Navy CIS is probably one of the longest TV-series of all time, collecting many fans over 23 years. This is also due to the agents who have made their way into the hearts of the viewers. One of the most popular is now returning to the series.
Who is returning? In early July, it was announced that Michael Weatherly will return for the 24th season of NCIS (source: Deadline). He is known to fans as Tony DiNozzo. He made his debut in the series NCIS in the very first episode of the first season in 2003.
For 13 seasons he was part of the main cast and is also one of the fan favorites. This is mainly due to his relationship with Ziva David, played by Cote de Pablo. The two were even given their own series, but it did not end well.

What happened to his own series? In September 2025, the network CBS gave the two agents their own series. In NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the two agents were brought back together. Tony worked for a security company in the series, but due to an attack, the two had to flee with their daughter.
Although the series was well received by fans, it was announced in December 2025 that NCIS: Tony & Ziva would be canceled after only one season (source: Deadline).
Deadline asked CBS at the time of the announcement for the 24th season of NCIS whether Cote de Pablo will also return, or whether events from the spin-off will be changed retroactively. However, there was no confirmation on that.
When does season 24 of NCIS start in Germany? In the USA, the 24th season is expected to start in the fall and will regularly air on CBS and Paramount+. It is still unclear when the new season will start in Germany. Tony & Ziva was released simultaneously with the US release in Germany, but the 23rd season of NCIS was released later, after the US start.
