The Eternal Life of Goldman looks like a movie you might have watched as a child. However, it is actually a new game set to be released on Steam.
What kind of game is it? The Eternal Life of Goldman is a platform adventure by Weappy Games, the creators of This Is The Police 1 & 2 and Rebel Cops. The game will be available for PC on Steam as well as for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
The game weaves legends, fables, and myths into a story that transports the old Goldman to a hand-drawn archipelago. There, you need to find and defeat a mysterious deity.
In a video lasting about 8 minutes, the developers already show some initial gameplay. This comes from a demo version that was showcased at gamescom 2024.

What does the gameplay show? At first glance, The Eternal Life of Goldman looks like a classic 2D platformer. You move across the screen from left to right and must avoid various obstacles along the way.
The walking stick will likely be one of your most important tools. With it, you can grab onto rings or pull on them, creating new platforms or allowing your character to be carried over abysses. These mechanics can also be used in boss fights.
A game like an old cartoon
What makes the game so special? The probably biggest uniqueness of the game is its graphic style, reminiscent of old cartoons or animes. Everything – scenery, colors, animations – is drawn the old-fashioned way, frame by frame, and brought to life, the developers say.
Some of the creatures shown could easily come straight from a Ghibli film: like the tutorial ghosts that turn into text panels. The overall look of the game exudes pure nostalgia, from the individual designs of the characters to the drawing style as a whole.
When is the game set to be released? The Eternal Life of Goldman currently has neither a fixed date nor a rough release window.
