The beta of the new, free ARPG Magic: Legends is starting. Here on MeinMMO you will find all the info about the release, timings, and content of the beta.
When does the beta start? Today, on March 23, 2021, the beta goes live. The servers should go live at 6:00 PM, and interested players can join in.
Since this is an open beta, anyone can simply join and participate. All content will be transferred to the final game once it is released. There will be no wipe.
Where can I play the beta? At the moment, the developers are offering the beta test only on PC. You have two launchers available:
Depending on which launcher you play on, you will receive various rewards. With Arc, there is the Gaven Guardian costume, the Brawler appearance for the Ogre Mortar, and two loot and mission boosts. Players on Epic will receive a free Moorland Ranger costume, Moorland Ranger creature appearance, and two loot boosts until April 6 at 6:00 PM.

How to join the beta
If you create an account with one of the two providers above and have installed the respective launcher, you can download the Magic: Legends beta through the games tab.
Then start the game and install any possible patches. Since the game is being developed with your feedback, there may be updates and new content regularly. You will also find a registration on the official Magic: Legends website.

Content of the beta – What’s included?
These classes you can play: Magic: Legends starts with five classes that you will all be able to play in the beta. The five classes are:
- Geomancer – Uses the power of the earth to attack enemies with stone and lava attacks, and protects itself with a stone shield for medium to close distances
- Mind Mage – Fights from a distance and uses its powers to control enemies and launch magical projectiles
- Beastcaller – Strikes enemies up close with a spirit axe and summons creatures of the wilderness to fight by its side
- Priest – Is a holy fighter at medium to close range, able to heal allies or divert damage from them; often summons angels and similar beings in its decks
- Necromancer – Sacrifices the life energy of enemies and allies to strengthen its undead minions and fights at medium range
The classes themselves are only part of what defines your playstyle. In the beta, you will be able to find over 175 different cards (spells) and over 170 equipment items to build your build.
You build decks from the cards, which represent your actual “class” and determine how you fight. Four cards from the possible twelve in a deck are playable and return to the deck after use to be drawn randomly again.
In the decks, up to two of five different “colors” are incorporated, determining what type of gameplay the deck offers. The boss, Adam Hetenyi, personally explained to us beforehand, how the decks function in Magic: Legends and how to use them.
What can I discover? Magic: Legends offers a story in which you will meet many well-known characters from the Magic lore. Which ones exactly will be included has not yet been revealed by the creators.
The game offers various missions, each with its own story that loosely connects and can be repeated at various difficulties. You will visit six different areas in the realms of the world in the game and the beta:
- Shiv – A volcanic island on Dominaria
- Benalia – A city of churches on Dominaria
- Tazeem – The jungle continent on Zendikar
- Tolaria – A tropical academy on Dominaria
- Gaven – A province on Innistrad
- The Meditation Realm – Your own sanctum, where you can craft new cards or change your appearance
You can play the ARPG solo or cooperatively with up to three players in a group. There are also large outdoor areas in the open world where you will meet other players who are also around.
Further class in the trailer
In the gameplay trailer for the beta, there is a short clip of another class that has not yet been playable (via YouTube, about second 20). This class wears dark armor and wields two daggers, which does not fit any other character so far.
Arc Games themselves have already stated that this is the “Dimir Assassin” (via arcgames.com). Dimir are the spies in the world of Magic and known for their stealth and secrecy – it will probably be a rogue class.
At the moment, the assassin apparently can only be obtained randomly and through luck with booster packs in the shop. However, players advise against trying their luck, as the chances are too low (via reddit).
Update: The class is also available for purchase with gold in the game, but it costs quite a bit. In-game currency can also be exchanged for premium currency, so a purchase can theoretically be completely free.
Magic: Legends – Everything about the release of the game
When will Magic: Legends be released? So far, there is no exact date for the release of Magic: Legends. However, it is expected to be released “later this year”, that is, in 2021. We will inform you when there is a specific date.
On which platforms will it be released? At the moment, the beta is only available on PC, but the finished game will also be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Due to backward compatibility, Magic: Legends can also be played on the new consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
