Oblivion Remastered attracted more than 200,000 players at release, but the excitement has long since faded. The game is still a technical mess, with users complaining about bugs and issues and weak performance.
Oblivion Remastered was released on April 22, 2025, and at launch according to Steamdb more than 217,000 players were playing simultaneously. Through the Game Pass, several thousand more are likely to have joined. Currently, player numbers are more between 3,000 and 4,000.
At release, the remaster disappointed mainly due to technical issues. Issues that have still not really been resolved. And this, despite more than a year having passed since the release.

What has happened since the release? Oblivion Remastered has received only two updates since its release: The first update on June 4, 2025, and a second update on July 9, 2025. No further updates have followed (via Steampowered.com).
However, the remaster still suffers from technical issues and below-average performance. Looking at the Steam reviews of Oblivion Remastered, users still complain about the game’s technical problems.
Some players accuse the developers of having already “given up” on their game and not wanting to provide updates anymore. There has been no statement from the developers to confirm or deny this.
Is there hope for improvement? Yes, Oblivion Remastered is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2026. Some users hope that Bethesda is currently focusing on the Switch release and will then provide the other versions with fresh updates after that. At the Switch release, it will become clear whether the developers will show a bit more love for the PC and console releases.
