Although Kaetram has been earning more and more positive ratings on Steam since its Early Access launch in May 2024, the 2D MMORPG is still flying under the radar of many players. The largest update to date is supposed to change that.
What do I need to know about Kaetram? The 2D pixel MMORPG from developer OmniaDev Inc. launched on Steam in Early Access on May 17, 2024. Additionally, Kaetram can be experienced via Google Play or the App Store.
You can expect an online adventure in a medieval world, with all sorts of quests, treasures, challenges, and explorable underground worlds that, combined with the cute 2D pixel look, quickly evoke memories of the extremely popular Terraria.
Despite its old-school presentation, Kaetram has already secured 76 percent positive user reviews at the Early Access launch. Reviews from the past 30 days are even 86 percent positive (via Steam). The low number of reviews (294 in total) and the statistics from steamcharts.com (107 concurrently active players at peak from June 2024) indicate that the game is flying under the radar.

The biggest patch so far is live
What is changing in Kaetram? On February 3, 2025, with Patch 2.3.0, the biggest update for the MMORPG has been released. According to the developers, they have mainly focused on implementing the players’ feedback regarding the early to mid-game progression. But not only that. Here are the highlights:
- Comprehensive graphical overhaul
- New crafting system and overhaul of blacksmithing
- New balance adjustments for all equipment parts
- Horses as mounts have been added
- You can now inspect the equipment and stats of other players
- Additional PvP zones for the endgame
- Numerous new features and adjustments for the user interface
Keep in mind that even many positive reviews from the past 30 days mention Kaetram’s high grind factor. The comparison to Tibia or Old School RuneScape comes up again and again.
