The First Descendant is a new loot shooter that plays like Warframe or Destiny in a sci-fi setting and generally resembles a child of the two games. A video featuring 17 minutes of gameplay has now been released. We also know that the next beta will start in September.
What kind of game is this? In the shooter, you can choose from at least 11 different characters, the so-called Descendants. Each of them has its own appearance and abilities. You can then fight against aliens with this character:
- You have the choice of different firearms and can use powerful abilities. The weapons can also be modified.
- You can play either alone or in co-op with up to 4 players.
- There are story content, raids, and boss fights on different difficulty levels.
- You can move with a grappling hook.
- Collecting loot, materials, and new equipment plays an important role.
- The game is in third-person perspective.
It is supposed to be a free-to-play game and comes from the Korean developer Nexon. The release is scheduled for Steam, PS4, and PS5 as well as Xbox One and Series X/S.

Beta starts on September 19
When is the beta? The open beta of The First Descendant starts on September 19 and runs until September 25. It will take place on all platforms simultaneously and will even offer crossplay. Nexon announced this during gamescom 2023.
It has now been revealed that 11 characters, 3 fields to fight, and over 50 different weapons will be available in the beta.
How can you participate in the beta? If you want to participate in the beta, you can sign up on the official website of the game. There you select your platform and provide your email address.
As a PC player, you will be redirected to the Steam page of The First Descendant to request beta access.
When is the release scheduled? No official release date has been announced yet. However, a release in 2024 is considered likely.
