It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in 5 Minutes.” We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. You can expect the raid schedule of WoW Midnight, Sauercrowd, and a successful indie MMORPG.
Highlights of the week:
- WoW Midnight will be released on March 3, 2026. Early access begins 4 days earlier, on February 27. Here you can find everything important about the new expansion.
- On the official WoW website, almost daily new information about WoW Midnight is appearing – for example, about the loot hunt, the new zones, the raid schedule, or the new depths. It starts on March 18 with the Void’s Pinnacle and Dream Rift (Normal, Heroic, 1st LFR wing). On March 25 it continues with Mythic, 2nd LFR wing, and Story mode. On April 1 the 3rd wing of Void’s Pinnacle and the final raid March on Quel’Danas (Normal, Heroic, and Mythic) follows. On April 8, LFR and Story mode of March on Quel’Danas will conclude the raid series – you can find the details at blizzard.com.
- If you want to pass the time until Aion 2: Gameforge announced this week the first content update of 2026 for Aion Classic with Ignite. Included: the new Phoenix class, a modernization of the early gameplay experience, and the new zone Teva. You can find information on all this at gameforge.com.
- While the big MMORPGs are still dormant, various indie MMORPGs are celebrating successes on Steam in 2026. One is particularly well-received by fans and is once again setting a player record: Project: Gorgon.
What else has happened? We at MeinMMO had the opportunity to conduct an interview with a developer of World of Warcraft in Berlin. In conversation with Joanna Gianulis (Senior UX Designer), who has worked a lot on the housing of World of Warcraft, the main topic was exactly this: the player housing and social features.
“Something very bad has happened”
This happened with the big MMORPGs:
- In the upcoming expansion of World of Warcraft, you will need more gold. Because you need it for item upgrades.
- Dungeons in World of Warcraft have lost part of their magic, and that is due to Mythic+. But something new is supposed to fill this gap: Labyrinths.
- Is it time to overhaul World of Warcraft again? Yes, some think. Because some goblins have been making a killing for years.
- The latest cinematic of World of Warcraft once again shows: We need a series. Because Blizzard knows how to tell emotional and dark stories.
- The YouTuber and analyst has little good to say about the current leveling experience in World of Warcraft. While Blizzard is so close to getting it right.
- Even if you are an animal lover – for stylish decoration in World of Warcraft, you are happy to overlook it. Or a snail in the ground.
- Many races in World of Warcraft are massively disadvantaged when it comes to the selection of their customization options. Blizzard wants to change that – but it takes time. A lot of time.
- Tanks in World of Warcraft are no longer willing to be insulted all the time. They give up – and wait times are increasing.
- From February 16 to March 02, 2026, the world event “Moon Festival” is taking place in World of Warcraft.
- With update 49 and season zero, you can buy many different new mounts with your earned gold. You can find all information about this at elderscrollsonline.com.
- From February 26 to March 12, 2026, the princess festival will be held in Final Fantasy XIV. You can find all the information on finalfantasyxiv.com.
This happened with Sauercrowd this week:
- “Something very bad has happened” – When the experienced WoW streamer Sieglinde introduces a clip about Sauercrowd with these words, all fans of the hardcore project know: There were bitter losses for the Twitch guild. Here you can find the current roster of Raid 1.
- The Twitch streamer LostKittn is participating in the Sauercrowd project but tragically died twice during the leveling phase of WoW Classic Hardcore. Now she celebrated an emotional happy ending.
- Actually, the Twitch streamer Fanasia was firmly planned for the first raid of Sauercrowd with her Paladin. However, shortly before the announcement of the roster, she made a fatal mistake in a dungeon.
- In a second, also elaborately staged draft round, the Twitch guild Sauercrowd presented its next raid roster and a date for the Molten Core.
- In Sauercrowd, the participants for the upcoming raid have been determined. The Twitch streamer Jennifer “JenNyan” is not participating and announces that she is also dropping out of the general WoW grind.
- On February 22, 2026, the first raid of the Twitch guild Sauercrowd will take place. MeinMMO editor and Vanilla WoW veteran Karsten Scholz knows the Molten Core and introduces you to the greatest dangers.
- The Twitch streamer and LoL esports player Tolkin wanted to promote the reputation grind in Silithus for Sauercrowd… and lost everything in WoW Classic Hardcore.
In the right MMORPG, you can spend hundreds of hours (and much more). And so you don’t have to spend hours trying out games in search of it, MeinMMO shows you in a new YouTube video now 12 MMORPGs that are worth it in 2026 – and for whom.
