Larian Studios prevented a problem in Baldur’s Gate 3 that would affect one of the most useful spells in the game with a cruel trick.
What is that problem? In Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3), there are some powerful spells. One particularly useful spell is ‘Speak with Dead’, which allows you to have brief conversations with a deceased person. This way, you can obtain interesting information from an NPC who has already seen the lilies from below.
However, ‘Speak with Dead’ posed a problem for BG3 developer Larian Studios because if you could speak with literally every dead NPC and obtain important information, the spell would be simply too powerful – and moreover, you would need even more dialogue lines than Baldur’s Gate 3 already offers.
As Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios, revealed in an interview with Todd Kenreck of Wizards of the Coast, the developers employed a small but brutal trick to balance the spell.

Without a head, one cannot speak
What is that trick? According to Vincke, Larian followed the simple principle: ‘You can speak with any dead person who still has their head’ and elaborated: ‘So if you see many decapitated people in the game, we literally did it that way. That’s our cheat (via YouTube).’
Deceased NPCs that you shouldn’t be able to speak with died too brutally to provide you with information. They are headless and cannot respond to you.
To further balance ‘Speak with Dead’, you can ask a corpse a maximum of 5 questions. Additionally, a dead person may not want to speak to you if you are their murderer.
Who can use the spell? ‘Speak with Dead’ is a 3rd-level spell that can be learned by bards, warlocks, and clerics like Shadowheart.
In addition, the ‘Amulet of Lost Voices’ grants you the ability to speak with a corpse once per day. You can already find this piece of jewelry in Act 1 in the Moldy Crypt.
In the interview with Todd Kenreck, Swen Vincke also spoke about a spell that did not make it into the role-playing game and explained why the team decided against it:

What are golden PokéStops?
Why do the stops appear? In Pokémon GO, golden PokéStops occasionally shine since the start of the event A Paldea Adventure. This is a special bonus that you receive as part of the current event.
The stops are directly connected to the Paldea region, which is currently being featured. The little ghost Pokémon Gierspenst (Wanderform) is on the hunt for golden coins that it wants to find with your help at the golden PokéStops.
Due to the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet for the Nintendo Switch, players could already find golden PokéStops in the game in November 2022, after the C-Day Classic with Dratini and were even followed by Gierspenst. Now these special PokéStops are back and bring some rewards again.

Will the stops remain permanently in the game? No, according to current information, the golden PokéStops only remain for the duration of the Paldea event and the subsequent event Hyperbonus: Paldea. They will disappear on September 15, 2023, at 8:00 PM local time, and can then only be recolored with the help of golden lure modules.
Do you get Gierspenst and golden coins from the stops?
What do you get at the golden PokéStops? If you discover a golden stop, you should definitely spin it. With a bit of luck, you can secure golden coins for Gierspenst.
In addition, you have the opportunity to receive a whole bunch of items. It is therefore a good chance to replenish your stock of balls, berries, potions, and revives after the global GO Fest.

Astarion is one of the first companions you can add to your party or play as an Origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3. As a vampire, he can bite enemies on command. But he can also bite his own companions. And their funny reactions are definitely worth the small nibble.
How can you bite your party members? Once you know about Astarion’s true nature as a vampire, the “Bite” action appears on his action hotbar. With this, you can bite a desired target once per short rest – the hit rate is 100%.
The victim takes two W4 piercing damage, while Astarion gains two W4 hit points and receives the buff “Happy”. This gives him +1 on attribute checks and saving throws. “Bite” also works outside of combat and with your party members. However, since not every one of your companions reacts positively, we recommend a quick save with F5 before you throw yourselves at their neck.
From “inappropriate” to poisoning – how your companions react to the bite
How do the fellow inhabitants react? Very differently. Warlock Wyll comments on the action dryly with “inappropriate”. Lae’zel also does not find the action particularly good and ends it with an annoyed “enough!” A bite on Karlach’s neck, however, puts Astarion directly on fire, which she then amusingly comments: “What did you expect?”
When Shadowheart first learns of Astarion’s nature, she jokingly suggests putting a bell on him. However, when you bite her, she noticeably annoyed remarks that you are on the same side.

Astarion suspects Gale’s blood would surely be like a good brandy. However, if you bite the wizard from Waterdeep, Astarion receives the “poisoned” debuff and complains that Gale tastes like bile. The latter reprimands the vampire and dryly requests to be asked next time.
However, caution is advised: If you lay hands on dog Scratch or the owlbear cub with Astarion, all of your comrades see that as an immediate declaration of war. Weapons are drawn, initiative is rolled!

Larian Studios has announced the preload for Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5. Unlike the PC version, you can download the massive game 3 days before the release. The version will likely be somewhat more polished than at release on Steam and GOG.
The most important information about the preload:
The preload starts on August 31 for buyers of the Digital Deluxe Edition and on September 4 for the Standard Edition, both at 18:00 German time (16:00 UTC).
The game is a classic RPG where you create your own character or take on a pre-made “Origin”. After a parasite is implanted in your head, you fight against a kind of higher power and try to prevent it from consuming the world.
You are not alone in this, but have many companions who support you. Battles are turn-based, and tactics and planning are important for a victory here. Additionally, the world is full of NPCs with whom you can talk, interact, and trade.
Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5 – Multiplayer, Crossplay and Cross-Save
You can play Baldur’s Gate 3 either alone or in co-op with up to 3 players. On PS5, you have the option to play in split-screen or couch co-op with one player. Additional players can then join online.
There will be no crossplay between PC and PS5, but you can transfer your save data from the PC version to the PS5 if you own both versions. You can find more about this in our article on crossplay and cross-progression.
Despite the praise, many players repeatedly report bugs in Baldur’s Gate 3, primarily in the later parts of the game and especially in Act 3. The developers have been rolling out hotfixes since release to fix bugs and improve features.
Many of these hotfixes will likely already be included in the PS5 version or come directly with a Day-1 patch. Additionally, the developers are already working on the first two “real” patches that should fix even more bugs:

In 2022, the American publisher Annapurna Games wowed the world with the cat game ‘Stray’ and gathered a ton of positive reviews on Steam. It currently holds a 97% positive rating there and has 62,000 players since release (via steamdb.info).
Now the studio has planned a new project: the adaptation of the popular cat game ‘Stray’ in a cyberpunk setting. They want to maintain the unique perspective of the game and take on the challenge of turning the game into a story worthy of film.

This game revolves around what makes us human and features no humans in it. It’s a buddy comedy about a cat and a robot, and there’s such a funny dynamic. So there’s comedy in this film, but there’s not a single human in it.
I think that’s one of the reasons why the game was incredibly popular, that you see the world through the perspective of a charming cat. How did they achieve that, and how are we going to implement it in the film?
We will make it happen, even if it sometimes seems impossible, but we know that that’s the essence of the game and the key to the narrative.
The developers have described Stray as ‘a kind of “Hopepunk” vibe’, explains Baird. It possesses a narrative concept in which optimism is a form of resistance. He loves the term “Hopepunk”. He believes it will be the first and greatest “Hopepunk film” ever made if the studio does justice to the adaptation.
‘Stray’ is the first title the studio is taking on for adaptation. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the second management of Annapurna Animation, Andrew Millstein, explains the reasons for choosing the game:
Firstly, it’s just unbelievably popular. People engage with the game for various reasons, and I think for us at Annapurna, who work with various creative people, it’s a mystery. What makes this game so popular?

Overall, the return of ‘Necrochasm’ shows how the passion of Guardians and the fascination with powerful weapons can significantly influence the fate of Destiny 2.
Perhaps they wanted to ensure that the D1 returnee wouldn’t dominate everything right away. Especially since they know that the weapon had the potential to become one of the best primary weapons Destiny 2 has ever seen upon its return.
In PvP, however, ‘Necrochasm’ could face the same fate as the raid exotic from the ‘Glass Chamber’, the auto rifle ‘Vex Mythoclast’, which had to be reined in after a while of fun by a nerf.
While the future of ‘Necrochasm’ remains uncertain, this legendary Destiny 1 weapon will undoubtedly continue to generate buzz and dominate Crucible matches in Destiny 2 for a while.

The large overview map with all solar systems and the smaller maps of individual systems are the same for all players.
However, as soon as you approach a system or a planet’s orbit, random events can start. These events vary from player to player and also depend on what you have previously experienced in the game.
Larger points of interest (POI) like a space station are the same for all players. Only the random events make a difference in space.
Here, there are significantly more random places. As soon as you land somewhere on a planet, Starfield creates a huge area with resources, POIs, and plenty to discover for you.
