Monster Hunter Wilds has received a new patch that apparently improves performance on PC significantly. The community is clearly pleased to finally be able to play the title smoothly about a year after its release.
What kind of patch is this? Many players have had performance issues with the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds. Capcom recently announced a patch that is supposed to address this issue – it was released on January 28, 2026. Previously, a curious bug circulated that improved performance the more DLCs one owned.
The new update, which takes up about 2 GB of storage space (with optional high-resolution textures it’s 31 GB), comes with a number of performance improvements. Among other things, the CPU/CPU processes of the Steam version have been improved, new graphic options added, and a CPU tab integrated that affects the computational load.
The patch also fixes individual errors and bugs. You can read the exact patch notes on the Steam page for the game.
For the community, the update is an important step, as many players can finally truly enjoy Monster Hunter Wilds – one year after release.
“They did it!”
What is the mood in the community? The patch has already been extensively tested, and the first reactions from players are predominantly positive.
The improved performance has, according to X user Tsuki a significant impact on gameplay enjoyment:
Once I got it running, this game runs smoothly. It’s impressive how much more fun this game can be when it actually runs with decent graphics. My graphics are set to “High” and for the first time ever, it was a constant 60 to 70 frames per second during the entire hunt!
YOU DID IT!
This euphoric assessment is echoed by other players on x.com:
- “Performance has overall improved significantly. Before the patch, I could only play with high graphics quality (+ high-resolution textures) and Frame Gen, and even then there were severe stutters during larger fights or interactions and smaller stutters during normal gameplay,” says Cain.
- “I play Wilds on a laptop that has trouble with newer releases. This update really works wonders. I still have to use Frame Gen, but even with that I never had a constant 60 FPS before, honestly just about 40 FPS. The game still looks good and runs better than before,” adds Rick.
- “I can confirm that it runs much smoother, so I no longer need frame generation on a mid-range laptop GPU,” reports Aliferous.
The fact that the gaming experience is now significantly more enjoyable prompts user ResponsibleRub469 on Reddit to come to a clear conclusion: “It’s finally time to update my negative review!” Reviews on Steam were recently sitting at just 55% positive (Mixed) compared to an overall rating of 75% (Mostly Positive) since release.
The fact that PC players had to wait almost a year for the game to finally run properly also brings about ridicule. On January 28, 2026, Junjou Laina writes on x.com: “I want to congratulate Capcom for finally releasing Monster Hunter Wilds for PC!”
Is there also criticism? Alongside much praise, there are also critical voices mixing into the discussion. X user L33Dz finds the congratulations exaggerated and criticizes the still blurry presentation. And some users still seem to be experiencing frame rate drops.
Overall, however, the mood regarding PC performance has become significantly more positive. Have you already tried the patch and noticed an improvement in performance?
