For the new triple-A gamel Mass Effect: Andromeda a crack is now circulating. The expensive Denuvo protection lasted 13 days. It was supposed to prevent Mass Effect: Andromeda from being pirated.
As the English-speaking site PCGamesN reports, a group of crackers has overcome the Denuvo protection for Mass Effect: Andromeda. Despite the double protection from the platform Origin and Denuvo’s “Anti-Tamper” technology, a crack for Mass Effect: Andromeda is now circulating.
PCGamesN states that the expensive Denuvo protection software was once considered “uncrackable.” However, it has been overcome more frequently now. Denuvo itself never claimed that its program was “uncrackable,” just “hard to crack.” But even that is probably no longer a statement that really holds up, after the same group has already overcome the copy protection of the AAA game Resident Evil in record time.
However: Resident Evil 7 holds the record for the fastest cracked Denuvo game. It only took 7 days. For Mass Effect: Andromeda, it took at least 13.
According to PCGamesN, the developers had to invest significantly in Denuvo crack protection during the crucial first week.
Mein MMO thinks: The battle between software pirates and the gaming industry has been raging for many years. Piracy on PC is certainly partly responsible for the growing popularity of game consoles and “games as a service” with studios and publishers. The “always online” craze and the cash shop epidemic, which many players complain about, are likely also children of this dispute.
As an online gaming site, we rarely deal with these phenomena because most games we cover can’t really deal with cracks. Although Conan Exiles has been cracked. Annoying, but only a quickly outdated version is circulating. With titles that are primarily played offline, like Mass Effect: Andromeda, this is a much bigger issue.
