On the PTR of World of Warcraft, there are currently new headpieces at the Darkmoon Faire. These fish helmets are limited-time items and may harbor a dark secret …
These helmets are about: Anyone fishing at the Darkmoon Faire can get severed fish heads on the current PTR version of WoW, where the upcoming patch 8.1.5 is being tested. These come in two variants:
- the pink Severed Purple Scale Heads
- the blue Severed Azure Scale Heads
Both items are usable and last only one day before they are automatically destroyed. You can have a maximum of five of them at the same time, and when using them, you suddenly have a giant fish head on your shoulders. The effect lasts for one hour.
What is the secret? There is more to the fish heads than just a hilarious look for your character. The description of both items reads:
Something strange is happening in the waters around Darkmoon Island …
The hint sounds quite as though a large creature is lurking in the seas around the island, devouring oversized fish and apparently severing their bodies with a bite from the head that it leaves behind.
Hints about the Old God N’zoth
The colleagues from wowhead even spin these theories further. They associate the severed fish heads with the warbringer video of N’zoth and Queen Azshara which shows a fish talking to Azshara before she is devoured by the ocean.
N’zoth has a strong connection to the sea and marine creatures, and in patch 8.1.5, players will likely even serve N’zoth directly. The Old God apparently plays a central role in the ongoing story of Battle for Azeroth and even causes strange loot.
The entire Darkmoon Faire also has some theories connecting it to the Old Gods, particularly N’zoth. This is supported by the yellow eye logo, the location, and the generally dark figures present there.
More and more secrets seem to be building up around patch 8.1.5 and the future of Battle for Azeroth. We can look forward to what awaits us.
