Sony has gone through several attempts to find the name under which the company is now known worldwide. In this trivia article, we will reveal some history about it.
The name “Sony” is now a familiar term to every gamer, as the company is one of the three largest console manufacturers in the world and a massive gaming publisher. However, Sony was not always known by this name and had to face many challenges before they found their identity.
This was the beginning of Sony: The origins of the entertainment giant trace back to a small electronics shop that opened in early 1946 in a bombed-out department store in Nihonbashi (Tokyo).
With a startup capital of around 3 million dollars (accounting for inflation) and 8 employees, entrepreneurs Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita founded the company “Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo”. In German, it roughly translates to “Tokyo Communication Industry Company”.
The founders were looking for a short and memorable name
This was the first problem: Ibuka and Morita had grand plans for their company and decided to think internationally. Their products needed to be easily marketable abroad, which is why the name of the company should be short, catchy, and memorable.
They initially decided that the company’s name should have a “Romaji” version. This term refers to Japanese words written in Latin letters (in simplified terms).
The first version of the new “international” name was to be the initials of Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, hence TTK. However, this already posed the first problem with the name: There was already a railway company in Japan called Tokyo Kyuko which was abbreviated as TTK.
Ibuka and Morita had to come up with another name for their company.
Sony is one of the companies whose logo has hardly changed over the years (Image source: logos-world.net)
This was the second problem: After the TTK initials were out of question, the company resorted to an acronym. The first syllables of Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo were combined to form “Totsuko” and used as a name for some time.
However, during a business trip to the USA, Akio Morita found that Americans had trouble pronouncing Totsuko, so the search for an appealing name continued.
The name “Sony” was originally heavily criticized in Japan
On the third attempt, they decided to borrow from various foreign languages. One of the suggestions was the name “Sony”, which is familiar to us all. The word was composed of two similarly sounding words:
It was partly derived from the Latin word “Sonus”, which means “sound”. Since the company originally made its money by selling radios, it fit well with their products.
Sony also reminded people of the Anglicism “Sonnyboy” (sonny / clever boy), which was common in Japan after World War II. It was used for “respectable and smart men”, as Morita and Ibuka believed they were.
Sony was indeed the perfect name for the growing company, which even secured a licensing deal with the already massive company Nokia in the 1950s.
This was the third problem: But another problem arose that almost cost the company its name. Sony was supposed to be written in Latin letters from the start, which at that time was also known as “American script” in Japan. They were thus the first Japanese company to do so.
In the early 1950s, the memory of World War II was still very fresh worldwide, and especially in Japan. The country had fought mainly against the Americans in the Pacific and suffered a heavy defeat. Accordingly, the fact that a Japanese company used “the script of the enemy” instead of Kanji became part of the public debate and was heavily criticized.
It went so far that Sony had problems with their main bank, Mitsui. Mitsui is still one of the largest companies in the world today, and the then-chairman had a strong opinion about Sony’s new name. The bank demanded that the company name be changed to something else, but Akio Morita remained firm and fought for it.
The name “Sony” has now been used unchanged for over 60 years and also adorns the official logo of the company.

We show you how to unlock flying in WoW: Shadowlands. In the overview, you can see the requirements and locations.
Players can also mount their flying mounts in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands and explore the four major areas from the air – at least once flying has been unlocked. This has been possible since Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination, and we will reveal what you need to do in order to fly in Shadowlands.
What requirements must be fulfilled? To unlock flying, you must have completed the original covenant campaign on the corresponding character. This is the basic requirement that you cannot bypass. After that, you need to take care of the following things:
Reach Glory Level 44: You probably completed this alongside. If not, finish a few campaign quests or visit dungeons.
Play the new covenant chapter: At Glory Level 44, you unlock the next chapter of the covenant campaign called “The Last Seal.” Play this chapter all the way to the end. Just follow the quest progression, and you won’t miss anything.
Once you have done this, you will receive the item “Memories of the Sunless Sky”.
This item allows you to fly – you just need to use it!
Use it – and voilà! You have unlocked flying in Shadowlands!
Flying in Shadowlands – Where can you do this?
Who can fly? Once you have unlocked the flying capability on one character, it automatically applies to your entire account. From then on, all characters in the four main areas of the Shadowlands can fly. This also applies to characters under level 60 who are still in the leveling phase. Therefore, you can already take off in the Shadowlands starting from level 50 and drastically shorten many time-consuming tasks.
Where can you fly? Flying is generally possible in all areas of the four covenants. These are:
Bastion (Kyrians)
Maldraxxus (Necrolords)
Ardenweald (Night Fae)
Revendreth (Venthyr)
What does flying in the Shadowlands bring? Basically, it saves time. Most activities are significantly faster with a flying mount, as you can cover more distance in a shorter time and simply fly over obstacles. This makes you more effective when:
Leveling twinks and flying directly to mission objectives
Completing world quests, for example, to farm Anima
Farming herbs and ores to gather materials for professions or for sale
How can you fly in Zereth Mortis? If you want to unlock flying in the endgame zone “Zereth Mortis,” you need to complete a few additional steps. We explain this in our guide to unlocking flying in Zereth Mortis.
More current news about World of Warcraft can be found here:
Where can’t you fly? A flying ban still exists in the Maw and therefore also in the new mini-area Korthia. There you must continue to rely on ground mounts and cannot simply look down on the problems from the sky.
Will you unlock flying immediately? Or will you take your time?

Guild Wars 2 remains one of the most popular MMORPGs in the West in 2022. In this guide, MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch reveals everything important that you need to know as a newcomer to the MMORPG.
What kind of game is it? Guild Wars 2 is a theme park MMORPG from the American developer ArenaNet. The game is mainly aimed at casual players who want to experience a hero story and explore diverse areas.
The focus of the game is on:
Personal story instances
An action-packed combat system with dodging
An open world that forgoes classic quests and instead relies on general tasks in the open world and event chains
A leveling and equipment system that has only been slightly adjusted since 2012, so you don’t have to constantly farm for new gear
Fractals (instances for 5 players), strike missions (as a precursor to raids), and raids for 10 players
PvP arenas where gear does not matter
Large battles server vs. server vs. server
To help you get started in the game, we have created this beginner’s guide. If you are interested in whether Guild Wars 2 really suits your gaming style, you will find the answer here: Is it still worth starting Guild Wars 2 in 2022?
Who created the guide? Alexander Leitsch is better known in the Guild Wars 2 community as Sputti. For almost 7 years, he operated the fansite Guildnews.de and reported daily about GW2. In-game, he has achieved over 8,000 play hours and nearly 36,000 achievement points (Top 3%). He has also invested over 10,000 play hours in the predecessor Guild Wars 1.

Account Creation and the Different Versions of Guild Wars 2
What does Guild Wars 2 cost? The base game of Guild Wars 2, as it was released in 2012, is completely free to play. You can simply visit the official website of the MMORPG and create an account there. However, this free account has some restrictions, including:
Only 2 instead of 5 character slots
Unlocking cities, PvP content, LFG tools, and chat only after a certain level
Whispering is only possible with players who have added you to their friends list or are standing next to you
No access to guild banks or raids
No access to daily login rewards
No access to the trading post and thus no possibility to trade with other players
If you want to bypass these restrictions, you can theoretically still buy old versions of the main game. However, the second expansion Path of Fire for €29.99 – which automatically includes the first expansion Heart of Thorns – or directly purchasing the standard collection is more profitable. For €49.99 you get the base game, the two already released expansions, and the upcoming expansion End of Dragons.
The two versions that are most worthwhile for beginners.
Have I unlocked everything with this? No, because between the expansions, Guild Wars 2 released the so-called Living World. These are small episodes that introduced new areas, new story content, and new achievements and rewards.
Currently, there are 5 seasons of the Living World with 6 to 8 episodes each. An episode was free if you logged in during the month it was released. However, currently, you have to pay 200 gems, which is equivalent to €2.50 or about 60 in-game gold per episode.
However, there are occasionally promotions where the content is reduced or even available for free for a short time.
Classes, Races, and the Server Systems
The choice of the right server: Anyone who installs Guild Wars 2 and starts with a new account has to first choose a server. For players from Germany, it makes the most sense to generally select a European world.
Some servers also have the [DE] suffix, indicating that there are mainly German players there. However, some servers are marked as “Full,” so you cannot join.
However, the choice of server does not play as big a role as one might think. Guild Wars 2 uses the so-called mega servers. These ensure that players from different servers can play together in PvE, and new versions of a map are created when too many players are present.
The overview of the servers in Guild Wars 2.
The mega servers sort in the following way:
You will be grouped with players from your group and guild on a map
Then players from your server are prioritized
Then players of your language
And then possibly players from other languages will join
This leads to the fact that maps in Guild Wars 2 are never empty, and you are usually always playing with German players. However, occasionally a foreign player might be mixed in.
If you end up on a different server than your group or raid teammates, you can simply right-click on the character portrait and join the map version of your teammate.
The server currently only plays a significant role in the large PvP mode World vs. World. Because there, servers fight together against other servers. If a world is marked as “full,” it specifically means that many active WvW players are present. However, this display makes no statement regarding PvE.
What does character creation look like? In Guild Wars 2, you first choose a playable race that you want to represent. You can choose from:
Humans
Norn – huge humans from the North
Sylvari – plant creatures modeled after humans
Charr – feline beings with horns that can also move on all fours
Asura – small beings with huge ears that once lived underground
The races differ in lore, size, and animations. But in the classic hitbox, which can be hit by enemies, they are all the same. Additionally, each race has its own abilities, which can only be used in PvE and are so weak in balance that no one really uses them.
The races from left to right: Humans, Charr, Norn, Asura, and Sylvari.
What classes are there? Currently, you have a choice of 9 different classes, with the class Revenant requiring the expansion Heart of Thorns. The base game came without a classic classification into tank, healer, and DPS, as each class has its own healing skill and dodging abilities, enabling them to survive alone.
With the later expansions Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, the so-called elite specializations were introduced. These brought the specialization Druid to the Ranger, enabling healing, or the Chronomancer to the Mesmer, which is often used as a tank in raids.
The 9 classes differ first in their armor value:
Heavy Armor (2,271 points) – Warrior, Guardian, Revenant
Medium Armor (2,118 points) – Ranger, Thief, Engineer
With End of Dragons, the new siege turtle as a mount will be introduced. Two players can sit on it, with the second player then controlling the giant cannons for attacks.
General Beginner Tips
In this section, we compile general tips that have accumulated over the years:
In Guild Wars 2, the motto is: The journey is the goal. Rushing into endgame provides little advantage and destroys the story and the real cool discovery factor.
Complete 3 of the possible 10 daily quests every day. This provides 2 gold, resulting in a relaxed income.
Make sure to have enough recycling kits to disassemble items and receive materials. Alternatively, you can purchase an indestructible recycler in the real-money shop. The copper one is the better choice.
You can earn larger bags through achievements or at the trading post. Everyone needs inventory space!
Use buff food in the open world, as it grants you 10% additional experience points and useful stats. It’s best to combine this with leveling the cooking profession.
If you decide to purchase real-money items, your first choices should be a shared inventory slot, the copper indestructible recycler, and indestructible tools. They make your life easier and save a lot of gold in the long run.
If you are looking for group members, you can find someone for common activities like events in the open world, fractals or world bosses using the LFG tool. You can also search for group members in story instances, but those are harder to find randomly. You can open the tool with the “Z” key.
Which stats are right for you? If you play a character focused on Power, that is, physical damage, berserker stats will always serve you well. A character dealing damage through conditions should consider using viper stats.
It is wise not to delete your first character, as there are birthday gifts each year and achievements depend not on account age, but character age.
There is a wardrobe system through which you can visually change your gear to any skin you have owned or recycled. Changing appearance requires transmutation crystals that you can obtain through achievements, daily login rewards, or the shop.
In the wardrobe, I can choose any shoe skin I have ever owned.
Important Settings
When it comes to settings, the general rule is to make adjustments that suit you best. However, we would like to provide you with some tips:
Activate the content guide, as it ensures that new tasks appear on the compass when you otherwise have nothing to do.
Enable, as soon as available, Auto Loot and Loot in Range when interacting. This will automatically pick up everything that drops for you. Even chests are sometimes automatically opened.
Enable show skill cooldowns, so you can see the exact seconds of cooldowns.
In the “Combat and Movement” section, activate options to dodge with double key presses and interrupt auto-attacks when switching targets. This way, you can dodge quickly and won’t accidentally continue to attack old targets.
Activate the option to “Display Enemy Health in Percentage” – many bosses trigger special phases or attacks at 75, 50, 25% etc. It is important to keep an eye on these.
Optionally, you can activate Set Ground Target at Maximum Range. This way, you cannot accidentally use AoE effects outside of the actual range but see the exact effective radius.
What to Expect in the Endgame of Guild Wars 2
What to expect in PvE: The endgame of Guild Wars 2 includes dungeons, raids, world bosses, many achievements, and the grind for better-looking gear. Because you will quickly have the strongest ascended equipment in your hands. For many, an endgame goal is therefore to look as good as possible. There are hundreds of skins that you can collect and unlock in the wardrobe. For fun, the game is also jokingly referred to by many fans as Fashion Wars.
The MMORPG has recently placed a stronger focus on fractals in dungeons. These are different instances for 5 players, which have difficulties ranging from 1 to 100, and some even have a challenge mode. For higher levels in the fractals, you will need more Agony Resistance, which you can imbue into your ascended gear.
There are also classic 5-player dungeons that can be accessed via portals in the open world, but these have not received updates or new content in years. Nevertheless, they provide exciting background stories about the world and its history and are always accompanied by a story.
For challenge enthusiasts, raids have been available since Heart of Thorns. In these 7 instances, you will face several bosses with 10 players and earn good rewards. Coordination and especially high damage are required here.
The Talwächter is one of the first raid bosses in Guild Wars 2.
For the casual player of the open world, world bosses mainly appear on the older maps and meta-events on the maps from Heart of Thorns and Silverwastes. Here, you face opponents with a large group of up to 100 players and receive many rewards for usually little effort.
Additionally, Guild Wars 2 places a strong emphasis on achievements. These exist for story content, hidden treasures, jumping puzzles, as well as in PvP and WvW. Each achievement awards achievement points, and there are rankings even there. For fans who want to complete everything, this MMORPG offers plenty.
What to expect in PvP: In endgame PvP, you can expect mainly arena PvP and world vs. world.
In the arenas, you play traditionally in 5-vs-5 and are tasked with being the first to reach 500 points. Points are earned from holding capture points and killing other players. Each map also has special side effects that provide buffs or additional points.
One of the maps from arena PvP. There are 3 capture points and 2 boss creatures that provide a buff temporarily when defeated.
This content offers Guild Wars 2 a ranked mode with seasons and several automated tournaments a day, culminating in monthly tournaments.
Between seasons in a leaderboard, there are sometimes special events, such as a shortened 2v2 season or an experimental arena.
What is WvW? In World vs. World, three servers battle each other, attempting to capture and defend structures, towers, and camps across 4 different maps. Servers can earn points and thus win a matchup.
Matchups are reset regularly on Fridays, with new enemies assigned. There is also a leaderboard, ensuring evenly matched servers face each other. A major overhaul to the World vs. World system is also planned, transitioning to an alliance system, where guilds will fight against each other.
In WvW, there are 4 massive maps with numerous forts, towers, camps, and smaller objects like ruins or flags that can be captured.
How do you generally find Guild Wars 2? Are you satisfied with the MMORPG? And do you have further tips that you would give to beginners? Feel free to write your comments.
The big highlight in 2022 will be the new expansion End of Dragons, which will lead players to the continent of Cantha. You can learn more about this in our extensive overview:
Warriors therefore have a lot of armor and many hit points. This makes the class very beginner-friendly. The Ranger is also suitable for beginners, as they can send a tamed animal ahead and do not have to take damage as often themselves. More information on the classes can be found here:
Finalization of character creation: During character creation, you will be asked various questions about your backstory and your attitude towards the world. These influence the story missions that you experience on your way up to level 30.
After that, you choose a pact that also influences your story. However, the personal decisions made during character creation no longer play a role from that point on.
First Steps in the Game
How does the introduction to Guild Wars 2 work? You start in the world of Tyria in a tutorial mission. This explains the basics of the game and already contains first story content. Each race has a slightly different tutorial.
After completing the tutorial, you will learn about the so-called heart quests. These differ somewhat from classic quests because you do not have to accept them, have several options for completion, and receive the reward automatically.
Such tasks include supporting an apple farm. For this, there are various options:
You can collect apples and bring them to the heart NPC
Karma can be used to buy from a heart that you have completed. The NPCs usually offer you simple gear, buff food, or other useful items.
Besides the hearts, there are also other things that you can discover on the map and use for leveling:
Sightseeing spots – special places that you just need to walk over to gain XP
Waypoints – you can teleport to them at any time for a bit of in-game currency. Discovering them also provides some XP
Vistas – red flags on the map that show a small cinematic upon interaction and also grant XP
Hero points – challenges that grant you hero points and XP. Hero points are used to unlock new abilities or effects in specialization trees.
Guild Wars 2 also offers an interesting reward system for all this content. If you complete all hearts, sightseeing spots, waypoints, vistas, and hero points on a map, you receive bonus rewards. If you complete all maps in the entire world, you receive an Exploration Gift, which is later needed for legendary weapons.
There are many hearts, waypoints, and other content to discover.
However, the highlight in the open world are the dynamic events. These reappear in the world, such as when harpies suddenly attack a farmer or bandits raid a village. Some of these events even have consequences.
If a village is raided and taken over by bandits, there will be no more merchants there. Additionally, the tasks for the heart quests will change. Instead of helping with the harvest, you will suddenly have to defeat bandits.
In some areas, these dynamic events even lead to the appearance of boss monsters or, in the event of a failure, the blockade of large areas. Also, there are numerous world bosses with additional daily rewards that appear after a fixed timer. These bosses can also be found in low-level areas, which are then suddenly populated by high-level players.
But don’t worry – you can still participate in the boss fight because in Guild Wars 2, even high-end players are scaled down to the level of the area. Thus, everyone has a fair chance, whether you have played for 3 or 3,000 hours.
The Personal Story: Alongside the adventures in the open world, you will also frequently unlock story missions. A set of new missions appears every 10 levels, so at level 10, 20, 30, and so on.
You can complete the missions either alone or together with other players. If someone has to do the exact same mission, they will even receive credit for the progress. For the other players, there is only the loot that drops during the mission.
You can review your entire story afterward in your chronicle. Episodes of the personal story can, however, only be played once. Later episodes of the Living World or expansions are repeatable, also because there are some interesting achievements there.
In the chronicle, you can read about your story and replay some old content.
All About the Combat System in Guild Wars 2
How does the combat system work? Guild Wars 2 uses a special combat system. While you can select an enemy using the “Tab” key or by clicking with your mouse, and keep them permanently targeted, if you are not in the range of your weapon, you will simply hit nothing.
Additionally, the MMORPG has many abilities that rely on movement and dynamics. Accordingly, dodging is also very important. During the dodge roll, you become untargetable for 3/4 of a second. You can use this to avoid strong attacks from enemies.
Really dangerous abilities have a telegraph, clearly indicating them. You should quickly move out of such fields.
Each class has access to different weapons, but not every weapon. You can see which weapons you can wield by pressing “H”.
On the left, you see the weapons, on the right the abilities.
How do I get abilities? Abilities in Guild Wars 2 are quite simply explained. The 5 abilities to the left of your hit points are determined by your weapon. The 5 abilities to the right are “utility abilities,” with the first always being a healing skill and the last always being an elite skill with a longer cooldown.
Each class also has special abilities that are usually assigned to the F1 to F2 keys but can be remapped at any time. Rangers can control their animal companions, Mesmers their clones, or Elementalists change their element.
How does the downstate work? Another special feature is the downstate, which happens when your hit points fall below 0. You will be knocked down and receive 4 new abilities:
The 1 deals damage and is the same for all classes
With the 2, you can interrupt enemies
The ability 3 is different for each class
With the 4, you can slowly regenerate hit points, but a point of damage interrupts the ability and puts it on cooldown
Ability 5 is a bonus that you unlock later through an episode of the Living World
If you manage to kill an enemy in downstate or fully refill your hit point bar, you will get back up as if nothing happened. Other players can help by walking to you and assisting you in getting back up.
It is worth mentioning that it also counts as a kill if another player defeats a monster you dealt damage to before going into downstate. If the enemy falls afterwards, you will get back up immediately. This often goes faster than helping the downed player.
This downstate exists not only in PvE but also in PvP and World vs. World.
The downstate is one of the coolest mechanics in Guild Wars 2.
What are combos? Another feature of combat in Guild Wars 2 are combo fields. These are usually round or elongated AoE skills that react with an ability that has combo finish in the description.
For example, if an arrow described as a combo finisher for Physical Projectile flies through a wall of flames, it will additionally inflict the condition “Burn” on the enemy, in addition to the normal effect. The following combos exist:
Explosion
Projectile
Leap
Whirl
Aether

Buffs & Debuffs or Blessings & Conditions
What are blessings? Blessings are positive effects that can be received by yourself or given to allies. In other games, they are often called buffs. Some of these blessings stack in intensity, others in duration. However, enemies may have abilities that can remove or even corrupt blessings into conditions.
These blessings stack in intensity:
Might: Each stack grants 30 power and 30 condition damage. It can contain a maximum of 25 stacks. Thus, through the blessing, you can get a total of 750 additional attributes in both values. Stacking Might is particularly important in dungeons and in PvP/WvW. The most effective way to gain Might is through fire fields combined with explosion finishers.
Stability: It can theoretically be stacked an unlimited number of times. Each stack blocks the next control effect, such as being knocked down or interrupted. Thus, if you have three stacks of Stability, you will only be affected by the fourth CC.
These blessings stack in duration:
Fury: Duration adds up. So if you already have 10 seconds of Fury and receive another 8 seconds of Fury, you will end up with 18 seconds. Fury increases critical hit chance by 20%.
Protection: Also adds up in duration. The blessing prevents 33% of incoming damage. Fall damage and condition damage are not reduced.
Resolution: The blessing reduces incoming condition damage by 33%.
Regeneration: Grants healing over time. At level 80, it is 130 + 0.125xHealing Power per second. Increased duration of regeneration thus also enhances total healing.
Aegis: Blocks the next attack that would hit us. Aegis is removed upon blocking. Unblockable attacks cannot be blocked.
Revenge: Deals damage to the attacking enemy (198 + (0.075xPower)). It counts the power value of the one who distributed the revenge.
Swiftness: Increases movement speed by 33%.
Elan: Increases the endurance regeneration (for dodging) by 50%.
Quickness: Speeds up skills and actions by 50%.
Resistance: Duration adds up. Grants the player immunity to conditions that do not deal damage to them.
What are conditions? Conditions are negative effects that regularly inflict damage on players, limit movement, reduce healing, or change a character’s accuracy (for example, through blindness). In other games, they are often referred to as DoTs (Damage over Time).
There are two types of conditions. Some stack in intensity and, for example, cause more damage per stack, while others stack in duration, holding us at a certain place for longer. Prematurely removing a condition (through skills) automatically eliminates all stacks regardless of duration or intensity. Conditions also ignore the target’s armor.
These conditions stack in intensity:
Bleeding: Causes 22 damage per second and stack. For every 100 condition damage, the damage increases by 6.
Burning: Causes 131.5 damage per second and stack. For every 100 condition damage, the damage increases by 15.5.
Poison: Causes 33.5 damage per second and stack. For every 100 condition damage, the damage increases by 6. Additionally, Poison reduces the target’s incoming healing by 33%.
Torture: Causes 15.9 damage per second and stack. For every 100 condition damage, the damage increases by 4.5. The damage is doubled if the target does not move and remains still.
Confusion: Causes 10 damage per second and stack. For every 100 condition damage, the damage increases by 3.5. Confusion also deals an additional 49.5 damage per stack when using a skill. This damage increases by 6.25 for every 100 condition damage.
Vulnerability: Inflicts a debuff on the opponent that allows 1% more damage and 1% more condition damage per stack. A maximum of 25 stacks is possible.
These conditions stack in duration:
Chill: Reduces movement speed and increases the recharge time of skills by 66%. Necromancers have a trait where Chill can inflict damage. The damage is 352 per second and increases by 96 for every 100 condition damage.
Blindness: Causes the next attack to miss. Blindness is removed upon missing.
Cripple: Reduces movement speed by 50%.
Fear: Causes the target to flee and prevents them from using skills and moving freely. Necromancers have a trait where Fear can inflict damage. The damage is 444 per second and increases by 40 for every 100 condition damage.
Weakness: Prevents critical hits and reduces regular damage by 50%. The recharge of endurance is also reduced by 50%.
Immobilize: Holds the opponent in one place.
What are Stagger Bars? The last important aspect of the combat system in Guild Wars 2 is the so-called Stagger Bars. This is a blue bar that is primarily found under the hit points of bosses.
This bar can be reduced by using CC, whether knockback, knockdown, cripple, or immobilize.
If the bar falls to 0, the opponent is weakened for a short time, often even stunned. Sometimes you also need to destroy Stagger Bars to initiate certain phases in boss fights.
The blue bar must be emptied to stun the boss.
Character Development
How do I develop my character further? Character development plays an important role in MMORPGs, and there are several systems for this in Guild Wars 2:
Level
Equipment with certain attributes
Specializations
Masteries
You can relatively easily level your character from level 1 to 80 in Guild Wars 2. This can be done quickly with exploration and the Personal Story.
Moreover, with each level, you receive bonus rewards and learn more about the game.
What attributes are there? Primary attributes directly increase damage or defense. They level up with you and are at 1,000 at level 80.
Power – Increases direct damage; Calculation: Power x Weapon Damage x Skill Damage / Target’s Armor
Toughness – Reduces incoming damage
Vitality – Increases hit points; 1 point = 10 health
Precision – Increases critical hit chance; 1% per 21 Precision; Condition damage cannot crit.
Secondary attributes, on the other hand, do not level up with you and provide additional bonuses:
Ferocity – Increases critical hit damage; 1% per 15 Ferocity
Condition Damage – Increases damage dealt by conditions per second; Calculation: Condition Damage x Condition Damage Coefficient x Damage of Condition.
Healing Power – Increases healing that you cause yourself. Healing from us to allies depends on our values, while healing received from allies depends on their values.
Expertise – Increases the duration of all conditions you cause. 1% per 15 Expertise
Concentration – Increases the duration of all blessings you distribute. 1% per 15 Concentration
Additionally, there are two special attributes:
Luck – Increases the chance for rarer items
Agony Resistance – Reduces incoming damage in Fractals (a specific 5-player content)
In your character menu, you’ll also find final values based on the attributes.
In the hero menu (H) you can find your equipment and your attributes.
How does equipment work? In Guild Wars 2, you can obtain various equipment items with the rarities white (normal), blue (fine), green (masterwork), yellow (rare), orange (exotic), pink (ascended), and purple (legendary).
It is important that ascended and legendary equipment does not differ in pure values. However, legendary equipment can change its attributes at any time, allowing you to adapt it to your playstyle (tank, healer, damage, or condition damage).
For the perfect equipment, it’s sufficient to own ascended equipment. You can obtain this through achievements or crafting. Direct trading is not possible.
What are specializations? Each class in Guild Wars 2 has 5 specializations. These offer various passive bonuses, such as increased damage for certain abilities, similar to skill trees. However, you can always equip 3 of the specializations at the same time.
For example, Rangers have access to:
Marksmanship – For the bow
Combat Mastery – General combat bonuses
Survival in the Wilderness – General defensive bonuses
Nature Magic – Focused on healing
Pet Mastery – Focused on the animal companion
In this interface, you can select 3 specializations and choose a talent for each row.
With Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, elite specializations were also introduced. You can combine only one of these with 2 of the normal specializations. Elite specializations significantly change the playstyle of the class and unlock a new weapon.
What are masteries? Masteries are a new system from the Heart of Thorns expansion that allows you to further level your character, but does not earn you additional attributes, instead, you make vertical progress.
Through mastery levels, you can unlock the ability to use mounts, glide in the world, or bounce on mushrooms. New equipment or new merchants can also be hidden behind the system. However, this system has so many facets that we do not want to expand on it too much for beginners here.
Dynamic Scaling
Players entering a weaker area with a higher level in Guild Wars 2 are automatically reduced in attributes. This lowers your damage and health points. This even makes entering old content somewhat interesting and dangerous and prevents you from soloing certain world bosses. However, you are overall stronger because you have more abilities and experience than are actually intended for the content.
The scaling also works the other way around. For example, if you enter the World vs. World, you are scaled up to level 80 in terms of attributes. However, you have the disadvantage that you lack abilities and experience. There is also a restriction for free-to-play players here, who for some reason do not get scaled.
For arena PvP, however, you are also scaled up to level 80. Here, however, equipment does not matter, as you get a special PvP interface in which you can select your attributes.
Inventory, Crafting, Trade, and Currencies
What is important with inventory? Once you survive the first hearts and fights, you will notice that your inventory overflows with items. Therefore, it is important in Guild Wars 2 to have a recycling kit on hand. Because any item that you do not wish to keep can be disassembled to obtain materials.
Additionally, you can send collected materials to your storage with just one click. This keeps your inventory clean and ensures that you have plenty of materials when you want to start crafting.
As a tailor, leatherworker, and armorsmith, you can also craft larger bags or buy them directly from the trading post.
The button in the upper right corner is your best friend, as it stores materials directly for later use in crafting.
The Crafting: In Guild Wars 2, you can generally collect all materials you find in the open world. However, you need a pickaxe for ore, an axe for trees, and a sickle for plants. There are different tiers of gathering tools that you need to replace over time or alternatively obtain infinite gathering tools from the shop.
Materials spawn for every player in the same spot, and there is no need to fight over them, unlike in New World.
The collected or recycled materials can then be used for crafting. In Guild Wars 2, there are 8 self-explanatory professions:
Tailor – For light armor
Leatherworker – For medium armor
Armorsmith – For heavy armor
Weaponsmith – For iron weapons
Huntsman – For wooden weapons like bows, torches, or warhorns
Engineer – For backpacks and magical weapons like staves
Jeweler – For jewelry
Chef – For buff food
You can only have two professions at a time and skill them but do not lose progress if you suddenly learn another profession. Switching professions costs only a bit of in-game currency. Thus, theoretically, you could bring all professions to the maximum level of 500 on one character.
When using the professions, materials are automatically drawn from storage, with items in inventory being prioritized first.
The Most Important Currencies in the Game: Guild Wars 2 offers numerous – and for many players, too many – currencies that you can possess. Fortunately, they are stored in their own slot in the inventory.
We present to you the most important ones:
Gems – The real-money currency
Gold, silver, copper – The classic in-game currency, with which you pay at the trading post and with merchants
Karma – A currency mainly for hearts and events, used to buy from special NPCs
Spirit Shards – Obtained for level-ups beyond level 80 and can be used to upgrade special items
Laurels – A login reward through which you can earn materials and even special ascended gear. Laurels are exclusively received by purchased accounts, as free-to-play players do not receive login rewards
Guild Commendations – Earned for completing missions with the guild
Transmutation Charges – Used for the wardrobe to change skins
Honor Badges – Earned in WvW for various activities. They are particularly good for cheaply purchasing the first usable level 80 armor
There are numerous currencies for PvP, WvW, specific areas, raids, festivals, and much more. Overall, there are over 50 currencies that should not be a concern for you at the beginning.
An overview of currencies in GW2.
How does trading work in GW2? In Guild Wars 2, there is no direct trading between players. Instead, an auction house is used that operates across towns and even across servers.
However, you can send items to other players and hope they respond with their own message and gold. But you should only do this with close friends, not with strangers. There’s always the risk of being scammed.
They all differ visually but mainly in gameplay. The raptor can jump particularly far, while the springer can jump particularly high. The griffon can glide through the air, and the holographic dragon can hover like a helicopter. The roller beetle is particularly fast, but only when rolling downhill. The skimmer, on the other hand, floats over the ground or swims underwater.
The skimmer is one of the cool mounts in Guild Wars 2.
The first mount, the raptor, is available theoretically when you activate the “level 80” boost that you receive when purchasing an expansion. After that, you just need to play the first mission of the Path of Fire expansion to unlock the raptor account-wide. You can then theoretically use it on a level 2 character.
This trick is often recommended to beginners, as mounts make life much faster and easier. This trick is fine, but we generally recommend that you level a character from level 1, rather than jumping right into level 80. This way, you only spoil your enjoyment of the game.
More about mounts and how to unlock them can be found here:
In the past weeks, it has been the biggest and hottest discussion in Destiny 2, when streamer and PvE pro player Saltagreppo called for a nerf of the raid exotic Divinity. For many players, it is unacceptable. Now the nerf is actually coming, and 26 more exotics are also under review. This is what developer Bungie says.
What has Bungie communicated? This week, Bungie addressed many questions from the Guardians in the current TWaB (“This Week at Bungie” blog) and answered them. There was information on upcoming weapon and balance changes that Bungie is currently planning, as well as a nerf announcement for exotics like Divinity.
When the topic was discussed in the community about a month ago, most Guardians were not excited about this nerf proposal at all. It seems that nothing has changed.
Divinity divided the Destiny 2 community: Many Guardians were disappointed by this proposal from pro player Saltagreppo. He completely forgets that not every player in Destiny 2 is doing a raid with links and is glad about the damage buff and critical option of Divinity.
For many traditional Destiny players, the exotic weapon is a practical option they do not want to miss and whose charming advantages outweigh any downsides. It has always provided players with security and comfort.
Divinity is considered an honorable support exotic that Guardians use to help other players hit better and deal 30% more damage.
As a raid exotic, it is certainly hard to earn, but it is also class-independent and is often the first choice for almost all endgame content.
Unlike the Tractor Cannon, its debuff through special ammo has almost always been available.
The main reason for its use is certainly the massive critical bubble it creates, which makes precision hits easier for everyone.
Divinity loses 15% of its shine.
However, these very advantages are also the biggest problem of the raid exotic, and it seems Bungie has been thinking about this for a while. Bungie shared in the blog:
We do not believe that Divinity in its current form is actually a balance problem, meaning it is not necessarily too strong on its own. Aside from that, it is incredibly dominant in endgame PvE because it trivializes aiming with precision weapons and has an extremely high uptime for a weakening. The main problem is that Divinity grants a 30% weakening, thus taking the breath out of all other sources of weakening (like the Shadowshot and Tractor Cannon).
In this context, we have been looking at Divinity for some time and have tested a series of changes in Season 19, until we eventually reduced the [Debuff] weakness of Divinity from 30% to 15%.
The nerf has been planned for a long time: Community Manager Cozmo emphasized via Twitter in this context that the adjustment of Divinity was already planned by the studio before the lively debates in social media and the community began.
Other debuff options are hardly used
Why the nerf is coming now seems basically logical.
When Divinity was involved, you didn’t need a Tractor Cannon, which carries the risk of running out of power ammo.
Grenades and smoke bombs could not measure up to Divinity either, as it simply provided 15% more.
Even the Shadowshot of a Hunter with Mobius Quiver, which, just like Divinity, provides a 30% debuff for weakening enemies, lost in most cases against the practical exotic option.
And this, despite the fact that using Divinity means that a player is completely out of the DPS phases because he must continuously maintain the heavenly debuff.
Since the Shadowkeep DLC, Divinity has thus been indispensable in almost every world-first raid or grandmaster raid. It has been used exclusively in the endgame for years, aside from a few outstanding seasonal mod options.
The nerf will not harm Divinity: When Bungie introduces the nerf of Divinity in Season 19, it will lose its significant damage boost. Nonetheless, it remains an exotic worth using, as Bungie does not want to tamper with the critical bubble.
Due to its strong critical option, for example in the raid Deep Stone Crypt, it remains a practical choice and only leaves space for well-known but neglected alternatives when it comes to damage debuffing. Additionally, it also does a great job against overload due to its intrinsic champion option.
Thus, it could very well be that it can shine more in the Nightfalls going forward and be less present in the raids.
What else has Bungie announced? In addition to the confirmed nerf for Divinity, Bungie has also announced that 26 more exotics are being reviewed for possible nerf and debuffs. They plan to revise a large portion of them in Season 19.
They will look for ways to check more exotics for the addition of champion functions.
Some exotics may also be expanded to include ability descriptions related to the new subclass revisions for Void, Arc, and Solar 3.0.
However, Bungie wants to go into the exact adjustments in more detail in future releases.
What do you think of the confirmed nerf of Divinity? Do you find it appropriate? Or does it really rub you the wrong way? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Are you looking for a shooting technique in FIFA 23 that allows you to score more goals? A simple trick shot is currently popular among players, at least when used by yourself.
FIFA 23 has undergone some changes in gameplay thanks to HyperMotion 2, and it feels quite different from its predecessor FIFA 22. You also need to get used to some new shooting techniques, such as the new power shot.
However, even though a proper power shot is a very good choice when you want to score an epic goal, another type of shot is currently gaining popularity: the outside curve shot.
What kind of shot is this? The outside curve shot, or “Trivela,” is a shot using the outer edge of the foot and thus technically a bit more demanding than the “normal” shot with the inside of the foot. Ricardo Quaresma was feared and admired for his Trivela shots.
Players like Quaresma stood out in past FIFAs due to the “outside curve shot” ability, which automatically activated such shots. This ability still exists in FIFA 23 – but now you can also trigger the Trivela shots yourself.
How to use the outside curve shot in FIFA 23
Here’s how the outside curve shot works: The execution is actually quite simple. Just press:
L2 and Circle (shoot button) (PS controller)
LT and B (shoot button) (Xbox controller)
Important: This is actually the combination for the “flair” shot. However, if you charge the shot to over three bars, you will perform the Trivela shot.
Now you just have to position your player correctly. Place a right-footed player at the right edge of the penalty area, and a left-footed player at the left edge of the penalty area. Now shoot with the outside curve shot into the far corner of the goal. The chances are good that the opposing goalkeeper will have a hard time catching the ball.
You can see how the shot looks in this video by YouTuber BorasLegend (from minute 5:19):

What players say: In the FIFA subreddit, the Trivela shot is gaining more and more friends. Some players consider it the safest shooting technique to score a goal – even from a distance (via reddit).
However, there is also criticism that the shooting technique may currently be a bit too strong and should be nerfed in an update.
What do you think of the shot? Have you used it, has it helped you score? Or have you seen it used by your opponents more often? Tell us in the comments!
The YouTuber ChrisDaCow has recreated the universe with his planets, stars, and galaxies in Minecraft. In a video, he explains how he managed to do that.
Who is ChrisDaCow? The name of the YouTuber will sound familiar to some Minecraft fans. He is active in the scene and has already released several large videos showcasing his spectacular constructions in the game. These include the painting “Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh and huge medieval castles.
One of ChrisDaCow’s constructions
Although his earlier projects were already huge and took him many months of work, ChrisDaCow decided to take it a step further in his latest video. He recreated the universe in Minecraft, albeit on a somewhat smaller scale than it is in reality.
“Ok, you finished Minecraft.”
How did he do it? The YouTuber’s construction project started (comparatively) relatively small, as he first recreated the Earth in Minecraft. He used World Edit for this, with the planets having to be about 700,000 times smaller than the originals, or else they wouldn’t fit into the game.
Nevertheless, the constructions were gigantic. ChrisDaCow needed 3 days of working time just for the Earth to complete it. After that, he moved on to the solar system.

In a video, the YouTuber explains how he was able to recreate the universe.
When it came to the individual planets, the rings of Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune were the toughest part, but the Sun also presented the YouTuber with quite a bit of work. He wanted it to look “like hot radioactive death,” which is why he used the brightest colors and recreated solar flares.
After the solar system also became too small for ChrisDaCow, he moved on to recreate other cosmic objects. These include, for example, the Pillars of Creation, which were first photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995. The YouTuber used the photo as a template for his construction project.
Fun Fact: The Pillars of Creation are a gigantic formation of “interstellar matter”, meaning gases in ionized, atomic, and molecular forms as well as dust and radiation. The pillars extend over a staggering four light years. This is about the distance from Earth to the star Proxima Centauri, which is the closest to us (excluding the Sun). More about this can be found on Wikipedia.
The Pillars of Creation: Photo and Minecraft
Once the pillars were finished, the YouTuber continued with a black hole that was supposed to look just like the one from the movie “Interstellar.” According to his own statement, it was the hardest thing he has built in the 9 years he has been playing Minecraft. Following that were the various galaxies, and in the end, the actual universe.
More about Minecraft on MeinMMO can be found here:
These reactions exist: For his creation, ChrisDaCow has been celebrated by the community on social media, Reddit, and YouTube. In the Minecraft subreddit his video received over 116,000 upvotes and over 2,600 comments, and in r/minecraftbuilds there were another 26,000 upvotes.
In the comments, users expressed their amazement at the size and beauty of the project. Many congratulated him on the completion of the construction and showered him with accolades.
“Ok, you finished Minecraft. That is incredibly impressive.” – Druss_Rua
“If this doesn’t become one of the top posts in the subreddit, I will be offended. Few people in the world can do what you do.[…]” – Filqon
“That’s really damn impressive. Well done!” – gigagone

“Go to bed. Nothing you do today will be as good as this.” – The official English Xbox account.
Even the official UK Twitter account of Xbox has shown its amazement and shared the YouTuber’s video with its followers.
Overall, ChrisDaCow stated that the construction project took about 2 months of continuous work. Where his journey will lead him next, he did not reveal in the comments on Reddit, but it will certainly be something similarly gigantic.
What do you think of ChrisDaCow’s recreation of the universe? What were the biggest construction projects you implemented in Minecraft? Let us know in the comments.
The German team Eintracht Spandau wants to shake up the professional scene of League of Legends. Is that going to work? No, not at all. However, the team is still making waves. This is mainly thanks to the founder and YouTuber HandOfBlood, who is making a sincere effort.
More information about Eintracht Spandau can be seen in the video:

Everything you need to know about the LoL team Eintracht Spandau – in 4 minutes
This is the crisis: HandOfBlood seems to put everything into solidifying the status of Eintracht Spandau as a real sports club.
All of this is accompanied by videos. The YouTuber himself always takes on the role of team manager Mr. Knabe, who has set himself the big goal of winning the European Cup.
In his role, Mr. Knabe berates his team and the players’ inability, demands better performance, and never sees himself as part of the problem. In response to criticism, the only answer is an indignant “Oh, come on! Without me, nothing would work here!” Later, President Knabe gets worked up:
I want to drink from this cup – And woe to you if you are the reason I cannot drink from this damn cup at the end.
Mr. Knabe, President of Eintracht Spandau
With this, the president draws the wrath upon himself. The “fans” think this has gone too far, as can be seen from their reactions – because they see Mr. Knabe as the problem.
“Knabe out! Knabe out!”
HandOfBlood gives real press conferences as Mr. Knabe in front of hundreds of live fans in large halls, such as at gamescom 2022 – the first general assembly of the club. The discontent of the fans about the defeats can be heard well there. They see the boss as a misfit, chant: “Knabe out!” and boo him.
President Knabe warns: “Anyone who boos here will be immediately thrown out of Hall 6!” However, this does not prevent the fans from expressing their anger, which in turn leads to an outburst from the boss: “You should shut up!”
The whole video of the annual review with the staged drama, victories and defeats, a janitor with a double life as a LoL pro for the competition, scuffles on stage, and a lot of shouting can be seen here:

The production quality of the videos is enormous. For the latest video, HandOfBlood has hired the speaker from Galileo, Nina Breiter. The former Rocket Beans employee Nastassja Strobel now works as a press spokesperson for Eintracht Spandau, and there was even a trip to Korea to the headquarters of Riot – there HandOfBlood was, however, as his alter ego “Sparkassen-Hänno” (via YouTube).
HandOfBlood has even organized a travel bus for Eintracht Spandau and made a YouTube video about it.
This is the reception: The response is overwhelmingly positive. A user praises on YouTube:
After such a successful first year, making a video parody about the supposed crisis and casting a speaker from Galileo for it, that can only be done by you. Here, attention to detail is truly real.
Under many of the videos, one reads similarly positive comments and praise. Everyone feels entertained by the ideas and appreciates the effort that goes into the productions.
Even the enraged fans in Hall 6 at gamescom were not resentful – especially since everyone was just booing in their role as “angry ultras”. The general assembly ended with the club anthem of Eintracht Spandau. The whole hall sang along, many proudly with their hand on their heart.
For Eintracht Spandau, things are looking fairly good. In the Super Prime Cup, referred to in the video as the “Winter Cup”, the LoL team won the first 3 games in Group H without a loss.
While Eintracht Spandau can score with a lot of entertainment and new victories, the situation looks less rosy for other pros in Germany:
The beta of Street Fighter 6 has started and allows fans to create their own fighters. However, it quickly became clear that the character creator offers players much more freedom than they expected.
This is Street Fighter 6: The latest game in the popular beat-’em-up series Street Fighter mixes gameplay with new modes and an open world. For example, players will be able to navigate a city with their created character and fight their way to the top of street fighters or play the story.
The first beta test started on Friday, October 7, and runs until Monday, October 10. Fans of the series can try many features of the upcoming fighting game over the weekend. One of them is the character editor, which is currently causing much amusement in parts of the gaming community (header image by @ViewtifulJimm).

“No one told me Street Fighter 6 is a horror game”
This is what players are doing: The developer of Street Fighter 6, Capcom, has frequently released games with a character editor in the past. The most famous example would be Monster Hunter: World, which has sold excellently.
But none was as detailed and versatile as the creator of Street Fighter 6. Just a few hours after the beta launch, the first images of completely crazy-looking characters circulated on the internet.

The video showcases the many possibilities of the character creator.
The editor offers countless customization options that go to absurd lengths. There are the usual adjustments that you find in many other games, like facial features, body size, hairstyles, etc.
The catch with the creator is, however, that all these adjustments can be scaled completely independently of each other. This means, for instance, that you can put an extremely large head on a small body or have the character have very muscular legs with a thin upper body. Proportions do not need to be adhered to.
Here are some examples of the creations:

On Reddit and social media, players joke that these characters could easily come straight out of a horror game.
“This is more Saints Row than the last Saints Row” – @Cheeky_Freeky
“Can I build a character that looks like Crash Bandicoot?” – @ItsNotakin
“I can’t believe they managed to create a character creator that’s more chaotic than Ark Survival Evolved.” – @VictoryVictini4
All in all, players are definitely having fun with the first feature of Street Fighter 6 that they can try in the beta. By the end of the test on Monday, we will surely find even more such creations on the internet.

By the way, there was a similar situation at the release of Elden Ring:
Absolutely insane! Just over an hour after the new WotLK raids opened in WoW Classic, the first guilds have already taken them all down. Their secret weapon: Death Knights.
Who got the First Kills? Exactly one hour, 4 minutes and 19 seconds after the opening of Naxxramas, the Obsidian Sanctum, and the Eye of Eternity, the European Horde guild BEEF BAR from the Gehennas server has taken down all 3 raids. This made them just seconds faster than the competition:
Progress (Alliance, Firemaw EU) – 1h 5min 56s
Statement (Horde, Venoxis EU) – 1h 11min 23s
Noobs (Horde, 震地者 China) – 1h 14min 33s
The raids opened exactly at midnight, and just over an hour later, the Race to World First for all three instances was already over. Statement, in 3rd place, is also the best German guild. For comparison:
How did they do it? All top guilds relied on Death Knights, the new class in WotLK. The plate wearers are among the strongest DPS classes currently. While some guilds used a mix of Frost and Unholy Death Knights, BEEF BAR used 10 Unholy Death Knights.
Their special ability to summon a Gargoyle was, according to calculations from wowhead, responsible for over 19 million damage points alone. In addition, the guilds utilized several game mechanics:
World buffs like Sayge’s Dark Fortune of Damage from the Darkmoon Faire and Soul Resurrection
“Bootsweaving” and “Gloveweaving”
An early trailer for WotLK Classic introduces the new Death Knight class:

Whoever wants to play the new class in WoW WotLK Classic should start today
The “weaving” mechanics are about exploiting engineering. With the profession, you can give gloves and boots special abilities. The players brought several pairs of these to chain the abilities together.
Of course, a large portion of experience comes into play. Wrath of the Lich King is 14 years old, and many players have practiced on private servers for years or farmed the instances solo. Accordingly, no one had to relearn the strategies.
The community is annoyed by the elitist thoughts of many players in WoW Classic and calls for enjoying WotLK in peace instead. Nevertheless, the performance of the guilds is impressive.
What’s next? After the opening of Naxxramas, the Obsidian Sanctum, and the Eye of Eternity, further phases with content will follow:
Ulduar
Trial of the Crusader and Onyxia’s Lair as well as the Argent Tournament.
Icecrown Citadel and further heroic dungeons
Ruby Sanctum
However, we don’t know exactly when these phases will appear. Concrete dates are still missing.
If you missed the big release, that’s not a problem. As you can see, a ton of new content is still coming, and those who want to join later actually have some advantages:
Shortly after the launch of Overwatch 2, Blizzard released a new animated short film. Here, Kiriko is introduced, the new healer of the hero shooter. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus experienced a rollercoaster of emotions while watching.
Blizzard has always been great at storytelling. The quality may have declined somewhat recently (I’m looking at you, Shadowlands), but the latest cinematic shows that Blizzard still has it.
When a friend showed me the video about the new hero Kiriko last night, I initially didn’t want to watch it. And oh boy! That would have been a mistake!
Early on, the scene where Kiriko communicates in sign language with an apparently deaf girl warms my heart. The girl’s laughter as she receives a big gift is just adorable.
Soon after, Kiriko explains to her concerned mother, who is first vacuuming in her “student apartment,” that she is having donuts for dinner. It reminds me a bit of anecdotes from the past and makes me laugh.
I don’t want to spoil too much, but those who have played Kiriko in Overwatch 2 know her abilities. Her ultimate makes team members faster and wilder. And… let’s just say, when a grandpa, who was just shot, and a possibly 6-year-old girl storm at gangsters like berserkers with fire axes and brooms, you can only laugh:

“They need to make an Overwatch movie”
Just a few hours after release, the English version of the video alone has garnered over 140,000 likes on YouTube and dozens of comments about the quality. Users praise: “These animated shorts are always a pleasure.”
Many fans are calling for more of this. The quality of Blizzard’s cinematics has been renowned for over 15 years and there are constant demands for a Netflix series in this style. The LoL series Arcane was indeed a tremendous success.
However, not every fan is satisfied with the video. Some criticize that everything in Overwatch could be explained scientifically – only the Japanese heroes have magic from somewhere. Others are irritated that while the film is great, it can’t distract from the current issues.
The fact that a video now brings more joy to the game is probably not helpful. It’s a shame because Overwatch 2 is really worth it. I realized this already in the beta and was able to confirm it during the preview:
With patch 6.2 of Final Fantasy XIV, players got their own island to manage. Many of them wish for more customization options to make their island more personal.
What kind of island is it? The island paradise is a new content that was implemented with the latest content update. There, they can tame animals, build structures, grow plants, and generally just relax and grind.
Basically, players who take their time enjoy it. Others who tried to rush the content seem to be frustrated with the repeated grind. […] For the future, we will consider player feedback, but for now, I’m just relieved to hear that the content is well-received.
Naoki Yoshida to MeinMMO
This player wish exists: Although only a little more than a month has passed since the release of the island paradise, there are already player wishes for the future of the content. One of the biggest, according to Yoshida, is personal customization of the island.
Currently, the individual islands differ minimally from each other, for example by the arrangement and quantity of various buildings or by the animals that players keep on their island.
Here, however, there is a wish for more uniqueness, similar to housing, which can be designed completely free and creatively by the players.
There is player feedback that they want to design the island paradise more freely, so that their individual island stands out. We suspected that this would happen, but it is very difficult to implement.
Currently, we are trying to allow players to place their housing items for the garden on the island as well. We do not have a release date for this feature yet, but we are working hard.
Naoki Yoshida in the developer stream
Yoshida has emphasized in the past that the island paradise is not the same as housing, which is highly sought after and constantly in short supply in FFXIV. Therefore, players should not expect the same features to be available on the island.
The island content will be expanded with upcoming patches. Yoshida has already mentioned that the team is working on new areas to create more space for buildings. Completely new types of buildings are also in development (via Fanbyte).
So fans of the island can look forward to new content.
What’s coming up soon: The next update of the MMORPG is just around the corner, even though it will be a bit smaller than the major main updates. Patch 6.25 will go live on October 18 and primarily brings the now-traditional “Relic” weapons.
These are weapons that are constantly improved throughout the addon and will temporarily be the strongest weapons in the game (at least until the release of the next addon).
They are usually accompanied by a quest line that tells its own story, and in Endwalker, it is related to the popular character Hildibrand Manderville. However, although he is celebrated by large parts of the community, some players were not happy with this decision.
To unlock the quest for the new weapons, players must complete the entire quest line of Hildibrand starting with the base game “A Realm Reborn.”
When we create new content for weapon upgrades, we first set the rules for how the upgrade will work. After often working on such weapon upgrades in the past, we found that players prefer their weapon upgrades to be story-based and not heavily tied to game content.
As a result, Hildibrand was chosen. I also feel that a funny upgrade quest will provide a completely new experience (laughs).
Naoki Yoshida to MeinMMO
What’s coming up in the distant future: After 6.25, FFXIV players can expect a smaller 6.28 patch, and then it continues towards the next major content update with the number 6.3. If the development team keeps their release schedule, it should arrive in December.
While the exact contents are still unknown, players can look forward to the continuation of FFXIV’s main story, which revolves around the new character Zero.
Since Zero is a new character, we are very relieved to see that she is very popular with the community. Her story has just begun, and her development and past will be revealed in upcoming patches.
Naoki Yoshida to MeinMMO.
Aside from that, players can expect the next part of the 24-man raid, new dungeons, trials, and additional content.
In addition, Yoshida announced that the FFXIV Fan Festivals will take place physically again in 2023 and 2024. There, the 10th anniversary of the reboot “A Realm Reborn” will be celebrated.
How do you find the island paradise so far? Would you like more freedom in design or is it good as it is?
You will find the best talents in the positions LB and RB as well as LWB and RWB in FIFA 23. We will show you young and inexpensive full-backs with high potential.
This is what talents bring to FIFA 23 Career Mode:Strong talents are important for success in FIFA Career. Here you’ll find young players who have a lot of potential and can improve through training and good performances to become world stars.
Full-backs play an important role within the team: they need to prevent goals and be particularly fast on the flanks to keep up with quick wingers. Additionally, it is their job to prepare attacks through quick counter-attacks.
Therefore, it is essential that they can handle the ball well and are skilled in dribbling. However, full-backs who meet all these requirements are correspondingly expensive.
That’s why we show you talents in RB and LB positions who have great potential and will continue to improve over time.
If you buy the right talents, they can become absolute key players in FIFA 23 Career Mode However, please keep in mind the following:
Potential is dynamic. It depends on your training and the performances how much a player can exploit his potential.
You can retrain players. For example, defensive midfielders can become attacking players if you believe they are better suited there.
The market value is not fixed. You can also try to convince your counterpart of a cheaper transfer.
Best full-back talents with the greatest potential in career mode
The selection criteria: Here you’ll find young full-backs with the greatest potential. They are at most 23 years old and thus have plenty of time for development. However, the list also includes established top stars who are correspondingly expensive.
We’ll show you true full-back bargains further down in the post.
Wrath of the Lich King, the new expansion for WoW Classic, has been out for just over a week. But what if you’re only now getting started? That’s absolutely not a problem. On the contrary: right now is actually ideal, because you enjoy numerous advantages.
On September 27, WotLK Classic launched, probably the most popular expansion of World of Warcraft for the second time. Since then, tens of thousands of players have been regularly returning to Northrend to confront the Lich King and the Scourge.
You might get the impression that Wrath of the Lich King is already dead just a few days after release, but appearances can be deceiving.
The first ship ever to Northrend was so full that it should have sunk. We were there:

At the release of WotLK Classic, hundreds of players are squeezing onto a boat and I am right in the middle
Why should I start now? The percentage of players who have already reached level 80 is relatively low. There are still thousands who are actively leveling. This may even apply to the larger part of the player base:
You’ll still reach level 80 quickly enough to join guilds for dungeons and raids.
Expect about 4-6 hours needed per level.
Here you can find all areas in WotLK and their recommended levels. The famous Gate of Wrath can be played in Dragonblight. Here’s the legendary cinematic:

WOW WotLK Classic: Die Pforte des Zorns
Those who played right at release had to fight with hundreds of other players for quest mobs and more. Sometimes literally. Because in WotLK, an enemy only counts for you if you or a member of your group dealt damage to it first.
Although Blizzard has significantly adjusted the spawn rates of many enemies, there were still a few bottlenecks – especially with quests that only one character can turn in before the corresponding NPC is unresponsive for several minutes.
The only disadvantage: If you start now, you still have to deal with huge queues on the large servers. However, smaller servers can usually be entered without waiting.
Tip: Razorfen and Lakeshire (both PvE) or Patchwerk (PvP) should be relatively trouble-free on German realms. You can later switch to larger realms with paid server transfers.
What about dungeons? Dungeon groups are still forming, as there are enough players who couldn’t play through due to commitments and work. Accordingly, there are many offers in the new group finder tool of WotLK Classic.
Only tanks are still in short supply, and some players take advantage of this by offering their services for gold. If you play a class that can tank, don’t hesitate to try it.
There are some hardcore players who are only looking for the optimal group, but often it’s smarter to just team up with strangers. You might take a few minutes longer, but the search is significantly shorter, and you’ll meet new people.
Another advantage of starting now is the market. On most realms, prices in the auction house for most items have already stabilized and fluctuate only a little. Therefore, you won’t have to buy support items and more at inflated prices.
At the same time, demand is still so high that you can still quickly sell herbs, ores, and whatever you find while leveling. This way, you can build a comfortable financial cushion so that you can learn flying in Northrend starting from the appropriate level.
The only thing you can’t do anymore to make “quick gold” is to be among the first miners, blacksmiths, or tailors of the realm who can demand exorbitant prices for their work. Those who would pay that much money probably already have everything they need.
However, if you get lucky and find a rare item, it can indeed bring you gold in the three- or four-digit range. By the way, with WotLK Classic, there’s a small change that makes leveling a lot more enjoyable:
But then the tone suddenly changes. Apparently, someone in his chat dared to say that he was begging for money. The streamer is angry:
“You think this is begging? I’m explaining to you guys how to save money! If I wanted to make more money, I would drop the combo for you guys and then I’d get the 50, when they are only worth a minute, and then more subs – you need to understand how math works, okay? You can’t argue with math. […] It’s just insane. Stop begging… I’m begging you guys to save money. For heaven’s sake. So stupid, just ban the guy. If your IQ is that low, you shouldn’t be chatting.”

Streamer pulls viewers into his boat like in Stockholm syndrome
This is how it’s discussed: On LivestreamFails, people are discussing the clip. Many wonder why anyone watches a streamer who behaves like this:
“He asks for subs 24/7. I see so many comments in the chat from people saying: ‘This is all I can afford. I swear’ – as if people are afraid to stop subbing.
“I had 300,000 points in the channel – before the scamathon. I really liked the guy. But he’s been begging for 2 months now and exploiting the chat. He says stuff like ‘The night viewers are so selfish, just wait for the day shift, you guys.'”
“I would equate the feeling of watching him to the situation: If you’re at a friend’s house and he starts arguing with his mother.”
It almost seems like the streamer is running a strange Stockholm syndrome with his chat:
It seems that viewers let a streamer get away with anything as long as they follow his internal logic to keep the stream running.
It should be noted that “subs” is not a clearly visible value, as are other metrics from Twitch.

The Twitch streamer SHiFT is known for his speed runs in games. In his streams, he often emphasizes how important it is for his viewers to support him financially with subs. Through various mechanics and techniques such as subathons with combos and timers, he boosts his income. A clip from such an incident is being heavily discussed, but apparently, the method works.
Who is this?
The YouTuber and Twitch streamer SHiFT has been on Twitch since 2014. He has about 100,000 followers – when he streams, an average of 370 people watch him.
He has played the game “SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom” the most, where he is also active as a speedrunner.
Although SHiFT has relatively few viewers, he ranks 18th on the platform in the “subs” category. With 26,338 subs, he is just behind German Twitch streamers like MontanaBlack (15) or ELoTRiX (16).
Continuous streaming as a subathon significantly boosts earnings
This clip has gone viral: A Twitch clip of SHiFT has now gone viral. He was playing Family Guy at the time. He was in a so-called “subathon”: this form of streaming made Ludwig popular, the streamer is live with a timer. When the timer runs out, the stream ends, but the paying subs from the viewers extend the stream.
The subathon by SHiFT has already lasted more than 1,488 hours.
A “sub” costs $4.99 a month in the USA – less in Germany. The streamer himself receives about half, the rest goes to Twitch. Subs are monthly subscriptions, so they must be renewed constantly. Customers with Amazon Prime receive one free subscription per month that they can give away.
On his screen, the complex rules and special rules of the subathon are explained:
When players donate a sub, the stream extends by 1 minute and 30 seconds
However, if a round number of subs is reached within a certain timer, an additional sub is worth 2 minutes
And at some point, this timer will run out
Subs are a central element of Twitch to earn money:
The streamer himself sounds in the clip, which is later criticized, like a fishmonger trying to sell his goods:
“It’s 5 subs. 5 subs, then we have 50. 50 at the 2-minute multiplier. We need 5 subs. 5 subs in about a minute. We have one minute left, guys.”
Subs are based on information that pages scrape from the streamers themselves and analyze.

Today, on October 8, 2022, the Raid Day with Mega-Gyarados starts in Pokémon GO. We show you all the details you need to know about the event, including the time, bonuses, and shinies, as well as tips for maximum raid passes.
What kind of event is this? A Raid Day focuses on boss battles in Pokémon GO gyms. For a limited time, you will see significantly more raids for selected Pokémon that you can participate in. For these battles, Niantic provides you with raid passes and there is also an additional bonus.
On October 8, Mega-Gyarados is the focus of the event, and trainers have already shared tricks on how to increase the yield of free raid passes.
Update: The article was originally published on October 7 and updated on October 8. As Niantic’s support informs, the Raid Day started earlier than planned in the early time zones. To prevent any disadvantage, the event has now been extended in all regions from 3 hours to 6 hours. The new start is already at 11:00 AM. The event will be active until 5:00 PM.
Event with Mega-Gyarados – All about the Raid Day in October
When does it start? The Raid Day starts today at 11:00 AM local time. The event will last six hours and end at 5:00 PM local time. During this time, you will find many raids with Mega-Gyarados. Use our overview of the best counters against Mega-Gyarados for your raids.
Originally, the event was supposed to start at 2:00 PM. But an error caused the developers to start the event in all regions at 11:00 AM and run it as usual until 5:00 PM. Niantic announced this in a tweet .
The bonuses: The following bonuses are mentioned by Niantic in the official blog post:
You will receive up to five additional raid passes for free if you spin the photo discs at gyms.
The chance of encountering a shiny Gyarados is increased.
Shiny Gyarados: With luck, you will encounter shiny Gyarados after a raid. A shiny version of this Pokémon is highly sought after by trainers because its appearance is very appealing.
The fact that the chances of getting a shiny for this raid event are increased is a reason for many trainers to participate. At least to use the free passes that are given as gifts. Maybe you will get lucky and secure a shiny version.
Today, on October 7, the new “Road to the Knockouts” event starts in FIFA 23. We will show you the team and what you can expect in the new event regarding the Champions League & Co.
When does the event start? The event has been live since today, Friday, October 7 at 19:00, lasts exactly one week, and replaces the OTW event.
What is the event about? “Road to the Knockouts” is a FIFA event that introduces dynamic special cards into the game, which can get better over time.
To receive the upgrades, players’ teams must progress further in the European competitions Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.
The exact requirements are as follows:
On one hand, the cards get better when the players qualify for the knockout phase in their respective tournament.
On the other hand, there are upgrades for 2 wins in the next 3 group stage matches.
What special cards are included in the event, we will take a closer look at here.
Road to the Knockouts – All new dynamic special cards
Here you can take a look at the complete team:
This is the team: The first team has some really strong cards to offer. There are strong cards for Lionel Messi (92), Aubameyang (89), Foden (88), and Thomas Müller (88). But the new dynamic cards of Süle (87), Odegaard (86), and Konaté (85) also look impressive.
Especially when considering that they can become even stronger.
What other content is there? In addition to the RTTK team that will be found in FIFA packs, there are two more RTTK cards:
LAV: Robert Gosens (84) – Unlockable through weekly tasks.
RF: Kulusevski (85) – Available via SBC (Squad Building Challenge).
If you’re still looking for a strong formation for your team, then take a look here:
Destiny 2 has already spotted Xur and is therefore expecting the arrival of the curious Exo vendor and emissary of the Nine with tentacles on his face today. MeinMMO tells you where to find him and what he has to offer.
Anyone wanting to complete a Grandmaster Nightfall needs a power level of 1595 to even start the activity. If you already have a much higher power level, you can no longer take advantage of that in this mode.
In Season 18, the power level requirement for Grandmasters is 1620, and due to the competitive mode, every player is harshly and automatically limited to 1595 power level. A minus that presents a considerable challenge, as you can be taken out with almost anything in one shot and cover is essential.
In addition, there are two nerfs that will make it a little harder for players in the future. One is that the popular sword advantage from the perk “Swordmaster” has been adjusted. It previously granted players significant speed boosts. However, the effect has also been coldly exploited and abused to bypass game mechanics and annoy teammates.
But the bitterest realization this week was certainly that Bungie has put the Divinity on the future nerf list. What exactly is planned, we have summarized for you in an article update:
All information about Xur on October 7, 2022 – PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia
When does Xur come? The exotic vendor visits Destiny 2 every Friday at 7 PM. Anyone who still has gaps in their Exotic collection anticipates his arrival, as he is the easiest way to get Exotics. It only costs you a round trip and some materials as payment.
Where is Xur? This is his location for the weekend
Xur’s location: Each week, Xur can be found at a different location. So you never know exactly where to meet him.
However, Xur is located again this weekend in the Tower in the Hangar.
Xur is in the Tower.
Xur’s inventory from October 7 – October 11 – All Exotics at a glance
What does Xur have to offer? As the chosen Exotic vendor of the “Nine”, a mysterious group in Destiny 2, Xur delivers new weapons and armor to players weekly on their behalf. All characters, including Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans, can shop with him. Whether you are new to the game or an experienced Guardian, his goods are guaranteed to be better than the offer from Spider.
This week he is selling you the following items:
Xur’s shopping offer for the weekend for all Guardians
Exotic Weapon: Two-Tailed Fox – Rocket launcher for 29 Legendary Shards
Nexxoss Gaming shows you the complete offer from Xur in the video.
Legendary Armor Set: Players can be opulent because the old armor set from Calus’s Menagerie “Opulent Pursuit” is now available at Xur. It looks particularly stylish on female Guardians and can be adorned with purple jewels, even if the armor stats are rather lackluster.
Our buying recommendation: The Wormhusk Crown. Its stats are okay, and the exotic can be used in some Hunter builds because it is versatile and grants you health and an overshield.
Xur also sells Legendary items and offers unique rolls for Exotics from no longer available exotic missions from previous DLCs each week. However, note: You can only buy the weapons if you own the corresponding expansion.
You can only shop for the DLC Exotics if you own the expansion.

The exotic scout rifle “The Story of a Dead Man” (Beyond Light) with the perk “All Good Things Come in Threes”
Prices for the weapons: For these two exotics, the cost is 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher, 125,000 Glimmer, and 200 Legendary Shards each.

For several weeks, the chess world has been in turmoil. At the center of it all is Hans Niemann, a 19-year-old grandmaster and Twitch streamer, who has been under suspicion of cheating since a game against Magnus Carlsen.
The situation in brief – Since Niemann managed to surprisingly defeat the reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen a few weeks ago, there have been speculations that he may have cheated during the game.Carlsen raised an initial suspicion after his defeat with a Twitter post . Shortly thereafter, the world champion withdrew from a tournament after the opponents had faced each other in an early round.
Niemann maintains his innocence in the matter but admitted in an interview that he had cheated in two online games as a teenager. The media attention has since led to Chess.com, one of the largest platforms for online chess, conducting an investigation into Niemann’s professional career. In a 72-page report, irregularities were found in over 100 of Niemann’s games. Even the World Chess Federation FIDE announced an investigation into the incidents.
Participation in the tournament only under strict security measures
What is being done – The cheating scandal has also had an impact on the organizers of the US Chess Championship 2022 in St. Louis. To prevent further controversies ahead of the tournament, security measures have been significantly increased. The tournament administration in St. Louis aimed to ensure the integrity of the results.
In addition to metal detectors, which are common at such tournaments, devices for monitoring radio frequencies were used this time. This was intended to prevent players from receiving instructions from outside individuals in this manner. As another measure, an expert was on-site to monitor the individual games.
You can watch the entire security procedure in the linked Twitch clip. There you can also see how Hans Niemann is being checked. The security team is particularly thorough with the grandmaster: he is scanned from head to toe and even has to turn around. His facial expression indicates that he doesn’t particularly appreciate the measures.

How the first match went – The organizers believe that Niemann deserves to participate in the tournament despite the allegations against him. Under the watchful eyes of the tournament administration, the controversial professional was finally able to compete in his match. Niemann managed to defeat Christopher Yoo, also a chess grandmaster. Just like in his match against Carlsen, he played with black.
When asked about the allegations after the game, Niemann stated that his game would speak for him. The won game would show what kind of chess player he is and that he would not stop, regardless of the pressure he faces. When the interviewer then wanted to specifically ask him about his last match, Niemann abruptly ended the interview. “You can interpret it however you want. It was a beautiful game, I don’t need to describe it any further.”
Niemann wants his performances to speak for themselves, but his behavior is likely to raise further questions. The final word in this matter is likely not yet spoken.
If you want to compare your gear in WoW Classic, you either have to do a lot of calculations or rely on addons. This also applies to the new expansion Wrath of the Lich King. MeinMMO explains what such addons can do for you and how to use them.
What is Gearscore? The term Gearscore colloquially refers to the “strength” of the equipment a character is wearing. The value is calculated from various attributes of your armor and weapons.
Closely related is the item level of items. Basically, there are two main applications for Gearscore and item levels:
WotLK is incredibly popular among tens of thousands of players. Just the first ship to Northrend in the middle of the night was packed:
Start video
At the release of WotLK Classic, hundreds of players are squeezing onto a boat and I am right in the middle
Why do I need an addon for this? In Retail WoW, you can easily read the numbers from the equipment; in WotLK Classic, however, the value is hidden. The strength of items is only evident from their attributes, and not everyone wants to do constant calculations.
Gearscore addons take this work off your hands and show you a simple number indicating how “good” an item really is.
TacoTip – Gearscore addon, easy to install and use
Which addon should I use? TacoTip is the currently most common addon for gear scores and item levels in WotLK Classic. The operation is quite simple: After installation, you will see the score and the average item level of players as well as the individual item level directly on the items in the tooltip.
To install, you just need to extract the file in your WoW folder under /_classic_/Interface/Addons or use an addon manager. We recommend WoWUp for addons in WoW as an alternative to Curse.
This is what item tooltips (above) and character tooltips (below) look like with TacoTip.
TacoTip offers you some settings. For example, you can turn on and off what exactly is displayed to you in the tooltip, including:
Name, title, guild, and rank of the character
Target, faction, and health bar
Class colors
Gearscore and equipped item level of the character
Individual item level directly on items
We recommend the default settings. These provide you with the most important information. However, keep in mind that a higher item level is not always better. As you play longer, you’ll develop a better feeling for items and can rely on experience to properly compare items. Don’t hesitate to ask other players for help.
