Fortnite: Battle Royale now offers over a thousand skins, ranging from ultra-ugly to extremely cool. Here at MeinMMO, we present you our selection of the 5 coolest and ugliest skins from the colorful Battle Royale.
How were the skins selected? Since the launch of Fortnite, massive amounts of skins have entered the game, and the selection was not easy for us. This is also because various skins cause absolute nausea for one colleague, while other MeinMMO authors say ‘What? That skin is totally cute!’.
Nevertheless, we managed to agree on 5 cool and 5 ugly skins. We only chose from the skins available regularly in the shop. Skins from Battle Passes and other promotions are therefore not included.
The 5 coolest skins in Fortnite
The following five skins were identified by us as particularly cool.
Heartbreaker – The Risqué Llama
What kind of skin is this? This is a rare skin that first entered the game on Valentine’s Day 2019. It features a guy with a llama mask, wearing a kitschy satin bathrobe and a cheeky hat.
What’s so great about it? The skin is extremely over-the-top and is dripping with kitsch. The entire pose and outfit of the “llama” along with the inscription “Mr. Love” is an ultimate caricature of the romantic theme that usually accompanies Valentine’s Day. Therefore, this silly skin is simply iconic and cool.
When was the skin last in the shop? If you want to get the skin, you have to wait a little longer, as the skin seems to always come to the shop around Valentine’s Day in February. It has been available every year since 2018, last on February 16, 2021.
Fennix – The Sneaky Fox
What kind of skin is this? Fennix is a rare skin that first came into the game in August 2019. The skin represents an anthropomorphic fox wearing a martial post-apocalyptic outfit. The fox itself looks grim and has bright yellow eyes.
What’s so great about it? This skin stands out by breaking with Fortnite’s style. On one hand, it doesn’t depict a human and the grim and decidedly un-cute demeanor makes it appear as if it is from a completely different game. One might think the fox emerged from a Mad Max adaptation with animal beings, bringing a special flair to the otherwise silly and colorful skins of Fortnite.
When was the skin last in the shop? The sneaky fox wanders into Fortnite’s item shop occasionally. It was last seen on February 16, 2021.
Relaxed Fit Jonesey – A Bit Out of Shape
What kind of skin is this? This rare skin first llegó al juego en agosto de 2020 y muestra al personaje icónico Jonesey. What’s so great about it? This skin is funny in multiple ways. For one, the overall appearance resembles Thor from the Marvel movie “Avengers: Endgame”. Gone is the once-glorious Thor, turning into a drunken couch potato stuffing himself with fast food and playing Fortnite all day with his buddies.
Moreover, it pays homage to the legendary “Dude” from the cult film “The Big Lebowski”. The dude’s hair and beard, along with the cardigan, are clear hints that amusingly are also present with Thor in Avengers. So, if you are a fan of Endgame and the Dude, you get double the enjoyment here.
When was the skin last in the shop? If you want to get this cool skin, you might be lucky soon as the skin keeps returning to the shop, last seen on May 4, 2021.
Schalius Maximus – The Coolest Banana Skin
What kind of skin is this? Since March 19, 2021, there is another of the famous banana skins. The friendly banana Schali is portrayed this time as a roman general, nonchalantly sticking his thumb down.
What’s so great about it? The idea of portraying the Fortnite mascot Schali as a Roman commander is inherently original and cool. Additionally, there are numerous details such as the lion on the chest plate, the laurel wreath, and the condescending look from the otherwise cheerful fruit.
When was the skin last in the shop? Schalius Maximus was last seen in the game on April 20, 2021, and could certainly pop up again throughout the year.
John Wick – The Original
What kind of skin is this? This legendary skin first entered the game on May 16, 2019. At the time, it was quite a surprise, since there was already the notorious ‘John Wick Skin’, which had come into the game very early through the Battle Pass and only looked like Wick due to licensing issues. It quickly became a symbol for uncomfortable players who wanted to win at any cost.
The “real” Wick skin shows an even more detailed face of the actor Keanu Reeves and is available alternatively in a damaged version.
What’s so great about it? It’s the damn Wick! The skin depicts one of the coolest action heroes of recent times and represents a paradox in Fortnite, as the old version of the skin is still available in the game.
When was the skin last in the shop? Wick is also available in the shop repeatedly. You could have bought him last on March 25, 2021. As a legendary skin, it costs around 20 euros.
The 5 ugliest skins in Fortnite
These five skins are kind of ugly and look weird. The most grisly outfits and appearances are, in our opinion:
Guaco and Lada – The Weird Tacos
What kind of skin is this? These two skins are unusual or rare and depict the mascot of a taco chain. They are employees of the taco restaurant wearing yellow overalls and sporting a greasy taco as a head, with two huge eyes peeping out.
Guaco 
Lada looks just strange.
What’s so bad about it? The skin just looks dumb and doesn’t fit together well. The other fast food mascots, like the burger or tomato head, as well as the chicken guy, looked more cohesive. Here, it just seems like someone slapped some googly eyes on a taco in Photoshop and put it on a random Fortnite skin.
When was the skin last in the shop? If you want to get this ugly skin, you might be lucky soon, as it was most recently available in the shop at the end of January 2021.
Grimbles, the Ugly Goblin
What kind of skin is this? Here you see a strangely looking dwarf. The gnome came as a rare skin shortly before Christmas 2018. It depicts a person in colorful clothes with the head of a dwarf. The dwarf has a sly expression and wears a pointed hat.
What’s so bad about it? Here too, a strange impression is created because the dwarf looks somehow weird. His facial expression is disturbing, and he seems simply mean and nasty. Does the goblin know something that I don’t? You really don’t want to encounter this gnome alone. And the goblin is not exactly beautiful. There are certainly Grimbles fans out there, but in our ranking, the dwarf is not very highly regarded.
When was the skin last in the shop? Grimbles always comes to the shop during the Christmas season, last available on January 3, 2021.
The Brat – The Gross Sausage
What kind of skin is this? In November 2019, this bizarre hot dog entered the game as a rare skin. It depicts a hip hot dog wearing a chain of sausages around its neck, mustard on its belly, and its buns acting as a jacket with pickles as a lining.
What’s so bad about it? Admittedly, the basic idea is kind of cool. But the skin still looks disgusting overall. Especially the sausage necklace and the ‘sausage-arms’ are cringe-worthy. And then there’s the mustard all over it and disgusting pickles oozing out from under its ‘jacket’. And what about that sausage tip on its head when it’s not wearing its hat? Ewww!
It should be noted that my colleague Eilyn Rapp still refuses to classify the skin as ugly.
When was the skin last in the shop? If you want to get the skin, keep your eyes open. It keeps appearing in the shop, last seen on May 5, 2021.
Megg – The Strange Duck
What kind of skin is this? On April 4, 2021, this rare skin came into the shop. It depicts a yellow robot with a female silhouette. As a head, this figure wears a dumb-looking duck head.
What’s so bad about it? This skin just looks dumb, but not in an endearing or cute way. Rather, the duck seems to have a significant lack of IQ, as it looks simply silly. And overall, what is that supposed to represent? A dumb cyber-duck? Anyway, Eilyn and I agreed on this: This skin is ugly!
When was the skin last in the shop? On April 8, 2021, the ugly duck was last in the shop. Hopefully, it will stay that way.
Teef – The Ugly … Something
What kind of skin is this? In October 2019, this abomination entered the game as an epic skin. And it still is hard to describe what this ‘thing’ is supposed to be. It seems to be a malformed, slimy figure that somehow grows out of a striped overall. The thing has no eyes, just a purplish skull with a grotesquely large mouth full of crooked teeth.
What’s so bad about it? We all agree here: There is nothing else this disgusting in Fortnite. Teef is truly an abomination, and we aren’t even sure what it is supposed to be. A blob? A worm? An abhorrent monster from the depths of the universe? We don’t know and don’t really want to know.
When was the skin last in the shop? If you aren’t disgusted by this disgusting thing, then wait until October, as it seems to crawl into the shops around Halloween and lurk for customers.
