth.
As much fun as I currently have with Korrak’s Revenge, it could very well be that I will bring one or another allied race to level 120 in the coming weeks. Then I could start with a large selection of characters in Shadowlands – something I didn’t really want to do at all.
Perfect time to level: I actually wanted to level many characters only after the big level squish at the start of Shadowlands. But just for Korrak’s Revenge, the many XP, and the damn fun matches I’ve had so far, I can recommend everyone a short return to Retail. Korrak’s Revenge is fun and is the perfect time to level up dusty Twinks.
Frustration remains small, despite PvP: I’m having so much fun that even the “one clown in chat” who thinks he knows the perfect and infallible tactic and wants to admonish everyone doesn’t throw me off. That is also because currently few people react to him and most players don’t rigidly play “for victory” but really enjoy the big battles.
That Blizzard manages to make PvP not only the fastest but also the funkiest leveling method for me, I hardly ever imagined. All the more I savor the evenings and kill everything and everyone that gets in my way in the “old Alterac Valley with new abilities.” Or I get mercilessly overwhelmed.
Or how do you currently like “Korrak’s Revenge”? Are you having fun with it? Or is it just another boring BG?
On November 19, 2019, Google Stadia launches. But many cannot play. Who is affected and are there solutions? And are there differences between Premiere and Founders Edition?
When does Google Stadia launch? Google Stadia, Google’s new cloud gaming service is expected to launch tonight around 6 PM. But many players who want to play cannot.
Stadia is not delivered on time
This is why many cannot play yet: Many users are still waiting for their Stadia package, which Google has supposedly already shipped but has not yet arrived.
Moreover, it is unclear why some customers are receiving their packages later than others. The order date does not seem to be a criterion at least.
Ordered Founder’s Edition, but it will arrive well after the release for the player.
This is the problem: Mein-MMO reader Felix also commented on this in an email:
[…]As you surely know, Google Stadia launches in a week for the pre-order customers of the Founders or Premiere Edition. […] From June 3, the Founders Edition could be ordered, I ordered it on June 6. Nevertheless, the delivery is only scheduled for November 27-28. That’s almost a week after launch! Others ordered in August and are receiving their delivery several days earlier. This really frustrates me and I find it so unfair. […]
Mein-MMO reader Felix
And more buyers are affected. For instance, SchwablLoL writes on Reddit: “Ordered in Germany on June 6, 2019 and my order says delivery between November 25 and 26. Also, I can no longer cancel my order, but I hope it will be shipped today.”
Are only German players affected? No, other players are also waiting for their orders. Players in other countries worldwide are also complaining that Google Stadia is arriving late or has not been shipped at all.
Premiere and Founder’s Edition affected
Are there differences in the order versions? Both Premiere and Founder’s Edition are equally affected.
A player from the Netherlands wrote that he pre-ordered the Founder’s Edition of Stadia on June 7, with an expected delivery date between November 21 and 22, which is significantly before some Founder’s Editions.
Google is working on order issues
Payment issues: In an official Reddit post, Google already explained that there are issues with the bank or credit card for some Stadia purchases. Google promises to work on a solution.
If you have problems with your purchase or order, you should contact support directly in the Google Store.
Can I check my order? If you are not sure whether Stadia has already been shipped, you can check in your Google account under the “Orders” tab to see if Google has shipped the package.
