Patch 8.3 of World of Warcraft brings a new quest to the game that was previously hidden. It seems that peace is about to reign between the two factions …
The next update of World of Warcraft is just a few days away, as Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth will launch on January 15. Blizzard has now released a short video in advance and outlined the key features of the patch in a “Survival Guide”.
Attention was drawn to a small detail, which the dataminers thought was not included in the patch. It seems that peace is about to reign between Horde and Alliance.
What is it about? In the video from Blizzard, there is a brief mention at minute 4:23 that a quest has been implemented that “is moving towards a peace treaty between Alliance and Horde”. This quest was not playable on the PTR, although some of the text passages had been previously read by dataminers.
What else has been discovered? In addition to the confirmation of this quest line, there are also two small in-game cutscenes hidden in the game files. They are named:
- 8.3_[BEA]_Blood_War_Epilogue_Alliance_IGC
- 8.3 [BEH] Blood War Epilogue – Horde – IGC
It is thus clear that these cutscenes represent the epilogue, that is, the conclusion of the war. And what would be more fitting than the conclusion of a peace treaty?
What happens next with Horde and Alliance: Although both parties sign the treaty and thus the war is temporarily put on hold, there are changes within both Horde and Alliance. The Horde replaces the position of Warchief with a Council that will decide the fate of the Horde in the future.
In the Alliance, Tyrande is not very pleased with the peace and travels with her Night Warriors to the World Tree Nordrassil to hunt Sylvanas from there. She has turned away from Elune and openly questions the goddess.
What does this mean for the future? With the peace treaty, the foundation for the next expansion “Shadowlands” is laid. There will be little conflict between Alliance and Horde, instead, it will be about solving the issues in the Shadowlands. It is to be expected that the heroes of Horde and Alliance will cooperate from time to time.
What do you think about the fact that there will likely be peace between Horde and Alliance for the time being? Is this a good decision or does it shake a cornerstone of WoW?
