With coziness, you can make your home in Valheim more comfortable and gain a strong buff. MeinMMO explains how to maximize coziness and what you need to pay attention to.
What is coziness? The coziness or comfort value indicates how well your home is furnished. The more comfortable your home is, the more efficiently you can rest – or better yet: The longer the “Rested” buff lasts.
You receive the buff if you stay in a cozy environment or sleep for a few seconds. “Rested” increases your stamina regeneration by 100% and your health regeneration by 50%, so it’s always worth it. The higher the comfort, the longer the buff lasts.
To increase coziness, you need to make your environment more beautiful. A maximum of 17 coziness is possible – unless you use some tricks or get lucky. MeinMMO reveals how to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
Maximum coziness – How to increase comfort
How to reach 17 coziness: Various furniture with decorative or pragmatic functions increase coziness. To achieve the maximum, you need the following items:
- a roof over your head – +2 coziness
- hanging frying pan – +1 coziness
- runners (Lox, Wolf, and Deer) – each +1 coziness
- table – +1 coziness
- raven throne – +3 coziness
- banner (any color) – +1 coziness (not stackable)
- fireplace – +2 coziness
- chair – +2 coziness
- dragon bed – +2 coziness
Items like the raven throne or the dragon bed can only be crafted once you’ve collected iron, as you need iron nails for them. More about this can be found in our comprehensive guide to all ores and metals in Valheim.
I’m not reaching 17 – What am I doing wrong? Note that all items must be placed within a radius of about 10 meters. This corresponds to five large floor pieces. Additionally, lower quality items of the same category cannot block comfort.
If you have only 16 or 15 comfort, check if a stool, a regular bed or a bench is too close. Stools and benches overwrite the value of a chair, and a regular bed overwrites the value of a dragon bed. The same applies to campfires and the stove. Also, keep in mind that the fires and the frying pan must be burning to count towards comfort.
If you have a larger house equipped with many pieces of furniture, consider building a separate sleeping area. This should exactly cover the 10 meters and be away from other furniture in all directions (including up and down). Expand your comfort here and enjoy the benefits.
Over 17 coziness with tricks and commands
It is possible to exceed 17 coziness, but not by default. Two additional items also grant +1 comfort each:
- a Yule tree
- a Maypole
However, these two items cannot simply be built at the moment. With some luck, you might find them in the world. If one of these items is in your world, you can build your house around it or right next to it to achieve even more coziness.
The objects also cannot be dismantled or relocated. However, you can access the debug mode via admin commands and place both a Maypole and a Yule tree. In our guide, we show you all admin commands of Valheim and how to use them.
Since both objects are seasonal decorations (Nordic winter solstice or Christmas and summer solstice) and there is also Halloween decoration with the “Jack-o-Turnip”, it is quite possible that the developers have already planned recipes for seasonal events.
It is also possible that more content for comfort will be added in the upcoming update “Hearth and Home”. However, when that will be released is not yet known.
