On Wednesday, October 25, Patch 13.21 was released and brought some changes to League of Legends, including for the tank hybrid K’Sante. He has become significantly stronger, as a professional apparently had to find out unprepared.
What kind of tank is this?
- K’Sante debuted in November 2022 as a new champ and is supposed to unite the damage and tank role as a top laner.
- The interesting thing is that he weakens his own defense in his ultimate to deal more damage instead. At first, this made him extremely weak.
- After a rework, K’Sante was played more often, but remained more in the mid-range. That has now changed.
K’Sante is now this strong: In the latest Patch 13.21, K’Sante received buffs to all his abilities. He now deals more damage and can use his skills more reliably. You can find the patch notes in detail on the official LoL website.
The buff has a significant impact on his win rate. From around 50%, K’Sante now rises to almost 60% win rate in the upper echelon and is according to OP.GG the absolute strongest champ on the top lane in Platinum and above.
The higher the rank, the stronger K’Sante becomes. While he stands at 51.23% in Platinum+, he reaches 55.83% in the Grandmaster tier and even 57.41% among the Challengers. Not even Jax is that strong at the moment.
Jankos plays against the “new” K’Sante, completely freaks out
K’Sante has already proven to be a strong choice in the LEC. G2 Esports owes its victory to both K’Sante on the top lane and Rell in the jungle, which hardly anyone expected.
K’Sante is currently also frequently played in the LoL Worlds. According to the analysis site Games of Legends, K’Sante is the most played champ on the top lane with 15 picks – much to the dismay of some professionals.
Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, the jungler of the Heretics, encountered the strong tank hybrid in a match. His reaction: after dying in a 4v1 situation that lasted far too long, he loudly curses his computer (caution, loud!):
On Twitter, there were some cynics claiming K’Sante has now received buffs to push the new LoL boy band Heartsteel. K’Sante is a part of this new crew. Developer David “Phreak” Turley denies this, stating that he didn’t even know before the patch that K’Sante was receiving a new skin.
As the patch has just been released, the numbers will likely still stabilize. Nevertheless, it is clear that K’Sante will now find himself significantly higher than before. However, this may not help some professionals anymore:
