In Monster Hunter Wilds, the popular Death Stench armor from the predecessors is also back. To unlock it, you first need to obtain a Sinister Cloth. We will show you where to get it and how to use it.
What kind of material is this? Sinister Cloth is a high-rank material that allows you to craft the equally high-rank Death Stench armor for yourself and your Palico. However, to unlock the armor, you must first find the item.
Where you can get it and what you can craft from it is explained here.
How to obtain the material “Sinister Cloth”
Unlike most materials in Monster Hunter Wilds, you cannot obtain the Sinister Cloth from a monster or find it in the environment. Instead, you have two options to get the coveted item.
1. Through trade
The simplest method to obtain the material is through a trade. This is easiest when you speak with Nata at any camp.
There, you can exchange the item through the following traders:
- Kilama (Kunafa/Wind Plains)
–> In exchange for the item “Large Wind Aloe,” which you can find in the Wind Plains - Brillitzer (Wudwud Hideout/Crimson Forest)
–> In exchange for “Ancient Wyvern Coins,” which you can find from endemic life or in the sand
Alternatively, you can also speak with the respective NPCs in the corresponding areas. However, the method through Nata is more effective.
What can I do if the traders do not have the cloth? The traders do not always have the Sinister Cloth in stock, so you need to be a bit patient.
You can reset the traders’ offers by using the “Rest” function in your tent or at a campfire. This costs you 300 Guild Points each time.
2. Through material procurement
With a very low chance, but without having to do anything, NPC Murtabak from Kunafa can randomly procure the item for you.
To do this, once you have unlocked material procurement, set the order settings to “Prioritize Rare Materials” to slightly increase the chance. You can then regularly collect the materials he procures at Nata.
With a bit of luck, a Sinister Cloth is among them.
Using Sinister Cloth: Crafting the Death Stench Armors
Once you have snagged a Sinister Cloth, you automatically unlock the corresponding armors: 2 variants of the Death Stench Set α and the F Death Stench Set α for your Palico:

For each armor piece, you need 1 Sinister Cloth and 2 additional materials each. So, a bit of patience is required if you want to craft everything.
