Here you can see a trailer of Limbus Company:
With your sinners, it’s time for a bus tour
What does the gameplay in Limbus Company look like? You are the Executive Manager of the Limbus Company and lead a group of 12 “Sinners“. With your bus, you travel through a dystopian city, in which you visit abandoned buildings of the company.
There, you are to collect so-called Golden Boughs. However, you will not be alone. Because besides you, dark creatures and corporate competitors are also after the goods.
The city is divided into 26 different areas where you perform missions. At the end of each mission, a dungeon awaits you, which varies depending on the Golden Bough.
Limbus Company takes place in the same universe as Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina.
In combat, the game mixes elements of turn-based RPGs with real-time brawl and is divided into different phases. You try to use the individual abilities of your team members as strategically as possible. You can also coordinate their attacks, so you deal even more damage.
The sinners are a colorful group full of personalities. They have their own backstories that you will get to know throughout the game.
You can play the game for free, but there are in-game purchases and a gacha system. A small note: German is not supported as a language in the game. You can play Limbus Company in English, Japanese, or Korean.
How do players rate Limbus Company? On Steam, the game is rated very positively. Of the total 2,761 ratings, 84% are good (as of February 28, 2023, via Steam).
Many players are enthusiastic about the story and the characters they meet in Limbus Company: However, it is mainly criticized that the game contains gacha mechanics. Some players, however, can overlook that:
- cafelattebiscuits: “So far, so good. The atmosphere of the story is just as good as in Library of Ruina. The gameplay is somewhat shallower compared to Ruina, but it is a mobile game and it is still early, but it is definitely not bad. Highly recommended if you have invested some time in Ruina or Lobotomy“.
- Is This Gonna Be A Problem?: “Incredibly detailed game, and it’s free. Although it’s a gacha game, I recommend it to fans of captivating stories or those who like to dive deep into combat systems“.
- Casey: “[…] I recommend playing Lobotomy Corporation first and then Library of Ruina, but the story and characters are entertaining even without the context, I think. You still miss the reasons and context for all the things in the story, but an attempt is made to enlighten you and make some things somewhat coherent for newcomers“.
How much does Limbus Company cost? You can get the game for free on Steam. The game is also available for download on Google Play and the App Store.
