It is time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in Two Minutes”. We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. Look forward to new details about housing and 11.2 of WoW as well as numerous updates on the MMORPGs in development. However, there has also been some unpleasant news.
The highlights of the week:
- Neighborhoods are a fixed feature of housing in World of Warcraft. Now we know many details and thus also new problems.
- The developers of World of Warcraft have revealed the key dates for the upcoming content patch “Ghosts of K’aresh” and the 3rd season of “The War Within”. The late start of the story mode of the new raid is not appreciated by every player.
- Patch 11.2 will be the final major content update for World of Warcraft: The War Within. MeinMMO has all the important details about the new patch summarized.
- A new trailer for World of Warcraft reveals a lot about the story of Patch 11.2. But it reveals even more about the players’ preferences.
- With Battles for Glory, a new Free2Play-MMORPG has appeared on Steam. The developer SEFOGU promises a classic RVR title in which factions fight for control of the world in large battles – similar to what is seen in Dark Age of Camelot, for example. The targeted release period is the 4th quarter of 2026.
- By the way, there is already a Battles for Glory 2 that can be played via bsfg.ru, which sees itself as an evolution of Lineage 2 and has been in development since 2007. The extent to which the two games are related is not entirely clear to us at the moment.
What else has happened? After 7 years of development, Microsoft has canceled the new MMORPG project from the studio behind Elder Scrolls Online. For MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz, this reflects a fundamental challenge for all developers of online role-playing games: The end of the Zenimax MMORPG frustratingly reveals the biggest problem of the genre.
