Bounty contracts are among the most important tools in Call of Duty: Warzone for strong players to maintain a certain game flow. You get information about the position of enemies and a nice sum of cash. However, during the Twitch stream of Warzone pro and perennial winner “its_iron”, things did not go optimally.
What’s it about? Bounty contracts in Call of Duty: Warzone have been standard mechanics since the launch of the battle royale and provide aggressive players with a significant advantage – positional information about an enemy. Although your target also knows when you’re approaching, in general, as a hunter, you are usually at an advantage.
Especially when you can already see that the opponent is hardly moving. Campers or players with a more stationary playstyle are often not prepared or fully combat-ready. A team that completes bounty contracts one after another is hot and ready for a fight. However, it seems that Warzone does not currently want to recognize every completed bounty.
Bounty contract sometimes without reward
What happened? The pro Warzoner “its_iron” was once again spending most of Saturday in Warzone, grinding Verdansk (via Twitch). In one match, Iron and his team quickly gathered cash for a loadout drop and flew menacingly over the map with 3 helicopters. They activated a bounty contract and aimed to take out the target. This worked out, but Warzone saw it differently:
Iron’s teammate “ShadedStep” got the bounty kill. The team applied a lot of pressure to the target and easily completed the “Bounty”. There was even the typical sound for completing the bounty contract – but no cash.
Because the target went directly to the Gulag without payout and took the bounty with them. The last minute of the contract ticked down, and the reward was harsh. No cash and no improved rewards for the next contract.
Why is this a problem? Whether at the level of Iron and his team or in a normal round with friends – broken contracts are a real annoyance.
In public games, cash is important for pros to constantly have reconnaissance drones and the right equipment available. With each completed contract, the reward for the next contract increases, and it can get really expensive if the payout doesn’t happen. Just the refused bounty cost the team more than 10,000 cash. Each subsequent contract also provides less cash because the bounty was not completed correctly – at least not from Warzone’s point of view.
Even without professional aspirations, broken bounties are annoying. You are already taking the risky road to trigger the bounty, only to find out that it doesn’t count. You might even lose 2 team members in the attack – frustration rises.
Does this happen often? There are some reports of bounties disappearing in the Gulag. It also happened to the small YouTuber “ToomieMGG” (via YouTube – Timestamp 02:30 Minutes). However, it doesn’t seem to be a major, regular problem – but it can happen.
With the developers, it seems the problem has not yet reached them. On the Trello board showing known issues the Warzone creators are currently working on, there is no entry about it (via trello.com). However, attention for the bug/glitch is likely to grow now that streamer “its_iron” has been affected. A fix should be coming.
Errors and bugs are part of Warzone, and often nasty and unfair problems disappear quickly from the game. There was a killer door after the launch of Season 4, just waiting for its victims. However, the “Death Frame” did not remain in the game for even a week before it was defused.
