In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, protagonist Heinrich must wash himself and his clothes regularly to make an appearance among the NPCs. MeinMMO explains how you can get clean again.
Both Heinrich himself and his clothing must be washed once they are dirty. If you go for a long time without washing and run around dirty or even bloody, the NPCs will let you know. They will tell you that you smell, and Heinrich’s charisma will decrease.
Smelling bad is generally not a good idea, as you will receive the debuff “Stinker” that makes you more easily detected while sneaking. You may not be heard, but you can be smelled.
You don’t have a general hygiene bar, but if the debuff “Stinker” is active, it will be displayed alongside your health bar. You can check the cleanliness of the clothing in the item description of the clothing.
Washing clothes at the laundry
How do I wash clothes? To clean your clothes from dirt, you first need a piece of soap. You can buy soap in bathhouses or inns, or make it yourself through alchemy:
- 2x thistles
- 1x dandelion
- 1x charcoal
With one piece, you can clean all clothing at once, not just the one you are currently wearing.
Then head to the laundry. You can recognize it by a platform next to which there is a stone. Stand at the platform, look down, and choose the option. Then the washing process begins.
How Heinrich gets clean again
Trough
Washing at the trough has one major advantage: it’s free. However, you won’t get deeply clean; only the coarse dirt and blood will be removed. You will find a trough in every settlement, usually standing next to a house.
Laundry
A quick wash is also possible in a laundry. It is actually meant for your clothes, but Heinrich can also use the water for himself. Simply stand at the platform and look into the water for the option.
Bathhouse
In the bathhouse, you have three options to clean yourself:
- Heinrich bathes and his currently worn clothing is cleaned
- Heinrich bathes, his currently worn clothing is cleaned, and his injuries are healed
- All three of the above and Heinrich receives company from a woman
In the latter case, you will receive the buff “Beautiful Memories,” which temporarily increases Heinrich’s strength, agility, and vitality by one point.
