Expeditions are one of the coolest features in Monster Hunter: World, and while all quests are available in multiplayer, you can only play the expeditions in co-op through roundabout methods.
- Expeditions are the only way to explore the maps without a time limit!
- There are 2 ways to play expeditions in multiplayer, but they are quite cumbersome
1. First quest, then explore
The first method is to tackle a quest together with your hunting partner. Decide beforehand where exactly you want to go on an expedition together, as this will determine which quest you should take.

So if you have completed a quest in the Ancient Forest together and now want to go on an expedition there, the group leader and all members must select the option “Return to camp with current group”.
This way, the players stay in the forest and can go on an exploration tour together.
However, it should be noted that the expedition ends as soon as the group leader returns to Astera or leaves the expedition in another way.
2. Send an SOS signal with the emergency flare
The second method is somewhat less reliable. For this, a player must start an expedition, and those who want to join should gather at the quest board.
The player then sends an emergency flare, and his companions must try to find him through it and join his session. This can take up to 5 minutes.
It is important to note that the expedition area has been unlocked for everyone. It must also not be the very first expedition that you have to complete in the story. Co-op mode seems impossible in that case.
