While many game publishers are raising prices, Capcom is announcing the opposite: Monster Hunter Wilds is set to become permanently cheaper soon. The reason for this might lie within the game itself.
What exactly will change in Monster Hunter Wilds? Capcom announced in a post on x.com that on August 4th, at 2:00 AM CEST, extensive changes will be made to the price and available bundles of Monster Hunter Wilds.
The reason for this is to make it easier for new and returning players to enter the game. In particular, the base game will undergo a permanent price reduction. However, the exact amount of this reduction has not yet been announced.
Additionally, the currently available Deluxe and Premium-Deluxe editions as well as the cosmetic DLC pass will be discontinued. However, those who already own them will obviously keep all acquired content. Instead, there will be 3 new bundles that aim to package the released DLCs more clearly.
Here you can see how the bundles will change and what will be included:

In addition to the streamlining, however, another point is likely to play a crucial role, as Monster Hunter Wilds has had a rough time since its release.
Rescue for the upcoming DLC after a battle against the reviews?
What could be another reason for the adjustment? Since its release on February 28, 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds has been struggling with mediocre reviews. The focus is primarily on poor performance and lack of exciting content. Last year in June, the reviews on Steam then plummeted to “mostly negative” and to this day, Monster Hunter Wilds has only been able to fight its way to a “mixed” with around 48% positive votes from 324,539 reviews through updates and fixes (as of July 15, 2026, 11:00 AM). The hoped-for rescue has not yet been brought by the updates.
User Toxic Soap additionally addresses a point in his negative review that could also be a reason for the adjustments or at least influence this criticism:
I like this game. The battles run smoothly, the graphics are beautiful, and in my over 15 hours of gameplay, I had no issues with stability or crashes (see my system data).

At this point, I can say with certainty that this is NOT a $70 game, as long as “World” and “Rise” are available. Both offer MORE content and cost LESS. So far along in the game, this title is severely lacking in monster variety. And the numbers back that up – this is the smallest starting selection since 3U.
“Ascension” would need to add the most monsters of all DLCs/expansions ever to even come close to the number that “MH World” currently offers, and even then about 30 would still be missing compared to “Rise” and “GU”.
On the one hand, a lower price could lower the hurdle for buying the game despite its problems and criticisms and finding enjoyment in it; on the other hand, it could also attract new fans for the expansion “Ascendance,” which is set to be released in 2027.
How does the community feel about the adjustment? On Reddit, the announcement from Capcom is well received, but there are also doubts whether this will bring the hoped-for rescue for the action RPG. Many still believe that Monster Hunter World and Rise are significantly more enjoyable, even if many cannot quite explain why.
Some see the many “accessibility improvements” as a problem, as they feel that they take away the magic and challenges that surrounded the predecessors. Many mention the mount as an example, which simply takes you to the desired target, and you don’t really have to get to know the maps at all. Additionally, hunting monsters in Wilds does not really feel like a hunt, but rather like merely finishing the same fights.
The community hopes that the expansion will address exactly such points and make the game exciting for them again.

In 2027, the major expansion “Ascendance” for Monster Hunter Wilds is set to be released. It will take you to new areas and bring new and old monsters with it.
